I always wanted hair extensions but was always afraid of the cost. I called Gino Salon and was booked with Andrew for a consultation. The price was absolutely more affordable than what I was quoted at other salons. Andrew made me feel very relaxed and I could tell that he knew what he was doing. I had the extensions put in this past Thursday and I swear you can't tell the difference between my hair and the extensions. Andrew really did an amazing job! I fould Gino, through an online search. I scheduled an appointment for color and highlights....they turned my hair PURPLE! I could not believe it!! The stylist did not know how to fix it, or how it happened...he had other stylists helping him out. Oh, I was sooo nervous and scared. But, I managed to remain calm...all I wanted was my hair fixed. --My hair ended up fried, it still looked purplish under white lighting on the left side of my head. I had to go to another salon to get them to fix my hair. It was a nightmare! ....I do not refer this salon, nor will I be returning. Plus, the place was not clean, very rundown. Not usually one to write reviews but what the hay, the receptionist asked so I thought I would oblige (as she looked like she was in pain...just got braces maybe?) I first decided to make an appointment due to the proximity of my work. They put me with a stylist named Eunnice and right off the bat I clicked with him. I usually try to pick up an intriguing magazine to pass the time but was not necessary as the conversation was interesting and we had similar interests (with men stylists you never know what kind of breed you will get). He was sophisticated, respectful, helpful, and most of all a truly talented young man. I feel about 10years younger and my friends and family noticed the difference right away. Never judge a book by its cover this place has one of the most undiscovered talents in Dallas...Will not disappoint! I do not recommend this place. I went because my old friend went there, but she got married and moved to Miami...so I decided to try Gino Salon and I booked an appointment ...OMG, as soon as I walked in, nobody greeted me...i sat down, then finally about 20 minutes, a girl greeted me...they just looked so unorganized. Well, when Gino began to do my hair, some lady with the braces that works there began to argue with Gino about a promotion that they were running for their salon, I could hear her squeeky voice, just go on and on...It was so unproffesional to argue in front of me, as a client. So I figured they were married. I asked Gino's assistant if they were married, she said no. I was like OMG. Then, they both went to the back and continued to argue. I was like ""ahhh""... Gino did ok with my hair, not worth the money though...and he had like no personality, like i swear he never spoke to me about much. I don't know...I just didn't really like the place. It was also dirty...and i don't mean to be rude, but I saw a dead roach in the closet where i got my smock...I mean i know that there are restaurants next door, but come on! really? I was new to Dallas and had a bad hair experience at another salon. I found Gino's on a web search and got in right away for a consultation with Younce. He did an excellent haircut correction and a very nice highlite. He was friendly and upbeat! The staff was also friendly. I would recommend my new hairdresser to all my friends! I've been to this salon three times. The first time, the stylist talked me into leaving my (growing out from Katie-Holmes-esque chop, increasingly mullet-like) hair longer in the back, shorter on the sides, which is the opposite of what I really asked for. The second time, I had the same stylist. I insisted he please cut the back shorter, so I could start growing my hair into some kind of bob-type (NOT mullet) shape. He refused at first - again - saying I would look like a boy (!!!), but I wouldn't leave until he did. In the following weeks, I realized he had given me a terrible haircut that was not growing well - uneven, misshapen, just bad. On top of that, he seemed rushed and shaky - not listening, not paying any attention... Try #3. This time I asked for a different stylist. No problem, since the last guy was NO LONGER THERE. Shock. This time I wanted some subtle highlights and a haircut. The new stylist - who told me he used to own a salon in New York - had FOUR clients working at the same time. He paid even less attention than the last guy. Luckily, the haircut ended up a thousand times better, but the color??? I went in with dark brown hair, and I left with orange (!!!!) stripes. I specifically asked for a few subtle highlights. He even made a face when the foils came off. But then he started saying things like, ""Oh, no it will fade a lot in the next couple of days, it's just the lighting, I think it looks great."" And every time I tried to get close to the mirror to inspect, he jumped in front of me, and said, ""Here, let me dry it a little more!"" In addition, that night, up closer look, I saw that the highlighted pieces started more than an INCH from my head! It was the worst color job I have ever, ever seen. I ended up having to color over my 200-plus-dollar 'do with brown L'Oreal that night, because I could not go into a Monday morning meeting with my CEO looking like a ridiculous punk rocker. (Unfortunately they're closed Sunday and Monday.) I will never return to this place. It's a waste. They pay no attention to anything you say, and then gladly take your money. Pros: Sweet shampoo guy. This place was great! It was my first time at Gino's and had been several years since my last professional haircut. I was blown away by Younes, he was unbelievable friendly and knowledgeable. I have had long hair for years now and wanted to go short. He got me exactly where I wanted to be and gave me the haircut of my dreams I didn't even know I was looking for. I will certainly be returning to this salon at my earliest convenience. I recommend making an appointment in the morning when you can enjoy the serene atmosphere and energetic vibe to truly start your day off on the right foot! Gino really is a FABULOUS MAN with an AMAZING TALENT coupled with a HUGE HEART. I went with my friend, last weekend, to Gino's and we really liked him! He did the most beautiful haircut on my friend. She looked like a model afterwards...She's pretty, but her hair is always fuzzy, it's always all over the place. He did like this deep treatment on her hair. Then, he did that steamer thing to straighten it...then he cut it like sideways, really delicately. more

I have lived in Plano/Frisco for almost 10years....until 10 months ago. Me and my boyfriend moved to Downtown Dallas, because our jobs are in Downtown (and we just got tired of being stuck in traffic every day for 45min-an hour...plus the gas was so expensive back then to travel back and forth every day, AND TOLL FEES! It's like we had to pay to go home )....So we moved. We now live 5 mins from our jobs. We love it! BUT, every month. I will drive up to Gino's Salon, because I just LOVE the way he does my hair! I just love him. I can't explain it. Like i hate it when people say, OMG he's the best! But I am not exagerrating or sounding fake. He really is the Best! I met Gino by accident, actually...back in 2001. My hairdresser was out on summer vacation...So I booked myself with Gino. And I am so Glad I did! I fell in love with his professionalism, his skills, the way he knows what color, cut, or styles look best on me. You can see his PASSION for hair. He really does love doing hair. It's not just a ""job"" or just a haircut, or another head to add color to. He really does cares. That is why, even after my previous stylist came back from her vacation...I never went back...I always went back to Gino. He's really funny too...He'll talk to me in Italian and I'm like ""What?"" :) He really is a nice gentleman....And when you walk into his salon, you will see that he is living an American Dream. He's from Italy and he's opened his own business in America..The only reason i know his background is because i read it in the ""ALLURE MAGAZINE"" Issue...He was named the Best Colorist in Dallas!
