Outstanding auto repair shop 11/26/2008

Once again, CAR did a great job with my rig. They again did super work, extremely reasonanle cost. Honorable, skilled and actually like to take my rig in to see them. Rick and Lee, again, a big thank you for all you have done. PS: Rick knows more about Jeeps than the dealer does... go figure.\r \r -Michael more

Finally! An auto repair shop worthy of my business 10/6/2008

What a stand up repair shop! In an era when most are concerned with cutting corners and making the biggest profit with the littlest effort, it is refreshing to see a company adhere to good morals and integrity. Please allow me to explain. Just recently I had taken my car into Meineke to have a tune up, oil change and replace an AC belt. A couple days later, the belt that was replaced snapped, throwing off my alternator belt simultaneously and leaving me and my car stranded. To make a long story short, Meineke attempted to cover their insufficient mechanical skills by saying the problems was not the belt but a deeper issue within my car. Without my authorizing it, Meineke had stripped apart half my engine and left it in pieces when I said I didn?t want them to repair it. In talking with those at Meineke, I have never been treated so poorly and had to deal with so much nonsense, I will be reporting them for potential fraud and at the very least incompetence. After talking with Lee and Rick at Canyon Auto, they agreed to look at it (no charge) to see what the real issue was. They were able to get me in that day, were super nice and knowledgeable (a change from what I am use to). They had my car ready to go the next day and as it turns out, nothing was wrong with my car (except for the fact that it was halfway taken apart). Canyon Auto has quick, excellent service and is more focused on the customer, not its pocket book. I will take my car to no other mechanic in the greater Portland area. They are the real deal and I am thankful to have found them. Pros: Great knowledge and service Cons: N/A more

Best auto repair facility around 9/15/2008

Repairs were completed fast. Estimates was accurate. No complaints. After the intial conversation about my vehicle problems i recieved a phone call with the update on repairs needed. The told me the vehicle would be done and ready for pickup by 6pm. No problems after picking up my vehicle. They also gave me an list of needed future repairs. Thanks Guys\r Pros: Accurate first time repairs. Cons: Parking more

Sadly, turned into biggest mistake we made, getting too busy/neglectful to handle work correctly, be cautious, check work before leaving lot! 9/11/2008

To be fair, we had used Lee twice before were pleased with the work. (3 yrs ago) Took used car in for inspection, told by Lee it had many problems, but $1300 of work (91 Toyota) would enable it to run for 3-5 years. Basically, overhauling an old but dependable car...not unusual for a Toyota. Broke down 1 week after work (was running when 1st went in), while over 50 miles from home. Towed in (no AAA...$$$) for second round. This time supposedly needed $800 worth of work, but was promised 'that was it' and would be great from there. Lamented with choice, but figured it was cheaper than another used car, had repairs made. Took much longer than promised, car ran worse than before. Was told it was a regulator, should have been OK now, but the new one must be faulty so they replaced again. Did some extra work as a ""bonus"" (changed air filter, cleaned fuel injectors, etc.) and since Lee was not around, Rick made us feel like that was something to be appreciated. While I would have, I would much rather have a running car (I can change my own air filter, thank you) Who do I believe?? Lee - (after initial $1300 work and used car inspection) - ""Great car, will run 3-5 years now if you take care of it"" or 2nd in charge Rick ""Well worn car, air leaks, compression problems, what do you expect with a car so old?"" - Well, I tell you what I expect. I expect you would have told us that on the first go around, not after THREE separate trips in, and no final solution to the problem. Called to politey discuss situation as car gets worse and was told, ""We told you so!"" No they did not & the fact that they print their diagnoses and have you sign paperwork before you leave says a lot. Car sputtered home, was in tears, this was all our money. $2500 later feel cheated, lied to, neglected, written off as ""old car"" even though we were assured this would all be remedied. Will take legal action, no longer offer good service. Note only positive reviews listed on their website. Pros: 3 years ago, one of the best places we had ever used, decent prices, easy to work with, took time to explain things Cons: Now, long wait to talk, always on phone, very busy with other customers, forgotten more than once, unwillingness to honor warranty or fix initial problems, very curt from beginning more

Busy but efficient 6/13/2008

My overall experience with this establishment has been pleasant~\r \r Rick is very professional and respectful. Lee, on the other hand, always seemed like he was way way too busy for a young girl- even if she was spending lots of money on their service.\r The work I had done, to the best of my knowledge, was comparitively cheap and well-done. I had taken in my car to have it looked over and have them tell me what I needed fixed. The day after I got my car back, though, there was a coolant explosion all over my engine which they did not take any fault for, eventhough nothing like that had ever happened to my car but I was told by an outside source that it probably not their fault anyways... Cheap fix, not a big deal.\r \r All of the work I had done was done extremely quickly- I even returned to have them look over the new vehicle I'm buying to tell me if anything was wrong with it. They found two small leaks and a dent which they gave me estimates on and I took it back to the dealership to have it all fixed.\r \r I'm going to pick up my car this afternoon and called Rick, again, to see if they would take a look at the repairs to make sure they were done well. He said that someone would look at it free of charge- which I really appreciate (especially after all the money I've been spending on cars lately!!)\r \r I will for sure be returning to Canyon Auto Repair.\r \r If there was anything that I would suggest as an improvement for this establishment- it would be take the time to be a little more thorough with your customer service. A little bit of time spent listening goes a very long way. Pros: Work done so quickly it will make your head spin!! Cons: Too busy for my business? more

#1 in Auto repair !!!! 4/23/2008

I have a 2002 Mazda Protege 5 that ended up needing a catalytic converter and when I found out how much the price was to have it fixed through the Mazda dealership I could not have afforded it. I then began to call a couple of places which were in the same ballpark if not higher. I then talked with my husband who told me that we should go through Canyon Auto Repair where he has been getting work done on his dodge Dakota. My husband called them and they were able to get the part even earlier then what the dealership had told me. He also let me leave my car there until the part came in he got the part on a Tuesday and within hours my car was ready to go. The best part was the bill through them vs. the dealership was $500 dollars less. They were very nice and courteous. This was the best car repair service I have ever had. I am definitely going there from now on as well as recommending it to all my family and friends. Pros: Fast service, Friendly more

Sterotypical Auto Repair 4/21/2008

My husband was out of town on business and being a woman, I always check with him first before agreeing to auto repairs. Long story short, I had unnecessary work done to my car at Canyon Auto Repair. Lee was very professional, and the repairs were good; however upon my husbands return he told me they were completely unnecessary. One of worst feelings is knowing you have been taken advantage of simply because you know little about the subject.\r \r Shame on you Lee, you will have to live with this post...and I know you will check it! Pros: Fast and timely repairs Cons: Costly repairs that need not be done more

Canyon Auto Repair is the best!!!!! 4/17/2008

Wow, what a pleasent surprise it was to finally ,as a woman be treated with respect and dignity by a repair shop. Lee and Rick took so much time to be sure I understood the repairs needed, and what they would be doing. Their price was considerably below what the dealers quoted me for the same repair and when I saw the qualifications these guys had I was tuly impressed!!!!! \r \r Even though I had arrrived unannounced they took the time to rescue me from my car problems on the spot and with in a few hours had my car running better than ever before. I was stranded, emotional, and in truth scared when the car would not keep running. They understood my needs and repaired my car till it operates better than ever before. These guys really understood my car too.\r \r I will only be coming to this repair facility from now on. Why go any where else when I know I will get the best price, the best work, and really treated with care and respect.\r \r I just wish I could give Lee and Rick 10 stars instead of just the 5 allowed here. Pros: excellent work, guaranty, integrity, great customer relations Cons: was hard to find and park more

They fixed my car the first time around, and replaced my headlight in less than ten minutes! Best Price, Best Service! 3/19/2008

Canyon Auto has treated well. My Volvo somehow got water and coolant in the oil. I went to Tigard SUV and the guy ripped me off and got my car to run for 4 days. I called my second choice Canyon Auto and they got me in the next day and had my car fully fixed for half the price that Tigard SUV charged me. I've been to Mt.Hood and Canon Beach within the first two week I got my car back. My 98' V70 is running better than it did when I got it two years ago in Indiana. Just today my headlight went out, I called them and they made time for me. They also fixed my headlight in less than 10 minutes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!! The experience of these people and the accurate price quoting impressed me, I had the best customer service of any car-related established since I started driving (That was when gas was $1.05/gallon, LOL). Pros: Accurate Price Quotes, Good Timing, Cheaper than most, fixed my car the first time Cons: Canyon Rd has a lot of traffic, not near any mass transit stops (I didn't have a car for 2 days) more

Outstanding service and repair!!!!! 3/18/2008

I have had my Audi into the dealers multiple times and never been satisfied with the way the heater operated. One time it would be warm and then sometimes ok and hot. Dealer told me it was not happening, I was imagining it. Lee and Rick both took the time to listen to my complaint and tested the car until they could duplicate the condition. Then to my amazement they informed me that it could be covered under warranty and had even called the dealer in my favor. They had my car for 2 days testing, found the problem, found a way for me to get it fixed free and only charged me less than $50. You could not ask for more experience or honesty. Highly recommend this shop. Pros: dedicated and knowledgeable upfront and honest. Cons: Hard to find location more

Agree with earlier post.......Deceitful, and good at it! 3/17/2008

I chose Canyon based on the reviews on here....sheep leading sheep is my only conclusion. It's not anyone on heres fault; you trust someone with so many plaques all over the walls, but when a amateur mistake is found, I dare you to confront Lee with it. Lee insulted my GF saying that she ""must not know a lot about cars."" Truth is my GF is the daughter of a mechanic! She knows more than most men! (I should have consulted her first) Long story short I was sold the moon, expensive parts that don't belong on a 13 year old car. Why change struts($225 ea) and not change strut mounts, spring seats etc...while you have the wheels off? Only explanation is to charge more labor next time to take the wheels and struts back off. It doesn't take a genius to realize the mounts were bad the first time....after all Lee is a ""Master Mechanic."" Beware, ask for an itemized list before you agree to service.......I was taken for a $2400 ride. Same selling point as other post.....you'll get a couple of more years out her (car). My struts are making the same noise as when I brought ""her"" in. I hope that all I really needed was not just strut mounts. Look closely at your bill and you may find a bit of gouging.\r \r UPDATE 4/24/08---I took my car to another mechanic to find out why my strut is still making noise. Canyon put it on backwards (don't even know how that is possible) and was blown already after 1 month. My alignment was 1 degree off! And the mechanic confirmed that earlier work that was done to my car ($1400) was overkill and most likely unnecessary. Why would someone need a whole new front end/suspension on a 13 year old car with no accidents. I can't believe I trusted this guy. Once again...be careful there are certain scenarios/situations that this guy will take advantage of, particularly on older cars. Lee did reimburse me for the blown strut and told me to come in sometime for a free oil change. Thanks buddy but I think I'll have my girlfriend do it for me! Pros: Shiny apple Cons: Questionable core more

Best mechanic in town!! 2/12/2008

Chose this place because of its great reviews. I am happy to say that this was an awesome experience. Lee is the man, straight to the point and no BS. Diagnosed my problem in minutes with no further surprises. Got my car back the next day and the engine and other parts were cleaned, due to a radiator fluid mess. Lee even spent time talking with me about my car for at least an hour. THESE GUYS ARE MY MECHANICS FOR NOW ON! more

Best service..Very Honest..Excellent knowledge of the cars 1/30/2008

Best service..Very Honest..Excellent knowledge of the cars\r \r Had problem with my Nissan Sentra 2001. Lee was very good in telling me about all the problems it had. He gave a very realiastic estimate for the repairs. The service offered was excellent. He gave me many suggestions about maintaining the car, which is going to save lot of bucks in future. He was very honest about the problems and expenses required to fix them. I would recommend him to everyone for all the repair works required for your car. \r Pros: Best service..Very Honest..Excellent knowledge of the cars more

Deceiful, Dishonest, sharp mechanic will sell you unneeded repairs at great cost!!! 12/30/2007

Do not recommend!!! In April, I brought my car to Lee for a timing belt, water pump and tune-up. He called me and said that I had oil leaks that needed repaired. I told him not to fix them since the amount was so small. He didn't take no for an answer and told me that they had already started the repairs without my permission. He convinced me that all these repairs were necessary and that my car would give me several good years. He replaced many parts without my prior approval and the bill totaled about $1200. In October, I was shocked after failing DEQ. Lee said that he knew exactly why my car failed DEQ, stating that it has ""blow-by"". (He failed to mention that the rings are shot and will require a major engine overhaul). I brought my car in again in Nov, 2007 because I saw more oil under the hood and it was now burning 1 qt of oil every 250 miles. He finally explained to me that blow-by means that my car has bad rings and needs a major engine overhaul (cost of $2000)!!!!! \r Lee lied to me about the actual condition of my car, knowing that it had bad rings and convinced me into wasting $1200 on useless repairs. And to top that off, he suggested that I agree to have him repair the rings (which would cost me another $2000) on a car that has a Blue Book value of less than $1000. \r Lee is a sharp mechanic and a great salesman....but I found out he will sell you the moon if you let him!!!\r I contacted him a week ago, expressing how unhappy I am that he took advantage of my ignorance about cars and talked me into wasting $1200 on useless repairs for a car with a bad engine and that I want to be fully reimbursed. I have not received a response from him or any money back. more

Canyon Auto Repair Provides HONEST Service!! 12/28/2007

I recently had trouble getting my 2005 Mazda RX-8 started. I looked online and the 20 or so CitySearch reviews for Canyon Auto Repair were so positive I decided to gave them a call. I talked with Lee Nguyen who was very helpful. Making a long story short, he recommended a great towing service (All About Towing), got the car quickly into the shop, and diagnosed the problem. He identified that my issue was covered by a Mazda recall. He could have easily ""forgotten"" to tell me that, replaced the starter and plugs, charged me a lot of money, and I would have been none the wiser. Instead, he only charged me the labor required to get the car running, printed out the documentation on the recall for me, and even called the local Mazda dealer to make me an appointment for the next day to install the new parts at no cost to me! My hats off to Lee and Canyon Auto Repair for providing not only quality service, but honesty as well. I will give them all my business and recommendations in the future including basic maintenance and oil changes. Thanks Lee!! Pros: Great service, knowledge, and honesty!! Highly recommended. Cons: None. more

Best Auto Body in Beaverton! Lee is the best! 12/20/2007

First time experience with Canyon Auto Repair Inc was supurb! I had to have some body work done on my 04 Honda Accord from a fender bender. I worked with Lee Ngyuyen the Master Technician there and he was amazing. He was so helpful and almost gidy to get my car. He did everything I asked him to do and was done with the job a day early. Great great experience for my first time. I would highly recommend these guys. The work was great, and they even cleaned my car on the inside. Pros: Excellent work, timely, knowledgable garage Cons: None that I experienced more

lee @ canyon auto has been there for me with all the emergencies I have had throughout the years- his workers are very polite and the facilities are clean. Canyon auto does quailty work for a fair price and they do-stand behind their work. I fully understand all work that is being performed-which is very important to me. I have been very pleased with them and will return when my car needs service in the future. hip- hip-huray-for the mechanics @ canyon auto repair !!!!! Pros: convient location more

Best auto repair ever- Canyon Auto Repair 10/3/2007

My experience with Lee @ Canyon Auto has been excellent over the past 5 years. he has helped me repair all 3 of my cars with explanations to all repairs -so I may understand what repairs are needed. He is very fair on his pricing and wont do work if not necessary. He has been honest with me and has treated with with respect over the past years of doing buisness with him. His work is excellent and I have no issues with his work. I would not use anyone else but ** Canyon Auto Repair ** Pros: says what he will do and sticks to it Cons: nothing more

not good at auto body repair, but cheap 8/23/2007

I brought my car in to get a large dent repaired on the driver side door. They were cheap, but didn't know what they were doing. They forgot several steps and left some obvious mistakes (incomplete paint job, dents) on the car. On the positive side, they were cheaper than several other estimates at other shops around town. I will not use their services again. Pros: cheap Cons: inexperienced, sloppy work, not thorough more

Great Job! 7/19/2007

After 129,000 miles, our 2000 Honda was in need of repair. We had done nothing to it but change oil, filters, tires, etc. since it was new. Having never used a mechanic in the area, we did not know where to take our car. A friend recommended Canyon Auto Repair, so that is where we had it towed. Lee analyzed our cars needs, told us what he thought he should do to make it run like new, and said the car would be ready in two days. We were extremely pleased with the results. Two days later, as promised, the car was done, and everything was like new. I expect to get another 100,000 miles from this car, and even more important is the fact that we can trust the car to not let us down. We now plan on bringing our 2007 Honda to Lee for service as well have him keep our 2000 model healthy! Thanks, Lee. You earn your business!\r \r John and Jackie\r more
