I had ordered a blue, acoustic guitar-shaped cake 2 months in advance for my boyfriend's 21st Birthday. I spoke with the lady on the phone and even sent 3 pictures and a description in an email of what I wanted. I said I specifically wanted to capture all blues and details in the guitar, because it was his favorite and very first guitar. I was told that they could definitely accomodate. \r I drove 45 min to pick up the cake the day of his birthday, when I arrived I saw a very nice guitar cake on display that looked beautiful in all its detail so I was excited to see what mine looked like, come to find out, it was my cake...it was a brown guitar. I told the lady that the cake I had ordered was blue, and that I had told them over the phone and email, and had even attached photos. They proceeded to bring a print out of one of the photos I had sent them, but apparently their printer must have been running out of ink and the entire thing was printed in red and brown tones. \r I had to tell the lady to check the email I had sent her, when they realized it was their fault they told me to come back in 30 min and they would have it fixed. I was frustrated because I had plans later for his birthday and didnt know the area so had nowhere to go, and was short on time. When they finished with the cake, it looked horrible! All they did was take the brown fondant off and put blue on. However, it was not the correct blue, nor did it have any of the detailing that the first one had. Also, they left all the detailing on the head of the guitar gold, when it was supposed to be silver!!! I had to go to a local michaels and buy silver cake dust and change it all myself. \r It was an overall horrible experience, I would have rather taken the first cake at a discounted rate than pay for the second cake, but they didnt even offer me that choice. I am normally a very understanding and easy going individual, but I had prepared them for this 2 months in advance. I would not trust this place to make anything for any of my special occasions. I ordered my wedding cake from here and ithe experience really was a horrible example of customer service, which is unfortunate, given that the cake itself tasted fantastic and looked great. I was jerked around by the ""wedding coordinator"", lied to by the manager, given misinformation by just about everyone involved, overcharged, and THEN, as if that wasn't enough, my wedding cake wasn't even delivered on time. They showed up with the cake AFTER the reception began. No apologies, no offer to make things right, just snippy answers from the less than professional staff. Such a shame. It's too bad that someone had a bad day and decided to post such a negative review. I have been using Cake Designs for years and just love them. The cakes are beautiful and taste wonderful. They have a great catalog of cakes and will also go with whatever you can dream up. For my daughter's first birthday, they made a cake that exacly matched her decorations. For my husband's birthday one year, they delivered his favorite carrot cake (the best I have ever had) to a nearby restaurant so the waiters could bring it out and surprise him. All of our experiences have been great and we have never been treated poorly. \r I respect small shops who provide great quality and service. The prices are right in line with any other nice bakery, and the cakes are well worth it. If you want a cheap cake, go to Food Lion. If you want a cake that your family and guests will enjoy tremendously and will remember, go to Cake Designs. They are a small business that has stayed in business because they are excellent. \r Up with the little guy! Down with mean reviewers! i have been going to cake designs for about 4 years now, and have never been unsatisfied. the cake tastes great and the girls are really nice. one time i did not explain what i wanted on the cake the right way, but they happily fixed it for me, it only took about 10 minutes. i think this place is great and just because someone probably didnt get helped hand and foot dosnt mean that this place is bad, maby that person is just too snippity Pros: fun, yummy, enerjetic Cons: little hard to find, can be a line more

All I can say is NO NO NO a thousand times no. ( I watched with horror as the girl behind the counter continued to berate the customers and ignore the others waiting to be served. This place is way too snobby. And they are only a small shop in a small strip joint. ( oh and then another came from the back room and rolled her eyes and left) more
