Great Food, Beautiful Atmosphere 2/15/2011

Valentine's night, my husband and another couple ate at Cabana's and we loved it! I fully expected the food or service to suffer with the date night crowd...but everything was awesome! For starters the calamari is incredible and the crab hushpuppies were awesome. I had the Panko Crusted Sole and husband had Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Both were cooked perfect and tasted unquie and amazing. Topped off with the peanut butter pie...delicious! Must try!\r \r And by the way, the atmosphere is fresh and cool whether you're in a cabana or at the bar. Thanks for a great Valentine's Day! more

Fun upbeat, but go early for specials! 7/13/2010

We were from out of town and we tried Cabana for the 1st time. We got there a bit late, around 8pm for the 7pm trivia, which appeared fun and packed the bar area. The host did not inform us that the pizza special was off because no more pizzas made and that was the reason we went. The pizzas are 2 for 1 along with beer. Our server told us about pizza and we were disappointed...not overly impressed with menu, but after many minutes, server says they made more dough so we could have pizza. He said it happens lots that they run out of pizza. And they are open until midnight! The pizza was incredible and the server was awesome too...everyone is happy and cheery, very upbeat. We were happy to get the pizza otherwise it would not have been a good experience. The trivia only lasts about an hour, so be on time! And get there early so you dont miss out on the pizza deals! Pros: Great pizza and beer deals on Sunday Cons: They run out of pizza early more

Best Night Club in Hollsboro Village 10/13/2009

Finally somebody decided to open up a night spot in Hillsboro Village. The music is bumping and the crowd is very interesting and unquie. Pros: Music and Bar Scene Cons: Drink Prices more

so-so 6/5/2009

While I really like the seafood entrees here (their salmon is great - and actually their chicken is pretty awesome too) it always seems to be a hassle when we order from here. The attitude of the staff is not great, even when they aren't busy. Don't bother with the fries - they just come with a watery cheese sauce and ketchup - or the ribs - they are beef tips and just gross! But the seafood stuff is really worth trying I think. Plus, you may run into a few Titans players at the bar. Overall, it's pricey with poor service and little thought for the customer but if you're good at swallowing your pride a bit, you may be able to swallow some drinks and select entrees too. Pros: the seafood entrees Cons: ribs, attitude of staff more

Best Party Spot 3/12/2009

We went to Cabana last Saturday for my friend's bachelorette party. After waiting for about 15 minutes past our reservation time, we were seated! It was worth the wait, though, because we got to sit in a cabana!! We plugged in our music (which they made us turn down a little because it was too loud). We got their fries for an appetizer...they were SOOO good. I got their salmon for my meal...it was a little sweet but very good. One girl got pizza, which looked awesome. I think I'll be going back for that! Our waiter was so funny, but it took him a little while to get to us sometimes. There were big parties all around us, so he could have been busy with all of them. After our meals, he brought the bachelorette a piece of chocolate cake--even though I was so full, it tasted so good! Drinks were good, but I was definitely feeling it the next day! Too many pitchers of sangria :) Besides some slow service at times, we had a great time. I would definitely recommend it for a birthday/bachelorette parties! Pros: Good ambience, good service, good food and value Cons: Parking, Waiting more

Worst dining experience in Nashville 1/16/2009

I had made reservations here over a month in advance for my best friends birthday. She and several of her friends traveled from Wilmington NC for her birthday with hopes that the evening would be wonderful. Upon making my initial reservations I was told that bringing a cake would be a waste since they would charge me for each slice cut and they would provide a small cake free of charge. When we first arrived at Cabana we were sat outside in a tented patio with heaters (In December) and 7 people were crowded around a small table which was shoved against the plastic tent. It took our waitress a good 10 mins. to even take our drink orders and then another 20 to get them to us. Then while she was taking our orders.. while the birthday girl was in mid order, the waitress just WALKED AWAY.. as if she had something more important to do. Once the waitress FINALLY came back and took the rest of our orders she had a MAJOR ATTITUDE! The worst part of the evening was when we had to ask 3 different times and 2 different servers to bring the birthday girls cake out to her and they still NEVER brought it. We were there a good two and a half hours.. mostly waiting.. and we only were able to get 2 drinks each because the waitress took forever. Once she realized how unhappy we were she dropped the our checks on the table and walked away. IT WAS HORRIBLE!! Being an event coordinator myself I WILL NEVER recommend this place to anyone for anything. Pros: The Ambience inside NOT OUTSIDE IN THE COLD Cons: the waitstaff, customer service more

bar not a restaurant 12/22/2008

Had a reservation for one of the cabanas for over a month - had to guarantee to spend minimum of $250 -they called me twice to confirm THEN had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. Was told by hostess that they really didn't have any control over when parties were seated and how long they stayed, etc. Only got seated that quickly because we asked to speak with a manager and complained. They did bring us a free appetizer in an attempt to apologize for the long wait. Food was very mediocre after all the hassle. We did have a great waitress who was very accomodating. This is a bar, not a good restaurant.. If you make reservations be prepared to still wait. more

BEST PIZZA 9/2/2008

I love this place on a Monday night. They have buy one get one free beer and whole pizzas. Let me just say that their pizzas are a masterpiece and the best that I have been able to find in the Nashville area. If you can wait it out long enough they also have Texas Hold 'Em Poker that starts around 10 or 10:30pm and lasts until you loose your chips. I've always had great food, service, and fun when I've gone here. \r \r I've also gone here with a large group and love how you are seated in your own private cabana where you can draw the curtains if you choose. \r \r Highly Recommend! Pros: Great Pizza, Southern Food, specialty drinks Cons: Avoid the sliders and cheese plate more

Nohting like it in Nashville 6/4/2008

If you haven't been to Cabana in a while or ever, you should go! Great, hip atmosphere, good music and menu. I had the lobster brie mac n cheese....heavenly! Fine dining that won't break your bank! \r You don't feel like you are in Nashville when you are there. The look ic very chic, not your Dad's sports bar!\r more

Consistent and Reliable 3/5/2008

I've been to Cabana no less than 10 times in the past year, and I've received consistently good food. The fish is always cooked perfectly, and the portion size is well worth the price. There's always enough left for lunch the next day. My favorites are the Baked Salmon Purse (superb flavor combination and could serve as a meal), the Grilled Mahi, and the Blanco Pizza. If the Pacific Corvina is featured on the specials menu, take advantage!\r \r The large plates are priced well, but the appetizers are a bit overpriced, especially the martini meals and salads. Don't bother with the desserts---they aren't house made and you can tell they came from the fridge or freezer. They're likely Sysco desserts, and aren't great quality. Pros: Great food, easy to get in on weeknights Cons: service can be really good or really bad, dessert menu more

Worst expensive meal in Nashville 10/6/2007

There is not much to recommend this restaurant. Previous reviews are right on. The food is much too sweet from the impersonation of a sangria (pineapple-yuck) to the fruit syrup salad dressing. The main course that we paid much too much for was a good cut of perfectly cooked venison ruined with both the syrupy berry sauce and the vanilla pudding rice called a risotto paired with it. We spent far too much money for such a dissatisfying meal. I actually felt ill and needed to leave. I would have done better to have stay at home. It is my sincere hope that this place is not diagnostic of the quality of restaurant to be found here. Pros: It is in a nice neighborhood Cons: The food is ruined with sugary fruity stuff more

Avoid Bartenders 9/18/2007

A few friends came in from oversees to visit and wanted to hang out at a nice spot, we were told about Cabana. Went in and thought we were in for a goodnight, however the bartender was very rude and refuse to serve us stated that ""he do not serve unless he is tip, everytime he serves a drink."" \r I was ashamed having brought company from another country to see this display of behavior. They informed the bartender that they were from another country and that it was common to tip the bartendar at the end of the night for his services while there.\r At the end of the night the bartendar was tip.\r \r The next week we returned and was serve by another bartendar who was later informed not to serve us because we do not F#&$ tip, this was stated in our presence. After our drinks were completed we waited patiently to be served again, but all the bartendars ignored our presence. The informant came up after 40mins of no service and stated loudly, ""are we goin to tip this week, no tip no service!"" We got up and left vowing never to return to this establishment. Cons: Terrible Bartenders more

Just like a Faizon restaurant 7/29/2007

Actually, Jody Faizon did better with this property than Craig Clifft has. It is far too loud to hear any of my thoughts, the ""back bar"" is cool, if you can get in. I can't remember the last time I had to pay cover for a place without a stage! I have eaten here several times in the past, and was mildly impressed at first. However the duck is the worst addition to a menu I have ever tasted. Something like rubber with bacon. The host staff was exceptional, and the wait staff was pretty good, too. However, the inaccessability of the main attraction takes away from this place. Avoid this place. If you want trendy, new american cuisine, go to Flyte, Radius 10, Watermark, etc. Pros: OK main dishes, great beer list Cons: parking, noise, cover, ""VIP"" Club more

BYO Cake 4/19/2007

This place only charges $1.50/person to celebrate your best friend's engagement with a slice of cookie cake. All you have to do is supply your own cookie cake. What a deal! Bad restaurant. Pros: Places to sit down Cons: BYO Cake more

Wine List and Bar Seen 4/14/2007

My wife and I went to Cabana tonight and had a blast, the WINELIST is the stuff. Service was great, and the energy is right where you would want it. Gone there a couple of times before, and will be back soon. Pros: Bartenders, Wine List, Ambience more
