Editorial review from Citysearch 8/27/2012

Not the place to sell your gently used items if you want a quick return. I took two bags of items at opening on a Thursday morning. By Monday morning of the following week I still had not received a call back. When I called I was told the items were still sitting on a shelf and it could be a few days before someone could get to it. I opted to pick my things up. Staff is friendly but not informative on the length of time it takes for a quote. more

C D Source in Dallas 10/13/2010

Yeah, this is a great cd store (of the few left). They have a great selection. I lived in Dallas for 9 years ('96 - '05), and they do have things you won't find anywhere else. However, they watch you from the second you come in the door, as if it were more important to make a dollar than to have a future artist accidentally get ahold of that track that inspires them to write something great at a cost of a couple of bucks to these douchebags. more

Good CD store 7/2/2010

You need to cash a paycheck before going here. It's a great place to spend a day and buy a couple hundred dollars worth of albums. The only drawback is that it's like a good breakfast diner without the good cup of coffee. There isn't very much vinyl and some of it's not very good. But other than that, it's a great place at a really good location. Pros: Hard to find CDs Cons: Not very much Vinyl more

This place is the bomb dot com, people 5/8/2010

You can always find some great treasures here, as a good selection of used CDs is constantly coming in the door. The staff are all music lovers, are usually very friendly and have excellent recommendations. They pay a fair price for your used CDs and DVDs too, so bring them here to sell and NOT half-price books where you will be ripped off if you accept their offer. This DalTexCowboy dude who gave this place a one-star rating because the CD Source staff didn't grovel at his feet, call him promptly and buy every single one of his CDs is quite obviously a D-bag of the highest magnitude. This is a fun, funky store with its own quirky personality, something very, very rare in this town. I think it will continue to last because it is staffed by helpful, mature adults, unlike its competitor CD World who went down the tubes a while back. Keep going back and keep independent record stores alive in Big D. Pros: Friendly staff, great prices, fun, relaxed atmosphere Cons: Selection limited on certain styles (World music, country) more

Overall a decent place to get music 3/26/2010

Great place to buy music. They have the cheapest prices for used CD's I've seen anywhere. The best deals are on the CD's with broken cases that are usually 2.99. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable on music. Pros: Great selection of used CDs at cheap prices more

Best Music Store in Dallas. Period. 11/11/2009

CD Source is without a doubt the best place to find cd's in dallas. Forget major retailers such as best buy, CD Source's selection blows them out of the water. Honestly, its not even a comparison...and even if CD Source doesnt have the CD you want, they will special order it and have it in 2 to 3 days. The staff is also top notch, and they know a lot about good music. Each staff member has their unique taste and can provide knowledgeable reccomendations to true music fans. And make sure you talk to Pat when you go there as well. Shes the best employee a company could ever have and she will help you find anything you need in a matter of seconds. Simply put, CD source is a gem of a store in a city full of bogus chains and boring shopping malls. Pros: great music for cheap; knowledeable staff more

Fun place to shop CD's at good value 11/6/2009

I wandered in here about six months ago and was warmly greeted by the friendly lady I've come to know as Pat. At that time I had about 20 CD's. Now , thanks to the wonderful advise and service from the staff; Larry, Chuck, Andrew, Pat, George, and everyone else; I have over 200 CD's. Larry is the man. Anything you need to know about music or CD's or bands he speaks the truth. I love coming in and exchanging little pleasantries with Pat.. She's always smiling and wanting to know how was my day, and can she find something for me. I am saddened to see some of the mean reviews for the store and the staff! There are so few nice businesses left that are truly interested in their customers' needs and life. However, it is a business and they need to make a profit to stay in business. They are not your MOTHER. Some of the negative reviews seem to be sour grapes. The store can't buy every CD from every seller. If you don't take good care of them, or you're selling ones the store already has 10 copies of, they can't really be expected to purchase them from you. I'm just thankful places like this are still around! Look in the mirror. If you present a positive attitude and treat the employees like friends you'd like to know better, you can get the musical education of a lifetime, and have fun doing it. They have a few rules sure, every business has to have them. I'd rather have friends making the rules, than some huge faceless company like Best Buy or Target. Larry, Pat, and the gang are there to help you enjoy your hobby. If you fall on hard times they'll be there to help pay you back on some of your CD's if you need them to. Will Best Buy? Will Target? Good luck and good hunting! Big D Musicfan Pros: Friendly service, well organized inventory, great prices Cons: not open 24hrs hot inside in summer more

Disorganized, Incompetent, Uninviting - Will NOT Return 10/11/2008

I decided to give CD Source a try to sell back some of my CDs. They don't call you once the offer is ready, they put your CDs out for sale BEFORE you accept there offer, and they are completely disorganized and incompetent. I had to call them to see if their offer was ready. It took at least five people five minutes to find their offer for my CDs. Once I found out that they would only purchase some of the CDs, I asked for them back as I want to get rid of the whole lot or nothing. They then had to go pull CDs off the sales floor and peel stickers off my CD jewel cases. I was quite offended that they would sell my CDs before I ever accepted their offer! The store is a dump, poorly lit and dirty. I know it is no discount retailer or chain, but you'd think they would have a little more pride in their business and clean up the place a little bit and make it more inviting. I've been in the store before, but never purchased anything as I've never found anything I was looking for.\r \r Definitely will not visit this establishment again, nor would I recommend it to anyone looking to buy, sell, or trade CDs or DVDs. more

CD source is great and plsiii is a idiot 5/5/2008

CD source is the best CD store in Dallas. They have a great mixture of new and used CDs. Most of the time used CD stores will not have new CDs from Indy artists this is not the case at CD source. I not only go there because I like supporting the store but I also can count on them having one of the CD my list. If they don't have what you want they can usually order it for you for the same price that big stores can get it for. And it usually takes less a couple of days for your order to arrive. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. If you can find something it might be in another storage area and they might be able to find it for you. when it comes to this plsiii guy its his own fault for not returning the CD within 30 days. Any store is not and give a refund for an item that has not been returned within their return policy. I would highly recommend CD source as the place to buy your next CD Pros: great selection, great prices on new CDs, nice guys that love music Cons: right next to free birds so you have to get a burrito lol more

Music Lover's Paradise 4/20/2008

This is both a review and a response to plsiii. The store is a wonderful store, most of the staff is very knowledgable both about their inventory and just music in general. They are all always very willing to help and eager to please, and their selection is just amazing. Of course they get new release CDs but what really makes the store a goldmine is its selection of rare, hard to find, and used albums. You'd be hard pressed to find a selection as good as CD source, or prices as reasonable. Also if you are looking to unload any CDs, I've found CD source will almost always give you a buy and it tends to be the most reasonable around (especially when compared to Movie Trading Company or CD World).\r \r As for plsiii, you're an idiot. You're criticising them for following their return policy which is cleary written on the receipt which you claimed to have lost. If it didn't work immediately why didn't you return it within the 30 day period? Its not their fault you decided to sit on it for a month and then thought you'd return your album after you had already ripped it to your computer or xbox. You're lucky they even cleaned the damn thing for you (by the way they don't ""spitshine"" they, they use a CD resurfacing cream). Don't go around trying to tarnish their good name because of your own incompetence. Also, if you went over the 30 day return period, I'm sure they offered to buy the CD back from you for a used price, especially if you bought it from them new. Pros: Great finds, great prices, helpful staff Cons: Little bit disorganized inventory. more

jerks... or by the book 3/12/2008

either way they lost a regular customer, ive probably spent a couple hundred dollars there since my first visit a couple years ago but i will not go back, didnt catch her name but i believe she is one of the owners or sim. i bought a new cd there, it did not work from day one my cd player (r)ejected it, it took multiple attempts to finally get it to play, it tried multiple players and all other cds work fine in my car... so the 30 day (or whatever the policy states) time period for returns had lapsed and the receipt long gone, but after rediscovering the cd (buried in my console) and attempting to play it i thought i would see if they had any other similar complaints or if they would trade in for another copy, she was very short with me and basically gave the cd a s p i t shine and handed it back and said it must be my cd player...\r \r never again... i hope the dump goes under Cons: dirty interior, indifferent staff... more

everything 11/13/2005

I've been shopping at CD Source for four years and they haven't let me down yet. The staff is friendly and unbelievably knowledgeable. The selection is fantastic, and even on the off chance you don't find what you're looking for, there are new things coming in all the time. A+ As a side note, I can't figure out how on earth CD World keeps getting better ratings. CD Source blows CD World out of the water both in customer service and selection. Pros: knowledgable staff, inexpensive, great selection more
