Not our first time. Server attitude was poor. May not return... Pros: frites & dessert crepes Cons: service

Worse ill mannered staff! 8/6/2011

Try calling the phone number provided in the web-site to do reservations.... you should not be surprised to be disconnected and speaking to ill mannered, rude person. If this is the response of the staff, I will never go to this place - the food and staff service both make meal enjoyable. more

Most excellent 11/30/2009

I have been going to the Brugge off & on since it opened, and I have had nothing but good experiences, sometimes better than others, but that's the perils of going out to an independent place. People might complain about service, but I think most people are too pampered by the Applebee's mentality of ""SIT, ORDER, FEED... NOW!!!"". Americans need to slow the hell down. Anyway, that's my 2 cents :) Pros: Great beer, great food Cons: Slightly chaotic on weekends more

They put the word 2/5/2009

We have been to Brugge several times...the Pro's: Great beer and Mussels.\r The cons: they have no idea what hospitality means. The service is mediocre at best, beside the mussels, the menu sounds interesting but is totally disappointing when the food comes out. Seems like they have amateurs in the kitchen and on the floor.\r The worst is the host, who will tell you that there is a 10 minute wait, then after an hour of waiting he will simply tell you that he has no control over the flow of business. This has happened to us 4-5 times now and we decided to skip this place for dinner in the future. Their lack of concern for their customers is obvious! The owner needs to be present! Good to stop in for a beer - otherwise BEWARE! Pros: Great beer and Mussels Cons: Service and wait of over 1 hour after being told wait is 10 minutes more

Great food 1/10/2009

The first time we ate here was for my birthday and what a treat! The black beer is beyond this world good. And then the food came out and wow, that too was awesome. My husband and I returned for the second time to a brain-dead hostess. She was sitting on the bench when we came in and we thought she was a customer waiting. She woke up and sat us. We drank our fantastic beers while waiting for the food. The whole time, there were two kids running around the place, jumping on the chairs. I didn't realize it was a daycare as well.\r \r Food and drinks were good. Next time, we will come back after your kids are asleep. Pros: simple, good food. Cons: Unpredictible atmosphere. more

Bummer of a Brugge 12/31/2008

I just returned from my third time eating at Brugge Brasserie and was greatly disappointed in the service. The food is consistently high quality and very good. We arrived for lunch at 12:30 and weren't seated until 1:30. A long wait can be expected at a popular restaurant; however, we were shocked at the response of the host when we asked how long the wait was going to be and he said, ""You're going to be here a long time."" This was followed up with no information or checking in to let us know how long to expect. After we were seated, it took another hour to receive our food - that is we didn't receive our food until 2:45. We wouldn't have stayed, but were in an awkward situation as we had invited friends. When we informed our server that we had been waiting for two hours for our food, his response was ""Yeah, I know."" \r \r Frankly, the restaurant has great food, but it will be tough to be successful if they continue with such poor service. I know that I will not return unless I were to hear of vast improvements in service and attitude. Simple things such as: letting customers know how long the wait is going to be when there is a wait for the tables; offering a complimentary order of fries when our food is delayed coming out of the kitchen. There are even simple things that don't cost any money, such as an empathetic response when we inform our waiter that we have been waiting for a long time for our food. Our waiter informed us that he is also a chef, which is great to have cross utilization in the restaurant; however, service requires training and it was clear that this restaurant doesn't prepare their wait staff for adequately handling the benefits of a currently busy establishment. \r \r I teach hospitality courses and have worked and patronized restaurants all over the world and unfortunately this was some of the worst service that I have experienced. As a native Hoosier, I greatly hope for the success of this independent restaurant. Pros: Convenient location, ample parking, nice outdoor eating area in the warmer seasons, fun ambience Cons: Inconsistent service, arrogant attitude, dirty bathrooms more

Thanks 5/29/2008

Thanks for all of your kind words.......except for that John5306 guy. Maybe next time we'll just seat him in front of the other 35 people waiting?\r \r more

Totally Worth The Wait 4/29/2008

The second time I went here, we had to wait for a third party to find parking so we could be seated--it's small, it's crowded, and it's always full.\r \r That must sound like a bad thing, but even in a really active dating scene like Broad Ripple, this place is always full--it's just that good! \r \r There isn't anything on the menu to avoid, the staff is hassled and strained, but you couldn't fit ne more person in the kitchen.\r \r The food is so good, the beer is so from what the rest of Indiana is offering, and the atmosphere is just so enticing you can't help but wait for your tiny table and hassled waitress to culminate in a really good meal at a really valid price.\r \r Completely romantic, and even when PACKED always gives the impression that you know this fancy little out of the way Belgian place no one else has ever heard of. A GREAT first date. Pros: GREAT food, Small, crowded and hidden bistro Cons: Small, crowded and hidden more

Excellent Beer 3/7/2008

The best thing Brugge has going is the beer. If you are familiar with Belgian style beers, they simply don't get better than this. They are brewed on the premises and depending on which variety you choose, they have very complex flavors such as vanilla, citrus, plums, and raisins among others. The food is very complimentary, as it is something that one would find in Belgium and consists of generous helpings of hand cut pommes frites, more commonly known here as french fries, served in a paper cone, which is placed in holes in some tables put there for exactly that purpose along with dipping sauces from homemade ketchup and fresh mayonnaise, to such concoctions as poplar syrup with dijon mustard. If you order the Moules Frites, you receive 2lbs of steamed mussels which come in several varieties of broths that go from the Belgian Classic consisting of dry riesling, stock, and herbs to esoteric mixtures such as the Red Curry consisting of red curry, coconut milk, and Thai basil. They also have a wide selection of crepes, filled with delicacies such as duck and caviar, soups and stews, salads, and sandwiches on french bread. Prices are reasonable and the place has become quite popular, so call ahead to make sure there is room. Pros: Ambience, Beer, Food Cons: Not too many tables. Slow service more

great pubgrub 11/14/2007

It's alway nice to see a pub style restaurant have decent food. Brugge won't dissapoint. It's belgian beer at it's finest and culinarily pleasing. I suggest the red curry moules with frites, then a crepe finish. I go there on weekdays and have no problem with seating. more

Great Belgian Brews, Relaxed, Casual, a little hard to find, but worth it! 1/25/2007

I am a home brewer, and am always searching for great places that brew and serve their own beer. On this trip, my brother and I traveled through a section of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio in search of great beer. One of my favorites is belgian beers, and I made it a point to stop here at Brugge Brasserie. We could not stay long, but the stay was exquisite. We sampled their Abbey Ale and a Black Ale, along with a cone of pomme frites, with 3 sauces; sea salt and sherry vinegar, poplar syrup and french dijon, and bleu cheese. I truly wish that I had more time to sample more brews, and their moule frites. On my next trip from Colorado this is a must-go. Pros: Belgian Brews, On site brewing, casual, relaxed Cons: hard to find more

Sophisticated Food, Casual Atmosphere 6/19/2006

Very appealling...had great waitress too...many home made items from orange drink to catsup to beer., Local ownership more

Great frites 9/5/2005

Fun place, great beer selection, delicious pommes frites (fries), served in paper cones that fit into holes in your table. There are a lot of sauces to choose from to go with it. The mussels are fresh and prepared in many varieties. Pros: Beers, atmosphere, variety more
