Brookside 66 Auto Service

My friend who works on his own cars for the most part told me that this is the place he takes all his cars for repairs that he cant manage. I have been a customer for a little over a year and have to say it is one of my favorite places because where else can you find a full serve gas station. The guys are friendly and take the time to explain things so that I understand, the manager even called my neighbor to explain about my last repair so that he could help me decide if it would be worth keeping the car. I totally trust this place! more

I have been going to Brookside 66 for a long time and have had both positive and negative experiences. After my most recent work I will no longer take my car there. I recently paid to have my brakes replaced because they were squealing and worn down. Post-brake job they still squealed but worse. I called and the customer service was mediocre. They finally said to bring my car in, again, and they would fix the problem. I brought the car in and after the ""fix""... still squealing!!! It's also a little disconcerting seeing at least one other review on this site saying the same thing about a brake job. I am proud to support a neighborhood establishment like this one but I should not have to keep bringing in my car, which is highly inconvenient, for fixes that don't work. more

I have taken two vehicles to this shop and asked for an estimate for other work. They are no better than the dealership when it comes to saving money. The service manager Dave is lacking in customer service to say the least. Buyer Beware! You'll be better off finding another shop or going to the dealer. I'd rate the work as average. more

Ive been trading with Brookside 66 for about 30 years and have found them to be an excellent source outside of expencieve dealerships. ASE certified mechanics with a wealth of experiance in many makes of cars. I understand you can't please all the people all the time but i'll bet they're in the high 90 percentage of satisfied customers For decent , honest and reliable service they get my vote. more

Can't really speak to the negative reviews that have been posted, but I just stopped in at Brookside 66 'cause I couldn't get my hood fully closed and latched after helping jump a friend's dead battery. Super nice guy at Brookside 66 solved the problem in less than 2 minutes--he had a magic touch with the latch. And he didn't charge me anything. That's what I need in a neighborhood service station. more

I don't know about the other reviews, but we have NO problems with Brookside 66. We take all of our cars there and they get it done quick. You are not able to make an appointment, but they generally get you done in about half of a day. Prices are the same as dealership or better. They are a small local company also needing to make some money. I will always go to Brookside 66! more

I'm a Brookside resident here in Kansas City. This shop is in my neighbor hood, but here's the deal. My car is a 2005 model with just over 55,000 miles. I needed the standard $12 inspection that most shops will see you on-the-spot. These guys insisted that I needed an appointment. Because of little flexibility in my schedule, I made an appointment. Problem 1: I was then told I needed a new windshield otherwise my car would not pass state inspection standards. I had a small hairline-crack in the very bottom of the passenger's side. I debated on the phone, but was told I needed to have it if I was to pass inspection. Problem 2: They also said I needed new brakepads. I probably did. But they've squealed ever since I got them. Problem 3: I've had transmission problems since my appt with this shop. Prior to this appt, I've always taken my car to dealerships servicing this make. I won't be going back for service. Ever. I was charged roughly $500 to $600 for the work. I had always purchased my gas at this shop because I felt it best to support the little guy. Sadly, I now feel that they've taken advantage of one of their best customers. I am no longer a fan of these guys. Pros: Convenient for Brookside residents. Gas station. Cons: Poor, slow service. more

I took my car in and they charged me $370 to fix my problem, however it did not get fixed. When I made them aware of this, they looked again and said they did not have someone on staff that was experienced enough to fix the problem with my car, which was not uncommon. What did I get for the $370?? I'm not sure either. I guess I got a good lesson of who not to trust when working on vehicles. \r \r Obviously upset when I picked it up, he wouldn't even speak to me, just gave me the keys. \r \r And to think I even thought these guys knew what they were doing after they didn't tighten all of my lugnuts after rotating my tires. I was driving down the road and felt my car swerving b/c my lugnuts were loose. I should have then, but I have definitely learned my lesson now. \r \r Do NOT let these guys work on your car!!! Don't take you car to this place!! They're crooks! They will rob you blind. I took my car into to have them check my thermostat which I already knew was broken and they charged me $50 bucks for it!! DO NOT USE THESE GUYS FOR ANYTHING!! Cons: They prey on customers more
