HAIR IN MY FOOD! 12/20/2011

First off--let me say that I WAS a loyal customer to Bricks. We eat at the Brentwood location probably 3-5 times/ month and we also eat at or get take-out from the Nolensville Road location 3-5 times/month for the past year+. This past Sunday, while I was dining at the Brentwood/Franklin Road location with family, we had the worst experience and because of it, will NOT be dining at Bricks ever again. I found a nasty hair in my steamed vegetables. It was so intertwined into a piece of broccoli that when I picked up the hair, the broccoli came with it. Now, I will admit that I have medium length hair and it was not pulled back that afternoon. However, if my hair fell onto the plate, one would think that I would be able to pick the hair up off the top of the food and remove it. This piece of hair, as I stated before, was intertwined in the head of the broccoli. I doubt it fell off of my head and got that tangled around a piece of food. I called the manager (who might also be the owner? tall, big belly, bad attitude) over to the table to show him the hair in my food. The only word (besides jerk) that comes to mind is completely APATHETIC! He could care less. I wasn't rude, I wasn't ugly, I wasn't really even that upset. I just wanted him to know that somehow hair was getting into their food. Because, let's get real--mistakes happen. His reaction----""there is no way that could have happened. Our vegetables come to us fresh in a sealed bag."" Okay--so a human with hair doesn't package them? A human with hair doesn't get them out of the package when they are cooked? A human with hair doesn't plate them? He NEVER apologized. He acted as if he could care less. He didn't offer to refund the meal....nothing! In fact, I saw him over behind the hostess stand talking to our server & the hostess with a look of total smirk on his face. After that point, our server never spoke to us as she came back to the table. No offer for refills, nothing. They, of course, did not refund the meal. As we were leaving, the hostess just looked at us and did not speak. They acted as if we did something wrong. The manager/owner saw us getting up from our table and turned and walked to the back of the restaurant so he wouldn't have to talk to us as we were leaving. Last I checked, the restaurant business is pretty competitive. Obviously, this guy doesn't care. The worst customer service I have seen in a long time. Because of his bad attitude (not the hair), they have lost our business. more

A couple of dozen meals and never a problem always great 8/14/2011

I'm not sure what these other people are talking about. I've been going to Bricks Cafe for years, so have my neighbors. We have had a couple dozens meals there, and the food and service is great. Great menu, great sandwiches and homemade potato chips, our kids love it also. The flat bread sandwiches are the best. Good special, good prices more

Horrible Experience for Rehersal Dinner!!! 5/15/2011

Terrible experience on May 13. Two months ago my cousin and his fiancé picked the patio at Bricks Cafe for their rehearsal dinner. The manager on duty only reserved a section of the patio and when the party showed there were not enough seats. We grabbed another few chairs and the manager came out and confronted the groom in front of everyone and told him that if he ""keeps moving chairs, you and the rest of your group can leave"" and caused a big commotion. Gladly if asked we would have certainly understood him telling us his position and found out how to help accommodate. This guy was a jerk and never been treated like this at an establishment. Apparently our party of thirty wasn't necessary for the night for this unprofessional manager. We discussed leaving but decided to stay...big mistake. At dinner, one of our party had ordered ribs. When the server came to the table, the group was praying with their heads down. Instead of waiting, she put the plate in front of him and it fell into his lap. He ended up catching it, but I cant believe she could'nt wait another few seconds.... On the way out after dinner (we should have left before ever ordering and giving any $$, but with 30 family members in town and the night before a wedding, it didn't seem to be an option. Our mistake... Mc Donalds would have been better.) the mother of the groom went to apologize for any trouble and explain that she was shocked at how she and the rest of the wedding party was treated. She asked to get the number of the owner... but Apparently thats the guy who caused the commotion in front of everyone. I stuck nearby to make sure he was being appropriate and he was belittling her. When she said that she was unaware we couldn't move the chairs however she would like him to have asked if he could help rather than being aggressive he said ""I don't really care what you think, you're not moving my tables at my restaurant"" I stepped in and said ""listen, is that really how you treat tour customers, she's trying to help you understand how we feel, you can't run a business like that?!?"" he replied ""I own three restaurants, how many do you?"" At that point id ha enough, told him that I'm not going to be talked to this way an we should have left, to which he replied ""I don't need your business, do you see the rest of the people in here eating"" and told me that ""it was time you and your party left"" and then did the most audacious thing I've ever seen. He stepped forward, puffed up his chest, and got two inches from my face. I asked him if he was attempting to intimidate me, shocked. He said ""leave"" and I turned to walk away after saying that this was never going anywhere. And he followed right behind me about two inches trying to intimidate and threaten me. I stopped and asked him if he could back up and asked loudly, ""are you really trying to threaten and intimidate me in front of your other guests??"" This owner has an incredibly obnoxious attitude and at this point I will be contacting every review site, the BBB, and share this story on every avenue I can. I am from out of town visiting for the wedding, but this guy has a problem and I can't imagine how he can run one let alone three businesses. Do yourself a favor, don't patronize a place where the owner would rather call you out because you're inconveniencing him than accommodate you in whatever way he can. People like this need to see themselves out of business. Additional details because I was asked. Nobody in our party drank a drop, so this is not alcohol fueled, this was absolutely restaurant Owner David Richard's battle with an attitude problem. more

Worst service in town 3/16/2009

When you order a meal, you expect it cooked properly, NOT microwaved!! thats how they cook alot of there meals, THEY ARE BAD. And someone tell the manager breast size does not mean they can be good servers. Our server was horrible, all she did was flirt with my husband. I even caught her talking to him when he got up to use the restroom. Never goto a place where they want to have intercourse with your husband in the bathroom. My husband is a good guy, and never would do this...but yours might do it....NOT A FAMILY PLACE. VERY BAD MICROWAVED FOOD. Pros: they have a bathroom, it stinks but they work it.. Cons: the servers are VERY BAD, the food is WORSE.... more

TERRIBLE SERVICE ANd THE MANAGEMENT IS WORSE 12/13/2008

We had our weekly outing to Bricks Cafe this past weekend. We had a former female employee with us as a guest. The BIG BUG-EYED MANAGER came up to us and told us that we had to leave because of the ex-employee. She is a good 16yr old an innocent as can be and he wants to throw us out because of her! Yes we left, they lost their $200.00 and our business. Their service is always terrible and that has a lot to do with the poor management. We only go there because it is a mile down the road Each and every time we go there we hope and pray that we will have a different venue of service, but, it never gets better. We go because of the convience. \r I will never understand why a BIG BUG-EYED MAN CAN THROW A INNOCENT 16YR OLD CHILD OUT JUST BECAUSE SHE USED TO WORK THERE!!!!! Santa will not stop at his house this year!\r SOPHIES BISTRO down the road from Bricks is the place to go. Their food and service is excellant-let me repeat that - the food and service at Sophies Bistro is excellant......Do not go to Bricks unless you want to be disappointed...... Pros: There are no pros for this dump Cons: Cons - They are Cons more

Ignore the One-Star Ratings - They are fake 12/5/2008

Please ignore the one star ratings. They are all done on 10/27 or 10/28. We have visited both locations multiple times, with and without our preschoolers, and the service and food have always been superior. I've done business lunches here and eaten outdoors there as well. The only problem was a bartender that didn't know how to make a lemon-drop martini (that's on the menu) and we gave him two tries. Bricks is awesome otherwise and we do get a great martini on a regular basis. Pros: Food selection and quality, Ambience more

Best Local Restaurant 11/21/2008

Bricks Cafe is a great restaurant, I have eaten there many of times and know many regular customers. I feel that Bricks Cafe is getting questionable reviews because there are two sides to every story. It seems that most good experiences people have they don't run home and write about, however, the bad experiences, people seem to think they should yell at the top of their lungs, and the internet gives them the power. I believe that everyone has an opinion, and I feel that I do not give credit were credit is due when I have a great experience. I am going to do a better job of rating my dining experiences with the internet and spread the word that good things happen too! \r \r I love the service Heather, Tim, Bruce, and others give at Bricks and believe in the fact that they have all been there for many of years that they believe too! Pros: Food, Service Cons: Not Enough locations! more

Avoid the place entirely! 10/29/2008

I went on vacation to Tennessee to visit family. I Drove to Nashville to visit some friends and they took me out to dinner to Bricks Cafe. Upon arriving, the place seemed real nice. We went in, got seated and it seemed like it took forever for someone to come to our table to take our order. After waiting quite a while to get our food, the only thing that I would call good, was the water. The service was horrible, the management was unmanaged and the place didn't even have a pleasant aroma. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have had better tasting food at McDonalds! Cons: service and hospitality were the worst ever! more

Rude and discourteous Owner/Manager 10/28/2008

My husband and I stopped at Bricks after traveling half of the day and we were both hungry enough to eat a horse. When we walked in to the restaurant the smell was great so I was really excited thinking we would get excellent food and great service. Sitting in the place for over a half an hour before we were even approached by a waitress we finally got to order. I had a question about getting a cheese platter with our pizza and since there was not a cheese platter on the menu the waitress reluctantly went to talk to the manager. Immediately the Manager/Owner approached us and looked at us like we were from a 3rd world country and told us that if we wanted something that wasn't offered we didn't need it and we were in the wrong place. I was totally humiliated by the way I was talked to and my husband was also embarrassed. He practically screamed at us and after that neither of us had an appetite so I couldn't tell you if the food was good or not. The rest of our stay at Bricks, the Owner stood glaring at us and it was the most uncomfortable meal I had ever tried to eat. If the service would have been as quick as the Owner to jump down our throats I might not have even thought about getting the cheese platter and then maybe we wouldn't have had to meet the Owner from the dark side. I suggest that anyone thinking about stopping at this restaurant to just drive right on by, eat at McDonalds or Burger King or even the corner gas station. You will get treated much better and be a lot more comfortable. Pros: Nice aroma upon entering Cons: Poor service, rude and discourteous manager and extremely uncomfortable atmosphere. more

Poor Attitudes 10/28/2008

My wife and I with a few friends happened to stop at your establishment and was having a wonderful time until this guy name Dave or David, I think he was the manager or something, but he more or less ruined our atmosphere with his rudeness to the customers as well as his staff. I must say the rest of the staff was very courteous to our party and told us he was always like that. I think the owner needs to get rid of this guy before he ruins their business. I'm gonna tell all my other friends to stay away from this place or at least beware!! Pros: food Cons: management more

Going to Burger King is Better Suited 10/28/2008

Never Eat Here!!!!!\r Visiting firends could never be more dangerious..............\r Waitress was ok.. But the Management needs a Reality Check with Customer Service, to bad there is no mandatory clases implemented by the state/county for Places of Bussiness like this..\r The only thing on there interested in is how to Mistreat there Patrons and Take your Money.\r We would NEVER EVER RECOMMEND this place to ANYONE\r \r Just when you thought the customer was always right.. Not at this place..Better Chance of Surviving Jurasic Park!! Pros: Eat Burger King Cons: Eat Burger King more

Worst place to eat AT Poor Customer Service from Management 10/28/2008

Recent visited this establishment and was disappointed with the way management handle the restaurant.\r \r This place would be better off closing down and or hiring all new Management to operate this establishment. \r They treat there employees as 3rd rate Food would be rated as 10th on a five star rating. more

Yuck!! 10/28/2008

Went 2 Brickhead cafe and received a very poor service, Attitude owner! yike!!! Owners needs their head exam by a Frankenstein Doctors. Will never stop in ever and go else where when I go see my momma someday soon!\r \r thanks\r Pros: Thumb up the arze Cons: Thumb up the arze more

Bad management 10/28/2008

I recently visited this restaurant with 4 friends. Whilst we found the food to be of excellent quality we were appalled by the attitude of the restaurant manager. While we were there we witnessed him being rude and very obnoxious to both other members of his staff and to customers. \r After our meal myself and my friends wished to pay for our meal separately but the manager refused to split the check for us to do so. We were quite astonished by his attitude and as a result we certainly will not be returning and will be telling all our other friends and family not to either. \r I feel this is a disappointment as the food and drink was of high quality and very enjoyable but the attitude of the manager will certainly discourage any of us returning again. Pros: food Cons: manager more

HORRIBLE PLACE TO EAT 10/28/2008

worse food ever, staff was rude and undertrained....and when I complained about my food the owner did nothing but yell at me....like it was my fault. Use common sence when going out, this isnt the place to go. Very bad place. Pros: they treat you bad Cons: they treat you bad more

Avoid.. rude 10/27/2008

Me and my husband stopped at bricks for lunch, my husband is 84 years old, and on a limited diet. All he wanted was a childs plain hamburger. And the staff manager refused to allow my husband to have it. Said he HAD to order a full size meal. I think bricks management needs a attitude check up. The waitress was nice, but to refuse a elderly mans request is uncalled for. \r I WILL NEVER EAT AT BRICKS CAFE AGAIN! more

Avoid bringing groups here, mediocre food and manager is very rude 9/24/2008

We went to Bricks Cafe to celebrate a friend's birthday with a group of about 15 people, it was our first time going there so I was pretty excited. My friend's husband called days in advance to let them know we were coming. Seating was cramped but they managed to get us seated at a table and a couple of booths. The food was average and a little overrated for the price. When we went to pay for our meal they told us it would have to be on one ticket so we pased the receipt around and figured out how much each one of us owed then paid. As we were walking out the manager ran outside and over to my friend's husband and started ranting at him because we had paid with more than one card and that we were not allowed to do that-are you kidding me-has this guy lost his mind-15 people who all had appetizers, alcoholic drinks and dinner and he wants to sparr about us paying on separate credit cards-what a NUTCASE! How rude! I just cannot believe that the manager of all people would act like this. All I know is that if you are going there and have a large party you had better pay with one card or beware of the wrath of the rude manager. I was hoping this would be a place we would go frequently but after that episode, I would not give them $0.02. Cons: Group Accomodations, Rude Manager more

Identical to Franklin location 7/11/2008

My family dined in at this Bricks one Wednesday night not long after they opened. I had hoped that this location would be a different experience from the Franklin location. I had read the reviews about the Franklin Bricks and had decided not to waste my time there. We were seated outside and soon realized that there were too many insects around so we asked to be moved inside. After a sigh and roll of the eyes, our server sat us inside. I was disappointed in this restaurant. My wife's food was cold when it arrived to the table and it took the wait staff a considerable time to fix the problem. The manager came to check on every table by our own. It seems as though the Franklin reviews are relevant to this location as well. I've had better dining experiences at non-chain restaurants. Cons: Parking, Insects more

Great food, cool outdoor seating and friendly atmosphere 6/30/2008

Love eating out at non-chain restaurants. Bricks Cafe is what that area needed in terms of restaurant selections for customers. First when you walk in, the aroma from the brick pizza oven will entice you to stay for a meal. They have a friendly waitstaff, very good food and a outdoor seating area that makes you feel a little like you are in Itlay or Greece. I would definitely recommend it for a couple or family meal anyday. more
