Buyer Be Ware 9/5/2011

Love the salmon with spinach for Happy Hour. HOWEVER, buyer be ware when you order wine off of the HAPPY HOUR menu and the waitress gives you a choice of white wine - ONE is NOT on the Happy Hour menu and one is!!! If you pick the one that is not on the Happy Hour menu - YOU PAY FULL PRICE! To me it was bate and switch! Service was very slow, didn't bring what was ordered until we ordered it again (1/2 hour later). Didn't give us a ""last call"" for Happy Hour. Still love the salmon but will probably go next door for Happy Hour in the future. more

OK food but needs nicer staff 10/14/2009

I have gone to this place a few times. I enjoy their breakfast a lot, when they can remember that you actually ordered breakfast. But the last time I went I had THE WORST experience. Apparently the bar tender thought that since my friend and I were there for happy hour we weren't as important as other customers. We were ignored for about 15 mins, although we were sitting at the bar directly in front of the bartender and it was not busy at all. Then after repeating my drink order twice I watched as the bartender welcomed 3 new people, and make 6 more drinks. After complaining she finally handed me my wine. Long story short the Manager comped our meal but honestly, with how rude the bartender was, it wasn't even worth it. I won't be going back any time soon. Pros: hapy hour pizza and breakfast is good Cons: rude, inconsiderate, and forgetfull staff more

Best Place by my house! 1/6/2009

This is a fun, casual spot. Bonus points for the fireplace, which is so great to sit by in the winter. Farther back, there are big booths that are pretty romantic with a nice view of the lake.. outdoor deck rocks in the summer, the music is rad (reggae mixes, Dave Matthews, some jazzy stuff etc.) and the servers are very friendly. The cocktails are good. Everything I've ever ordered here has been yummy; and they have a FREE pool table! We love it here :) more

Best thing going in Leschi 12/29/2008

I've been coming to Bluwater for the past 3 or so years for business and some late-night cocktails. Don't miss the dowtown/lake location either, it is a lot of fun. Leschi has some of the best service I have had. The brunette day bartender is great and late night there is a little guy behind the bar that seems to run the place. He waited on us for our last visit and we had a great time. The food is good and not too much $$. Try happy hour clams! Worth a visit for sure. A Seattle icon. more

Avoid Leschi Bluewater for Lunch 6/10/2008

We have a bicycling group that varies between 6 and 10 riders. We usually have lunch in the middle of a ride. Most places are very accomodating and thus we frequent them. However, The Bluewater at Leschi is to be avoided. They refuse to divide the checks, mostly in groups of two, will not help us devide the check (like maybe a calculator would help), the food is mediocre and overpriced for that type of lunch. My wife was sick from the food she had before we could finish the ride. On a plus side, the waitress was very nice and tried to do what she could in spite of the manager. Refusing to devide the check only penalizes the waitress and makes her task harder. We have eaten numerous times at the Bluewater on lake Union where their service and food is excellent. Pros: Good waitresses Cons: Poor management and food quality more

Sunday brunch 9/23/2007

We had breakfast at Bluewater Leschi Cafe Sunday. Nice location with a good view. I ordered The Prime Sirloin and Eggs. I confirmed with the server that the menu meant USDA Prime. The steak arrived and I am extremely skeptical of the ""Prime"" designation as described on the menu. At best the steak was average without the marbling or flavor of USDA Prime. I inquired after the meal and the server said she would check with the Chef. When she returned, I inquired again. I was told the chef relayed that they had an agreement with their meat purveyor and were to get Prime. Was the meat packaging labeled or branded? Guess not. Maybe time for a new meat source or re print the menu. Otherwise, go for the view and average food. Pros: great view more

Great People and Great conversations with food and booze to boot! 8/28/2007

I hate crowded bars. I don't show up until late night and that's why I love Bluwater. It's a nice quite bar with above average food and reasonable prices considering the menu. I don't get off work until midnight and it's nice to be able to go somewhere that serves food until 1am every day of the year. Plus, if I want a night cap they don't call last call at 1:15 like a lot of other bars, I can roll in after a long day and still get a cocktail at 1:50 in the morning, as long as I finish it by 2. Pros: Good Food, Decent Prices, Food till 1 and Booze till 2 for us late nighters Cons: Menu kinda boring. Specials don't chage often enough. more

Great when it rains 8/20/2007

I live in the madison park area, and after a thousand meals at the same restaurants we were excited when the Bluwater opened in leschi a few years ago. However, after many trips to this place, my last being just two days ago- i can only come to one conclusion. This place is too much in the summer. It seems as if people come from all over and basically overwhelm what i like to think of as one of my little neighborhood restaurants. The problem i see here is that Bluwater embraces it, and the great place i love in December becomes a slap-dash, in-and-out, mad house. The servers often seem frazzled, the food comes out of the kitchen perfect on one plate, average on another, and poor on the third. They pack their patio so full of tables is impossible to enjoy your meal, unless you like to feel like your at the county fair, and it seems the servers are often just trying to keep up- other than actually give SERVICE. Pros: Great Views, nice in the winter! Cons: Too Crowded and messy in the summer more

Am I at the city dump or...wait...this is a restaurant? 8/14/2007

Seriously. BluWater Leschi is a disaster. Read the real reviews and it's clear. I'm curious though - how does the CitySearch rating show 5 stars when most of the ratings are 1 or 2? And does anyone believe johnnyfitz is anything but a plant? Three reviews, all for BluWater, all five stars. No other reviews at all. Gosh I'm fooled. Check out the other 5 star reviews - the user only has one or two reviews and they're for BluWater. PLANTS people. Don't be fooled. Do yourself and your wallet a big favor and steer clear of BluWater until the management and ownership changes. Until then you're wasting your time and money. Pros: great location, the bottled beer is real, they employ some nice college kids Cons: everything not mentioned in Pros more

Poor Customer Service & Food 7/16/2007

I agree with Sirfrancis and truseagirl - They must have new owners because a few years ago around summertime this place was better! I sat at the bar hoping I would get faster service however that was not the case so I had to move to a table in the restaurant section. The bartenders were two busy talking amongst themselves to even notice I was sitting there. Considering the place was not even busy I would of expected faster service than that. I ordered a chicken pasta dish but it was more like a 'soup' and not tasty at all - not what I had expected! The place was better when it was the Leschi Cafe! What a change! I would not recommend this restaurant at all unless you like poor customer service, bad food and drinks! Don't be fooled by the reviews of this restaurant from the Seattle Times and PI if you note that the last time the restaurant was reviewed was 3 years ago or so! Cons: Customer Service & Food more

Overpriced and Disgustingly filthy 7/15/2007

As a resident of the leschi neighborhood I am always a strong advocate for our local restaurants. I have frequented the Blue Water Bistro for some time (over 2 years) and have steadily seen it's decline in quality of food, level of service and overall cleanliness. Cons: Overpriced and disgustingly filthy more

great in the winter with the leather couches and fireplace, and even BETTER in the summer with the water view and the awesome outdoor bar! 1/9/2007

This restaurant in Leschi has been going strong for about two years now, and I just get more impressed with it as time goes by. The bartenders are funny and friendly, the food is great, and the servers in the dining room are not only knowledgable about the menu and wine list, but they are knockouts (I realize this isn't always a selling point, but it cant hurt). We live about six blocks away, and love that they stay open and serve a full dinner menu until 1am yet also are up early to feed us for Saturday and Sunday brunch. Its entrees are about half the price of Daniels Broiler (which is next door), and the food is just as good, and the atmosphere is even better. Love this place, keep it up guys! Pros: food is great service is even better, beautiful view, what more do you want? Cons: Place gets VERY busy in summer, but a great place to realx and have drinks and dinner outside! more

No longer a good spot 5/30/2006

I wrote a review last summer expressing how great BluWater is. Now, I'm singing a different tune. Over the past month, we've had dinner at Leschi location twice, and dinner at LkUnion location once. All three meals were horrible. Only thing we could stomach were the semistrong drinks. We kept going back hoping that the staff were having an 'off' night, but seems the quality at both locations is slipping quickly. Our friends have had same experiences. Only items worth eating are Mac&Cheese w/crab (they're skimping on crab too), and tollhouse cookie. DO NOT try mahi tacos, fish&chips, or burger. Our usual favs are now drab, flavorless, and just thrown on the plate. SO NOT WORTH THE COST Pros: Locations Cons: Food more

Great spot for outdoor eating 11/8/2005

This place is a nice place for brunch or a meal outside on a warm summer's evening. Service is consistently excellent, though. There's nothing else really around Leschi, so it's a great location. The food, however, is a bit too complicated and overpriced. The menu is pretty small, too. Seems like a real pick-up joint around the bar too. Pros: patio, service, location Cons: food, menu, prices more
