Al, the technician, was terrific, as was Liz on the phone...patient and kind about scheduling. Al came back to inspect a squeaky noise that came up and fixed it first try. more

This company was extremely disorganized and very difficult to work with. The only positive thing I can say is that almost everyone was very nice (with the exception of their bookkeeper, who they should fire for being aggressively rude for no reason). The installers aren't trained properly and give you different results or answers. more

A special thank you for the discount on a filter situation, due to the diligence of Chris and the generosity and understanding of the boss. Theresa was very friendly and professional when she came to perform our AC and furnace maintenance. She was extremely thorough. What impressed me the most was that when she found our capacitor needed to be replaced, she showed me what it was rated for and actually hooked it up to her multimeter so I could see for myself that it was no longer within range. She also was super thorough about cleaning the fan fins. They were filthy when she started and sparkling when she finished. She didn't just tell me what needed to be done but actually showed me and explained to me why she recommended the services she did. more

When we recently discovered that we'd have to replace our oil furnace with a heat pump, we got bids from four heating and air conditioning companies--all of which were very competitive. In the end, we picked Blue Flame because Chase gave us the best deal. He also made the process of getting it done much easier than we had anticipated it would be. The crew that spent two days at our home installing the system--Luke, Josh, Darrin and Steve--did a terrific job of explaining everything and making sure we were completely satisfied with every aspect of the job. Each and everyone of them clearly took a lot of pride in their work. At the company end, Kailana was always gracious and made sure that we knew when the crew would be arriving and periodically checked in to see how things were going. Overall, we were very pleased with the incredible service we got from Blue Flame. We would definitely recommend them to all my friends. more

Trouble call by Eric 5/1/2017

Eric arrived on time. I had two furnaces with different issues. The vibration issue he found to be part of a bar-code label that had gotten caught in the fan rotor, throwing it off balance. He removed it, tested for vibration, then identified and described how to fix two places where items outside the furnace could vibrate against each other and amplify vibrations in the future. I have since placed insulation in both places. The second issue was with installation of an air ranger that replaced an older conventional filter. Eric redefined the thermostat warning diagnostic to more accurately define the condition, and assured me that there is no need for a pre-filter which the diagnostic had incorrectly identified as needing replacement. Excellent visit. more

Adam was early for the appointment, got right to work and had the problem diagnosed. He explained and showed me the problem. The most cost effective option is a new furnace; he presented various options for a new furnace without the sales pitch, letting me make my own decision. He definitely knows his stuff. I followed up with some second opinions. Their prices seem fair and the warrantees look enticing. I will likely buy a new furnace through Blue Flame and recommend them highly. more

Heat at last 3/17/2017

Our heater went out in the dead of winter and Blue Flame was the first to offer to send someone out right away. It was clear the heater was not able to be repaired. Adam was very patient with us and worked with us to help us decide how to proceed. We ended up ordering a new heater and AC heat pump. Blue Flame sent out a team of workers who were all so friendly and hard working. There were several glitches in the installation and they just kept working it until everything was done to perfection. The price was great, the service was excellent, and the heater works great. Can't wait to have A.C. this summer. more

  • After working for the gas company (currently Puget Sound Energy), Blue Flame owners Rodd Walker and Richard Vulliet ventured out to form their own heating companies.

    In 1994, Rich started Affordable Home Heating and Rodd formed Blue Flame Gas Service. In 2001, the two former Ballard High School classmates joined their businesses to form what Blue Flame is today.

    Blue Flame now employs close to 20 people with combined experience in the heating and air conditioning field of over 75 years. Rodd and Rich take their knowledge as service technicians and installers and pass it on directly to every employee.
