Black Diamond Plumbing

had a problem with sewer backup end February. Was told we needed to install a clean out valve on our front lawn. Then they would flush the system and all would be fine. Huge mound of dirt covered the area. gradually sank. As per installers direction my husband raked out the stones and threw don grass seed. In early July it backed up again. Manager, Herb, accused us of cutting the pipe or hiring someone to fix the lawn who had done that since his men couldn't find the pipe! The next morning the installer came out and found the pipe within 5 minutes. Put an extension on, flushed, and apologized. I updated Herb and asked for an apology. Its now August. Herb never responded. He has no business dealing with the public. more

Total RIPOFF! I had a plumber come out because of water heater that needed to have some leaks fixed after we made it a DIY project. The quote started at $160 but then after replacing five copper pieces, the total came out to $245. I was told that there is a huge markup on those ""custom"" copper fittings. Really? A 5000% markup?\r \r Then we needed the main shut off valve replaced and were quoted $400. I was assured the the plumber that I wouldn't find a better quote. Right. I told him that I wanted to shop around and really glad I did. I contacted a local, licensed plumber in the area and not only did he quote me $160 but only charged me $120 because that is how much the time, labor and parts cost! Holy honestly! The jobs were well done by both but Black Diamond is outrageouly priced! more

Black Diamond came out to my home to perform a Duct Cleaning. It was one of the BEST experiences I have had with a contractor! From the moment I called to schedule the appointment, their customer service was exemplary. They were able to work with my work schedule and get the appointment on the books quickly. The technicians arrived exactly when they said they would, not early (when I wouldn't have been ready for them) and not late (so I didn't sit around waiting). The techs explained everything that they were doing as they completed each step in the process. They were courteous of my belongings and even friendly to my children. Not a speck of dirt was brought into my home, and every piece of furniture was put back exactly how they found it. Not only were the staff members friendly and accountable, but the service itself was great. The registers look like new, and we find less dust in our home as a result. I would absolutely recommend Black Diamond and their services. more

These people are dishonest and will cheat you. Do not do business with them under any circumstances. I hope that this review saves someone else from being cheated by these bad people. more

Black Diamond has done several jobs at my home. They are always there when I need them. It's hard to find a company you can rely on to get the job done the first time, Black Diamond is that company. Recently I had my ducts cleaned by them and had a Phi Cell unit installed to reduce germs in my home. The technology is fascinating and the tech was very well informative. more

Black Diamond truly says what they are going to do and does it every time. I have been a satisfied Diamond Club member for over 8 years at my last home and now at my current home and rental property. They always show up the same day I call! We recently installed a generator by Black Diamond and while they were here, they let me know I could have my furnace checked that day to beat the winter rush. Wow! My real estate agent call them to fix one toilet in the house I was renting out. At that time, it was stated that the toilet was continuously running, must be something with the fill valve. Black Diamond came in and replaced with new fill valve.\r \r Cost 255$ more

I called Black Diamond to install a ceiling fan in my bedroom. The girl on the phone told me she could have someone there that day! I have never heard of that before. When Ricky came to my house, he immediately put on shoe covers and gave me a price on the spot. He also gave me a few different options for my basement lighting and noticed a leak by my water heater. He called the office and had a plumber sent to the house right away to help. Again, the plumber put on shoe covers right away, explained what was wrong with my heater and fixed it on the spot. These guys are top notch professionals who are friendly and helpful. I would use Black Diamond over and over again. It's nice to find a company who really cares about their customers! more

It's rare that a company says what they are going to do and actually does it. Black Diamond came out to my house the same day I called them. Unheard of as far as I am concerned. They were neat, clean, and very helpful. The electrician knew exactly what to do when I explained the power failures we were having. The repair was finished the same day too! The price was definately worth the quailty service I recieved. I am now a preferred customer and have scheduled a tune up on my air conditioner in the spring. Thank you Black Diamond and Rey! more

Our furnace had always been an area of concern since we moved into this house. We had it checked out a couple of times by other companies within the Crystal Lake area. They all just came in and spent no more than 15 minutes down by the furnace and came up and did nothing but try to sell us a new furnace. Never once did they tell us if anythign was wrong or if it would last any longer. High pressure sales and shady characters!!! We tried one last company and that was Black Diamond.....they sent a guy out to our house and his name was Kevin. He not only spent 45 minutes at our furnace cleaning it and checking it out.....he asked if we had any one out before him and we reluctantly said yes.....he said that he could tell someone took the door off the furnace but NO ONE ever touched the inside. It took me a while to write this thinking it wouldnt matter but I decided to anyways. I cant stop saying enough good things about this company. They truely have gone above and beyond the level of service that I have received from any other company I have ever had to my home before. First of all it was the morning of the blizzard and my heat went out. I tried the company I normally use and the phone just rang. I looked on line and found 2 other ones with the highest reviews and called them and 1 was an answering machine and the other actually answered my call but told me that there is no way he can get out because his only truck is stuck in a snow bank and he had to walk home. Then I called Black Diamond. The person answering the phone was Scott and he told me with out question he would have one of his guys get over to my house just as soon as possible. I called this company back in the beginning of June to come and fix my air conditioner-The guy who came said I need a whole new unit. I told them I would call back the next day. I called another hvac company to give me a second opinion. They said it was a quick fix and charged me 235.00. I obviously went with the second company and my unit worked for the whole summer. Black Diamond tried to make me buy a new unit! Do they do this to everyone? Do they not know how to fix these things? I was almost robbed from black diamond and as I cant speak for the plumbing and the electric, Do Not call them to get your heating or air fixed because they are crooks! more

I called Black Diamond to have someone come out to figure out what this knocking sound was after the toilet flushed & the faucets were turned off. It had been happening for awhile and it seemed like it was getting worse. I did some research on-line and I was afraid it was something called ""water hammer"" which can cause damage to your pipes.\r \r Herb was very thorough in investigating what the problem might be. He first wanted to see if it was air in the line. He turned off the water to the house. He then opened the outdoor garden hose faucet and some faucets in the house until all the water had drained out. The faucets were then all closed and the water was turned back on. Then, we opened up the faucets again to let the air out of the lines. I think we made a good team. I have a three story house and we both were running up and down the stairs several times that day.\r \r Unfortunately, that did not solve the problem. We both took turns listening in the basement to try to figure out where this knocking sound was originating from. He would run upstairs to flush the toilet and I would listen for the knocking sound. Then, I would run upstairs and flush the toilet and have him listen in the basement for the knocking sound. We both had different opinions from where the knocking was coming from. Herb kept concentrating on the water heater because I told him that I had first noticed the problem when we got a new water heater. To me, it didn't sound like it was coming from the water heater. Anyway, almost 3 hours later, Herb solved the problem. His diagnosis was correct. The knocking was coming from a broken check valve in the dielectric union of the water heater. He removed the check valve and no more knocking!\r \r Just wanted to let you know what a fine employee Herb is. He was very thorough, considerate and very, very patient with me. I think we worked very well together and he had a very positive, upbeat attitude. I was so excited that he solved the problem that I gave him a high five...I almost cried. I was so worried that some serious damage had been done to the pipes! Thank you, Herb, for doing such a great job. Keep up the good work! We were completely mislead and charged a total of $395 for an ignitor on a standard water heater nothing special. Not on call hours either. Do you know a new water heater is $450? I could have gotten a new warranty. I called just to ask about their pricing (after the fact), I was told I'd get a call back. I called Monday, Tuesday and WEdnesday morning and was told that they woudl email DAve (one of the owners) again. He never called back. All I wanted to do was ask a question about pricing, never gave them the address or that there was a previous service call. Why does the owner need to call me back when I just have a simple question about pricing? Rude horrible, will never use again! more
