the big secret! 5/28/2008

Its hard to find a real European style rest these days. The Bistro 44 takes me back to a French style bistro with great quick simple dishes. Chef Jayson De Marco puts together a great little menu with a good mix of seafood , salads and great appetizers. weather its steak tar tar or Kobe beef the Bistro 44 has a good mix for the hard core steak house lover or if you just want a great giant lobster roll. go check it out. Pros: outdoor fire pit Cons: too much seafood more

Best in the suburbs...and a huge bonus!!! 4/13/2008

You can opt for a fine restaurant in Boston, but why bother when you have Bistro 44 in your backyard (for us that is). Located conveniently in Bedford, MA at the Double Tree Hotel on Middlesex Turnpike, Bistro 44 is a ""best find"". This was our second visit, first time in the lounge and this time for dinner. On our first visit we had just returned from dinner at Max Stein's in Lexington and stopped by the Bistro 44 lounge for a drink. The lounge is elegant, not crowded, and the drinks, well, as good as we've found anywhere. We met Paul the manager, who said that he would put his menu, quality of food and overall dining experience up against Max's and any other restaurant in the area. We decided to take him up on his challenge. Here it is: no reservations requred (although we did make one). We parked in the hotel private lot, no hassles and no cost. We were seated right away. Our servers were friendly, professional and attentive, there were no delays of any sort. The pre-meal drinks were well done from their full service bar. Our salad and crab cake appetizers were delicious, well prepared and flavourful. The sea bass was fresh, served with prawns, safron rice and baby bok choy, superb. I left nothing on my plate. The filet mignon, asparagus and mashed potatoes were delicious, perfectly cooked and presentation was excellent (coming from a filet expert , this is a major plus). Desert was a chocolate cake; I'm not a major chocolate cake fan, but we decided to share, and this one definitely got my attention. Here is the bonus: we were treated to 3 hours of one of the best music trios we have heard in a long time. ""The Mystics"" were excellent. We felt like we were at a concert (check the restaurant for their schedule). To top it off; after dinner, music and dancing, we lounged in the courtyard by a gas fired pit - comfortable, great place to relax and met some super people. Why did we use all of the space here for this review? Because Bistro 44 is worth it!!! Pros: Location, free parking, excellent food, great service, live music, overall atmosphere... more

Can't recall the last time I had such a nice experience while dining let alone in a restaurant connected to a hotel. Food was quite nice the service was exceptional Helga and Halina were awesome. more

Giant steaks! 10/18/2007

the menu is a little differnet from most Hotel's, it had a great selection of giant steaks and the specials i've never scene before in the greater Boston area. My wife had the steak tar tare and it was different from anywhere ive ever had it,,,a soft fried egg on top and chili oil.I had the aged sirloin and it had to be more than a pound! great aged flavor and cooked to perfection. A great place to eat! Pros: Great Food Cons: Cost $$ more

Outstanding place to dine and enjoy free entertainment 10/10/2007

All I have to say is excellent service and the food is great with outstanding presentation. This restaurant is a great place for a romantic date, I highly recommend it. The place is not well known because it is tucked away in the woods which makes it more of a cozy feeling. There is also live entertainment Wednesday and Friday nights. If you get a chance to go try one of the 44 martinis they have to offer. A gentleman named Kevin I believe is great at what he does there, try to request him as your server. Pros: service, food, fire pit Cons: none more

A great dining experience 6/26/2005

Located in a hotel and the atmosphere was excellent overlooking nicely cared grounds. The service and the food were both up to a quality 5 star rating. The selections were more than adequate and the swordfish was prepared just right. Prices were reasonable and you couldn't go wrong in a dinner out at this location. Pros: service, food preparation more
