Billy's is located on a pleasant Intercoastal waterfront location in Hollywood. It serves luncheon and dinner with its claim to fame being the Stone Crab. The stone crab they served is in fact very good and its indoor market also retails it. It's not up to Joe's Stone Crab of Miami, but unlike Joe's your table is usually ready when you arrive. As everyone knows, Joe's never has anything ready when you arrive, preferring to lead to bar for at least an hour, and that is only if they took a reservation from you. \r \r Basically all of the food at Billy's is nicely prepared, tasty and served in good size portions. It is expensive, not ungodly so, and I thought worth it for what you get.\r \r I particularly like lunch. More reasonable in price, less hassle and sitting under one of the swinging picnic table canopies on the dock provides a nice atmosphere. \r \r As for service, I didn't find that to really be all that good, but at least passable. more

Lousy overall experience A Joe's Stone Crab wannabe... But not even close. Crabs were not served chilled- they were a disconcerting room temperature, sides were forgotten, bill was wrong, even the bartender made the drinks wrong - both times. Don't waste your time, money and patience. Drive the distance to Joe's and you know exactly what you are getting more

We had a great meal here of fried shrimp and sweet potato fries. The key lime pie is delicious. Love the view of the intracoastal waterway. The parking attendant was very helpful as well. We were in a hurry- trying to catch a flight in Ft. Lauderdale. They were very accomodating. more

Seriously, the worst service I have ever received including fast food chains. Went there on 12/28/10 for a nice holiday dinner except we left utterly annoyed with our stomachs growling. Yes, we actually walked out as did another table of 6 who had the same server. We might have been appeased if there would have been a manager to complain to except he was MIA. However, the bartender (who was not our server) gave us the option to wait 20mins while they tried locating the manager by phone. Yeah right, not after the service and the food we received. We basically had to beg for the bread and pray for the wine we ordered. When our prayers were finally answered, the server forgot the wine glasses and even delivered the wrong sides and an entree ordered. Basically, we figured we had a better chance of hell freezing over to get what we ordered. Also never at one point did the server apologize for how bad he sucked. He even tried to blame us for his mistakes. I think we would have remembered if we ordered the garlic cream spinach considering one of the diners with us is allergic. Really professional especially for the price - kidding. You know a place is super classy when the manager is missing in action during one of the busiest times of year. Keep those standards high right? Wouldn't ever recommend unless you have 6 hours to dine and a background in debate rhetoric to make sure you get the correct order. Makes Red Lobster feel like a five star restaurant. more

I have never had a bad meal at this bastion of great sea food.\r While the stone crab claws are the best in town, the sides and other seafood offerings are top notch. \r \r The staff was excellent and the food matched it more

Fabulous Beach Restaurant 11/24/2010

Great fish compared to others in this area. I'm sure you can get cheaper, comparable meals in other parts of the city, but for the Beach, this is the best deal and best quality. Friendly staff, great value for lunch specials! more

Wedding Party Reservations for 40 was a disaster in Hollywood Beach. The restaurant thinks they're upscale enough for a la carte menu items. They are way overpriced on everything from a larte chopped sirloin (big burger, no bun) to $100 crabs to $7 baked potato. The place is dirty, dark & dingy. The place is one of the most unorganized & unprofessional that I've ever seen. McDs is better than this. The service was horrible - we asked 3 times for another basket of rolls. One table was completely done eating before we ever got our food. My meal was OK, others complained about small portions & my son's garlic shrimp fettucini was not garlic in the least bit. He ate the shrimp & we took the noodles back to hotel to add spag sauce & reheat the next day!! Both kids said the prego sauce meal was much better than the $150 meal for 3 of us - not even impressed with salad. Drinks never refilled, etc. ... AND they auto added 20%??? For WHAT? The waiter put everything on the same check, never even asking if separate. He could not split up so we had to tell him one by one what we had so he could deduct from the main check one at a time to insure we weren't sticking him with something. That took an extra 30 mins! just to pay for our meals!! more

I was admittedly a little leery about going to Billy's after reading the reviews, but we wanted stone crab, and we wanted close, so we tried it. The parking attendant was charming and the hostess was accommodating. We had a glider table outside. Our server was very polite up until we made our order, and I think it became apparent we weren't going to be a high-dollar table, so she didn't seem as warm/friendly after we ordered, and there wasn't communication across the wait staff that one of us didn't want ice in the water. Atmosphere by the water was pretty nice, although we pulled the curtain closed on one side because the green lantern light was blinding one of our party members. The stone crab was beautifully presented, and the conch fritters were good, as was the side of asparagus we ordered. I'd say all in all it was a good experience, albeit a little overpriced. Had our hostess' hospitality extended into the evening further, I think we would've been even more pleased. more

The place smells of old stale carpet. The food is not even good. We first ordered the fried calamari and they were as tough as rubber and had that old fried oil after taste. Then we ordered the soups and we ate them for hunger purposes but they were nasty as well. To finish off, our stone crabs were not even fresh. We basically did not even touch our food. When we asked for the check, the waiter did not even bother to ask if we had liked our food. Our stone crabs were tough and tasteless. I'd rather eat stone crabs at epicure or Joe's, at least I know they are fresh. more

seafood 4/4/2009

Billy's has a great seafood menu. You can taste the freshness in all the dishes. Whatever seafood you like, they usually do justice by it. The service was pretty good. more

What a horrible meal. I saw a chef leave the kitchen and go to the restroom with his apron on. I can only imagine the cross contamination going on in the kitchen. Everything came to the table cold. Nothing like cold congealed Hollandaise sauce on aspargus the diameter of a big toe. It might as well have been a big toe. Everything was overcooked and tough as rubber bands. We had to ask for new napkins because we had to spit out rubbery seafood that our teeth could not break through. I am getting sick just thinking about it........ more

Last night, I attended Billy's Stone Crabs. My mother was visiting from NJ and this was her last night here. We wanted to make the night very special, but Billy's was sucessful in ruining it. We started off ont he wrong foot when we attempted to make reservations, Billy's refused. After arriving, we went through horrible woes attempting to park (a valet driver that will not valet your car in a one lane parking lot that we got trapped in for over 20 minutes!). After making it through the elevator to their makeshift resturaunt, we were seated at possibly the worst table in the resturaunt. As my mother sat down, a server spilled water on her pants and never even apolized! Before we could order, a glass was broken by our table and never even cleaned up. We had aligator tidbits for an appetizer and it was so tough it was inedible! Our other appetizer, escargot was poorly made, over cooked and stuffed in a mushroom cap. The sauce for the escargot was filled with cloves of garlic that almost made me sick. After eating the escargot and 2 bread baskets, a waiter finally decided to take our order and bring our drinks. (We couldnt get a pina colada because their blender was broken). About 30 minutes later i received my entree of scallops alfredo. My scallops were not cleaned and for some reason my dish was extremley spicy!! The waiter did not come back until my mother finished her blackened snapper (it was prepaired well) and I finally sent back my food. The waiter never offered another meal, or even a simply apoligy. Out of total frustration for a completly ruined meal, I decided to speak witht he front house manager who came off as very combative and simply did not care. Even though I sent back my entire meal and we were only offered one drink each, our bill still came up to $85.00. I would never come here again, ever!!!!!!!! more

Florida Lobster is different 11/24/2008

My husband ordered the seafood linguine which he said was absolutely wonderful. I had the Florida Lobster and forgot that it tasted different than the Maine Lobster, but it was still good. We had Key Lime Pie which was to die for.The service was friendly. Prices were affordable. more
