Great Repair Work 2/6/2011

I don't write these reviews much, but this little shop deserves a shout out. They're small and local, but if you need a bike serviced they do it all. My older mountain bike was in bad shape, but after a major tune up at Bicyle Jones it rides perfect! more

Great service! 12/21/2010

I needed a tire repaired for my son's mountain bike. The owner took a look at it, put it on a rack, gave it a spin to see if it could be repaired, and to no surprise, it was beyond repair. I asked if he could order a new one and he said he may have one in the shop. He found another one comparable in size and said he could take the disk brake off the old one and put it on the replacement one. Once he started replacing the ""guts"" of the wheel, he noticed that a bolt had been stripped. He found another one in the shop and the price of repair remained the same, even though he had to find another means of removing the bolt, and he threw in the bolt. As for the wheel itself, he could have easily tried to repair it (and that would have been foolish since it was beyond repair), or he could have sold me a new one (which would have been expensive). He was very friendly, engaging, knowlegeable, and helpful. The whole experience was very positive, and if I need to go back again for additional service or repairs, I'll go back again for sure. more

DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH BICYCLE JONES 7/12/2010

RidersUnited, had I only read your review of Bicycle Jones BEFORE I did business with them it would've saved me time, money, and effort!\r \r I would no longer buy so much as a gumball from this establishment. They are dishonest, untrustworthy, go back on what they promise, try to rip you off, and are rude. \r \r To make a long story short, I rented a bicycle from Bicycle Jones because they were out-of-stock on new bicycles and the owner claimed he wanted to ""keep my business"" so he told me if I rented a bike he would credit the rental amount towards the purchase of either that bike or a new one. In the interest of supporting a local, family-owned business, I agreed.\r \r On the phone he had quoted $400 for the bike, when I went in the bike had a price tag on it for $450, and then after renting the bike he tried to say it was $550 with no mention of the rental credit.\r \r I had also purchased a bike rack from Jones, and when they were installing it they bent my car roof all up. Even though they initially told me they were sorry, that stuff like that never happens to them and told me a body shop to take it to to get it fixed where one of their relatives works, after I went to get a quote from that body shop and obtain payment, Jones tried to tell me my car must've been defective or something' and that they were only partially at fault. He said he would pay $100 to that body shop 'to maintain good customer relations'.\r \r Are you kidding me?! Good customer relations would mean being honest, doing the right thing, following the golden rule, owning up to your mistakes, having people skills, etc., none of which seems to be in Jones' agenda of how to conduct a proper business.\r \r I now understand why Bicycle Jones relocated to a smaller shop and barely had any bikes in his shop, you can only stay in business so long when treating people badly before the word eventually gets out. Maybe when his business is reduced to hocking used bikes by the side of the road he'll have an ephepheny, but in the mean time it looks like I'm headed to small claims court!\r \r BUYERS BEWARE!! Pros: Local, Family-owned, Small Business Cons: Dishonest, unscrupulous, inept, rip-off artists more

Thanks so much guys!! 5/7/2009

Thanks Chris for making my mom's birthday so great - she got exactly the bike she wanted and it's a Trek! The service was fast, friendly. We'll definitely be back. Pros: fast service, nice bikes Cons: parking sometimes crowded more

Unfriendly service 2/14/2009

Went to the shop this week. Left feeling like I was an interuption to their work. I was the only one in the place, but still I felt like I was interupting something. The proprietor cut me off while I spoke and talked down to to me. I left as I came in...empty handed. Won't go back. Pros: The store is open. Cons: Rude staff. more

Buyers Beware 4/17/2008

March 28, 2008 I purchased a 56"" 2008 Trek Madone from Bicycle Jones Inc owned by Nancy T Booth for $3,845 including shipping to North Carolina. Bicycle Jones Inc failed in every aspect of this transaction except in taking my money. They failed 3 times to get the bike shipped out as promised,to provide me a tracking number & to securely package the bike as promised. Nancy Booth told me UPS refused their original packaging causing a 7 day delay. They failed to return phone calls, multiple emails & to provide a bill of sale, manual or bike documentation.\r \r bike arrived April 10,08 damaged w/ a complete fracture of the carbon frame & multiple deep scratches. A total loss & completely unusable. Bicycle Jones failed to take responsibility or offer resolution except forcing me to submit the evidence to UPS myself for THEIR insurance claim on THEIR UPS account. I requested money back immediately, manager Chris Jones refused.\r \r Per manager, Chris Jones? request, I took the bike and box on April 14, 2008 to my local Trek dealer & met with their head mechanic. They did find the frame to be thoroughly cracked & a total loss. They were appalled to find a $3,000+ bike in a box built for an $800 Trek 1.2 bike. They showed me an unopened Madone box & how it was packaged. I saw all this padding, bubble wrap & foam covering every part of the bike. I saw all the missing braces to divide and secure the parts. There were absolutely no similarities. That was the final straw.\r \r When I finally got Chris on the phone I asked for a full-refund & explained my frustration. He became very defensive, hostile & refused to refund my money willingly so now I'm forced to take legal action. They have left me no choice, but to warn the public about their poor customer service. When asking for a refund, Chris actually asked me, ""So you expect me to pay $4,000 for a damaged bike I cannot use?"" As if he had done something different to me? Buyers beware!!! Pros: take your money all day long Cons: take no responsibility for damaged equipment more
