Excellent veterinarian. Very compassionate, cares about the pets well being. Fees are very reasonable. Our dog lived a very long life thanks to his care. more

jane F \r you are very subjective and I would bet that you do not know Dr Obanion as you should - You have said very little details about your experience , but let me share our family's ---our beloved pet had developed kidney failure and we allowed him to be with dr O'Banion thru the whole phase of diagnose , treatment and therapy-we told him , do what you must and tell us what to expect ...he was most compassionate, understanding ,realistic , and honest about our guys end ......we could not ask for more ...even during the final moments-- I saw tears is his eye .......he was considerate about our family and our family's finacial concerns . I would rather be told the straight truth , than be coddled and smoozed -too many others out there just are like smoozing politicians -they say what is popular and politically correct ....I would rather see honest and up front billing than hidden charges and in fact I know that dr o'banion did much for us that was not ever billed ......perhaps you want your hands to be held or your emotions to be duped with meaningless words , he will not do that , but he will guide you with his no bs approach .......yes , you can pay more , but thankfully there are still an occasional vet that will give you value and compassion .....continue you GED studies honey , someday you will get it . And stop maligning a great vet , he is a gem . Open your eyes , look around you , you might live and learn . more

Really Bad 12/29/2011

We have taken animals here, but should have stopped the first visit. The vet is rude and condescending, and I do not know why anybody would put up with him or why we did. The QC area has some wonderful veterinarians, he is not one of them. Take your money elsewhere. more

A great place to take your pet 7/20/2010

I worked for Dr O'Banion for almost 5 years. Although I have moved away, I still find him to be the most caring Veterinarian I ever had the privilege of working for. I wish I still had access to such a caring doctor. He took excellent care of my pets, often stayed overnight at the clinic to care for some of his clients and always put his patients first, sometimes at the expense of his personal life. I have never told anyone how much I admire him but I'll bet that no one will ever speak more highly of a former employer than I do him. Pros: knowledgeable, professional staff more

reply to unfair comment 5/12/2010

""Hannah "" You might be advised to step out from behind the anon personna and tell the whole truth .You have never set foot upon our business property and would not be able to identify any of our staff members if you were to meet them upon the street . You simply phoned our business , price shopping and seeking a cheaper quote when your own ""regular vet "" gave you a price that you thought was unfair ,You ""declined "" our reccomendation to perform pre-operative /pre- surgical blood analysis , stating that you did not want to spend the money , Fine , that is well within your right , but know also that many hidden aliments are present in geriatric animals , let alone those with FIV , And to the layman ,all may appear healthy on the outside and be abnormal on the inside thus creating a severe anesthetic and recovery risk . Any doc , human or animal, who procedes in such a manner is asking for trouble to occur - be it a medical or legal issue .Thus the issue of refusal of service .It applies to both consumer AND provider . Why put your loved pet at increased risk - NO THANKS to owners such as that . You were politely told ,"" no thanks"" , yet you respond with vitriol , move on , continue to patronize those who you can dictate medicine and get over it .. . Pros: down to earth -no baloney -tells it like it is Cons: selective , man of principles more

Your pet deserves a vet who cares - go elsewhere! 4/22/2010

Their advertisement says: ""Youâ??re always welcome at Bettendorf Veterinary Hospital; we hope that you will join us sometime"". Actually false advertising. They refused to provide a routine dental cleaning for our perfectly healthy cat because he is a senior and tests positive for FIV. This cat is a wonderful boy we rescued who is sweet and even charms people who don't like cats. He has been a loving member of our family for 6 years and we expect to have him around many more. He even has his own webpage and many local fans who are charmed by his rescue story of a feral who adopted us. FIV positive cats do not always develop the disease and can live long healthy lives. They also do not easily spread their disease. Our beautiful gentle giant is a wonderful example of this and likely he will be with us for years to come. He has never spread his disease to our other pets. Many of our cats have lived to 20+ under our care including one now who is 18 and has been with us most of her life. No thanks to vets like Dr. O'Banion. Pros: none that I actually know of Cons: see review more
