Bertone Volvo & Saab Service

Bertone Volvo in Alhambra provides superior, honest service! I have been going to Bertone for years and only trust Chris (owner) and his technicians to work on my Volvo. Chris is the ""doctor"" of Volvo's, he is extremely knowledgeable and I will not let anyone but Bertone Volvo technicians work on my Volvo. If you love your Volvo and I love mine, then Bertone is the place to have it serviced. I am very busy working on my Masters and do not have the time/money to waste on mechanics who do not truly undertand Volvo's. more

HONEST. They are very honest. I found it hard to find an honest mechanic. Having been ripped off by numerous auto service chains and shops I was very happy to finally find one which I could trust. Seriously, these folks work hard and are honest. In my experience they have NEVER recommended repair work which wasn't needed, and often told me which work I could hold off on, and which was critical. It of course takes a little bit of time to trust a new mechanic, but if you take the time to talk with them and see their work you should soon agree with me. I highly recommend them. So much so, that my next car will be a volvo because I now have a mechanic I can trust. more

I have a 1989 Saab 900 16v Turbo. Needless to say nobody in Los Angeles was able to repair this vehicle properly. Ive been at every so called ""swedish auto center"" in LA. I meet Christian, Mike, Nouran & Steve. They were to the point, efficient, and hands down knew everything about Volvo & Saab. I was also amazed to find out the Christion who is a swede; worked on a design and testing team for volvo in the mid 80's. The man actually took part in design of the 240 turbo volvo engine. Given the other reviews, I'm sure these guys know their stuff but they recently mis-diagnosed my car problem. When I went to pick up my car, the mger/owner assured me all was repaired given he just test drove my car. I then paid up and less than a mile down the road, all the warning lights came back on and w/in another 2-3 miles, the car problem was back. I called a Volvo dealership and another independent Volvo shop and provided them w/ the same description of my car issue as I had done for Bertone. Both of the other places independently diagnosed it as a separate issue. I since have had my car repaired based on the second and third opinions and the car is now running fine. Perhaps the lesson here for all is, call around and get a second or third opinion before plopping down big $ for a car repair. On a more personal level, I suppose I can understand that things get mis-diagnosed, but doing a test drive or shake out should tell you whether what was done fixed the issue. Something went wrong here other than the mis-diagnosis. Best of luck to Bertone and I'm sure they do good work - just not on the day I brought my car. I hope I was the exception but if I was not, I hope this summary provides a balanced perspective. Pros: Seemed very knowledgeable Cons: Over confident? more

Had some power problems with my Volvo lately, and took it to Christian (The owner), and he figured out what was going on with it and fixed it. If you want reliable, friendly service, this is the definately the place for you. Pros: Friendly service, very knowledgeable. Cons: Kind of a small place, but this isn't really a big deal. more

My first visit to Bertone and I am sold. These guys know their stuff, are friendly and fast. I now have a reliable crew to take care of my baby! more

I can whole heartedly recommend Bertone Volvo. I normally do not provide reviews, but Christian J and his wife are some really great people that are honestly caring individuals. I can vouch for all the positive comments the previous posts have outlined. One I can not emphasize enough is his integrity, honesty and fairmindedness. He will tell you what you need and what you do not need. He will recommend parts that are best for your car even if it isn't volvo parts. If you are into performance/after market equipment (ie exhausts, ECU etc), he knows this arena too. I have taken my car to several other Volvo service places before but will now only go to Bertone Volvo. Great service, great value, knowlegdeable staff, good people...it's a win-win! I highly recommend Bertone Volvo-Saab. I searched for quite some time to find a good mechanic and went through several of the better-known service shops in the LA area. This guy (and his crew) are really into Volvos and know what they are doing. It may not be the fanciest shop in town, but the work is excellent. \r \r Christian Johansson, owner of Bertone, is by far the best Volvo and Saab specialist in SoCal.\r \r 10 reasons to use Bertone:\r \r 1) they are trouble shooting experts and won't immediately say you have to buy $$$$ parts\r 2) sometimes you can get a loaner when a car is available otherwise you get a discount at Enterprise across the street\r 3) they repair things right the first time\r 4) they will not rip you off; very fair pricing for parts and service\r 5) they are Volvo enthusiasts and are not jaded or bored mechanics\r 6) will stay late to fix your car and/or arrange convenient scheduling\r 7) they are friendly and easy going\r 8) as a regular customer they will go out of their way to keep your car in top shape\r 9) incredibly knowledgable about Volvos; they are experts\r 10) the owner is Swedish and wears clogs! more
