This is the second and last time I use Benjamin Franklin. I had a pipe burst in my front yard and due my last work was a ""Priority Customer"" and got Kim out to my house. He was on it about getting water back to my house as soon as possible, but that was about it. As soon as he got paid I had to track him down for answers and time frames for the completion of the project after that...he got his money and was outta here. He offered no follow-up, which would have been nice considering the nightmare of a sub contractor, Todd Weist, that came in to dig the trench for the pipe...this guy did not care about my property at all. He clearly stated to me that he had no responsibilities outside of digging the trench and that is exactly how he and his crew handled it. No follow-up from Kim or anyone else at BF. Please, think and make another call before you use these guys...you might thank me later. more

Mike Buckley from Ben Franklin Plumbing came to my house due to a hot water heater leaking. He was quite up on his products. He gave me several options and we came up with the right one for me. I saved money and at the same time gained efficiency. Mike was quite professional and courteous during his visit. more

When the water heater broke last Thursday morning, I immediately panicked seeing the amount of water rushing from under the broken unit and starting to flood my basement. What I did seconds after that is what saved my carpet, walls, furniture and electrical equipment? I gave Benjamin Franklin a call. It was a great relief when you showed up in a very timely manner and ensured that there was no further damage to my home.\r \r I appreciate the expert due diligence that was performed on the environment and the various options you provided me. I felt I had many choices, was well informed and feel good having followed your recommendations. I decided to replace everything since the home is 20 years old and these being all original units. I could not have picked a better company to entrust such an important and critical work.\r more

Oh my goodness, what a new experience in such wonderful and concerned service. Tim and crew were awesome in every way possible. Going the extra mile, taking extra-good care, most respectful and knowledgeable and 5 stars for being ?on the same page? in connecting with a customer. I?m in the club for sure. more

I am a single woman in my 60/?s who is so thankful for this company. I had a pipe burst while I was at work and came home about 6:30 pm to water gushing from a broken pipe under the house. Even thought their schedule was full, they got someone there to help, (unlike a different company I called, who advertise emergency help but was unable to provide it!). The technician, Jeff, was so understanding and helpful and saved the day. I can imagine what my water bill might have been! Thank you so much. I will definitely use this company again. more

He is a real credit to your company, his profession, and above all to his fellow man. tThe kind of man any company would want to have as an employee. I just wanted to send a note to tell you how AWESOME this company is. First, you guys totally saved the day when I needed a service call. The tech that came out to my house was great, efficient and explained everything to me very well. He explained the Club Membership program to me and I decided to enroll. I literally just got off the phone at 11:05pm to schedule my annual system flush/maintenance. How cool is it that I can truly call and speak with a live person this time of night?! Way Cool. Then, I just talked to the friendliest guy ever. His name is Tavares (my apologies if I spelled it wrong). He was so nice and helpful that I couldn't help but to smile the entire time. To receive that level of service this time of night is truly amazing. I am very thankful that I called you guys in my time of need and I will happily tell anyone that asks to call Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. Kudos for a job well done. more

The company is solid. We had them come out give us a quote, and they started the work immediately. Their plumber Kim Knopp is the best we have ever dealt with. We experienced brown water coming through the pipes, he was their prior to the appointment & very professional. They also had the owner T Rae, come out to check the job afterwards. The city also came by to review the work, job well done. Fair pricing, & very professional. more

I would not deal with these people. I have seen them in the Steele Creek area where I have lived since 1982. All the houses here in 12 Oaks were plumbed with black pipe running from the house to the meter. I have seen dozens burst and require replacing. It is very simple to trench beside the old line and drop in another beside it. My neighbor did his in 4 hours with a tiller and shovel. This is the second time I have seen Ben Franklin on my street recently and each time it takes days for them. Today will be the fourth at my neighbors and the guys sit in two vans outside the house all day without shoveling the dirt back in the ditch just milking the clock. They did not even have a backhoe and rented one from United Rentals that was delivered and picked up yet they still sit there. I wonder if it is a low income government supported deal. more

Would not give an estimate of work on the phone, the employee said they ""had to look"" but since we bought the kitchen sink fixture and just needed it installed, and she said ""I don't think it'll cost that much"" we had them come to the house. Come to find out the plumber said ""It's a FIXED cost for this particular item, it costs $280 for 1 hour of work and they want you to join 'some club' to get a reduction. DO NOT LET THEM SET A FOOT ON YOUR PROPERTY without getting an estimate of the work value first, they charge a $60 service fee that they pretend to ""wave"" when they gauge you for your repairs! The technician smelled my garbage disposal and recommended based on 'smell' that it be 'replaced'... oh by the way it worked FINE, did i mention I couldn't use it CAUSE THE KITCHEN SINK WATERS OFF duh! And the technician went into my garage without my permission and put an 'emergency sticker' with their number on my hot water heater! Um... I'm home, did you ask permission to go in my garage??? NO. STAY THE HECK AWAY from this plumber. That being said... they're ontime, polite and no plumbers cracks. I have used this plumber for several repairs, they do good work, and they cost too much. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/8/2012

Terrible. Estimates going from $2800 (before a club discount) to $4100 once our insurance company was involved a year later. (which was doctored because they didn't apply the club discount to the original estimate). They had kleenpro come out to clean up, who is pushy about having their flooring man do the repairs. Shady, you can tell an obvious lie. They contradicted themselves over and over again. Do NOT use Benjamin Franklin for your plumbing needs. I wish I had looked at their rating before using them. more

DO NOT USE BENJAMIN FRANKLIN PLUMBING! 8/8/2012

I wish I could give them negative stars!\r \r A toilet in my office had a broken flange. BF came out and quoted me $3500 for the repair saying the concrete slab had to be jack-hammered, destroying the floor, the pipes and flange replaced, the toilet replaced and then they could re-set the toilet temporarily while I contracted with a flooring company to repair the floor. \r \r I called anther plumber who fixed the problem in 2 hours for less than a tenth their charge and the floor was not destroyed. \r \r BF returned when I refused their offer and charged me $320 for a service call and to "pull the toilet". So I ended up paying BF the same for their "diagnostics" that I paid for the actual repair.\r \r I will NEVER RECOMMEND THEM! more

""I just moved to our ancestral home in Charlotte and lots of facilities\r are not working so i need to do a lot of renovations I need to redo\r the kitchen pantry/laundry area/hot water heater. Yes, all of that in\r a space that most people have for just their pantry in modern homes.\r The biggest space sucker was the hot water heater and since it’s a 10+\r years old it was probably going to need to be replaced before too\r long. We consulted a lot of Plumbing companies in the area but they\r could not do as the specifications that I wanted good thing I check\r online and found Benjamin Franklin Plumbing I check their site and\r they have water heaters item so it’s convenient to hired them and buy\r the heater from them as well.\r \r I phoned them and book schedule for estimates and Wow...the supervisor came to the house to do the estimate. He was a professional looking dude who really seemed to know what he was talking about. He knew how many BTU's we needed to tell the gas company we needed. He had knowledgeable opinions about what size we needed and placement of the new machine. Price is good so i hired them immediately.Installation process took one day and went very smoothly. The plumbers were very professional, super clean and giving me kind suggestions for completing other half-assed home improvement projects we had started. I am very satisfied with the product and service rendered. \r I highly recommend them to all my friends who need similar service."" more

You Get What You Pay For 7/18/2012

I read the reviews and was well informed when this company came out. First I would like to say you get what you pay for. What I got and paid for was quality service, peace of mind and \r great service. The technician, Tim, was very informative and knowlegeable. He took the time to explain how our systems work and answered every one of my questions very patiently and I could tell he valued me as a person not just another customer. Sure you may be able to find another plumber that cost less, but the return you get for your money is what should be weighed out. I would recommend this company over any other and always say you get what you pay for. more

BUYERS BEWARE. I called Benjamin 6/4/2012

BUYERS BEWARE. I called Benjamin Franklin to replace my Water Heater and Sump Pump. What a fool I was. Their quote was for $2,711. I told them I had to get a second opinion and they charged me $49 for the service call. I got the work done with another plumnber with comparable equipment for $1,300. After such a disparity between the Ben Franklin Quote and my actual installation, I asked for my $49 back. I didn't really expect them to give me my $49 back and of course they did not. I spoke cordially with the General Manager who made it clear he would not refund me. It was obvious he could care less about customer service and would rather have his plumbers charge an arm and leg to some sucker than keep an honest customer happy. They are all about MONEY and nothing else. Stay away from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. BUYERS BEWARE more
