Best

I love this place! the food is great and the cooks do an amazing job.

Worst

I've been to the one in Torrance and I thought it was ok so I took my boyfriend to the one in Beverly Hills since he's never been to Benihana before. We ended up getting a Mexica...

Who knew that asian food had so much butter in it? Watch them cut and chop and skewer at your table and see how they glob the delicious butter on everything. Who cares what you're eating or paying. BUTTER. more

Was here for a birthday party and it was really good. Very fancy and expensive but the chef and the food was great. The chef was not very talkative but the food made up for that. Had to do valet here because there really is no self park, so you kinda have to do valet. more

Pros: the seafood sensation Cons: eating at the table with other people u dont know more

Family, Food, Fun 7/10/2008

I've been to the Encino locations many-a-time for birthdays/ celebrations/ all sorts of festivities and they never disppoint with their entertaining preparation and always delicious, fresh food. Cons: pricey more

cliche but consistent for birthdays & big groups 5/1/2008

this place is the same no matter which city you're in. the only thing is there's never an asian guy grill master. it's usually juan or jose or eduardo. so the 'authenticity' is lost in that respect. but the food is (bland & boring) consistent and the grill masters' individual little tricks w/ what he does w/ the food does sort of entertain (like the steamy onion moutain or high air shrimp toss). it's great for big groups and cliche birthday dinners. Pros: great for groups Cons: not that great food more

Interactive Dining 11/22/2006

You can never really go wrong with Benihana. It's interactive, it's fun and is fairly priced. While we enjoy eating at Benihana, there are numerous competitors on the scene these days. Benihana provides a very closed off atmosphere with almost no windows or ventilation. The food however is very good and made right in front of your eyes. While that provides some nice entertainment, the preparers seem a touch bored and the menu simply outdated. Again, Benihana provides a good solution to eating out for some good food and a touch of ambience, but we wouldn't recommend it for a anything other than a quick bite or a small birthday party these days. Cheers - Red Butler (Personal Assistant & Concierge Services) vvvvvv:RedButler:com Pros: interactive dining Cons: poor service, boring menus more

Great location! 11/22/2006

This is one of the nicer Benihana's I've been to. You have to valet and the whole place has a more upscale feeling to it than some of their other locations. We were seated quickly and introduced ourselves to the rest of the table. Our food was delectable and the chef very friendly. I really love their sauces here! Their cocktails were strong and reasonably priced. I even enjoyed their sushi. I'd definitely go back! Cons: sometimes have to wait for your table to fill up more

Tepanyaki Grill Action 11/3/2006

Always a birthday favorite, this place entertains while it feeds. The chefs look like they've done the onion volcano one time too many, but nevertheless, it maintains it wow effect. The food is always tasty, and hot off the grill. The restaurant is always crowded. It does come at a bit of a price, but I've never left this place hungry or without leftovers. Pros: Grill Chef, no need to bring conversation Cons: Price, Valet more

Don't expect anything! 10/17/2006

I've been to the one in Torrance and I thought it was ok so I took my boyfriend to the one in Beverly Hills since he's never been to Benihana before. We ended up getting a Mexican cook who did not speak a word in english nor did any SHOWS!!! The whole point of dining at a restaurant such as Benihana for the price ranging $40 per person is to get entertained by the cook (I wouldn't call them chefs). He did not speak a word to anyone in the table except for the Hispanic couple. I was very disappointed. The food was horrible! Everything he made was too salty from too much soy sauce. How can you mess up on a fried rice??? I even paid extra for that. Try to avoid going to the one located in La Cienga! Pros: service Cons: valet fee of $4.50 more

Fun, but not great 7/16/2006

Benihana is always a fun place for a party, mostly because you can sit a group of people around one table. The chefs at this particular one, however, were not as lively and interactive as the other ones I have been too. It's a little pricy for what it is, but the soup and vegetables are always good. Pros: good food, fun Cons: pricey more

it all depends on the chef 5/8/2003

benihana's is not about the food...for the price you are paying you might as well grab panda express. the real deal is the chef's tricks with his knife. try to sit at a younger chef's table if possible. fried rice is also better than regular. you'll notice there are rarely any asians dining at this place...go for the tricks, not the cuisine. Pros: good parking Cons: standard food more

sake it to me 12/31/2002

great food and ambience (dependent, of course, on what sorts of strangers share your table), try the scallops! on holidays/special occasions (i.e. valentine's day), there is a bit of a rush to get customers in/our. the drinks are good, a little pricey. sometimes the chefs aren't in the best spirits, which dampens the experience, but i suppose they're human too :) Pros: good food, fun place, good drinks Cons: risks of the table, pricey, sad chefs! more

""Excellent 2nd Time Around"" 6/16/2002

I had been to Benihanas before and was disapointed.(even wrote a so-so review on it)But this time around, it was excellent. The cook and the atmosphere was great. The chef was very playful and put on a good show. The food was delicious. I had the Benihans Special. When you do go, go in high spirits and encourage and cheer you cook to get the best enjoyment!!! Pros: good show, fun Cons: a little pricey more
