Best

I highly recommend this office. Very professional, efficient and friendly. Two thumbs up :)

Worst

I work for Duke University and against my better judgment of going to Duke Eye Center I went to 'this place.' The reason for going to 'this place' was just in case my eyes needed ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 4/11/2013

I have been going here for as long as I can remember and it seems that every time I leave there I have am regretting going there. Both Dr. Forsyth and Dr. Bedsole are very condescending and rude. Maybe it's because I am a young female who also works in the healthcare industry or maybe they have something written on my chart that puts them in a bad mood, because I have never left there and felt like it was a good experience. I hate that I am writing a bad review because the office staff is very helpful and so are the glasses associates (the man is awesome, he made sure my glasses were perfect before I left last week!!). My family used to come here for their eye exams as well and switched a few years ago because of this situation. I had recently switched my eye doctor but she was unavailable the week I needed an appointment so I came back to this place because I was desperate and felt like it couldn't be THAT bad... But it was. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/22/2012

Don't use this business. They do not stand behind their product. I purchased a $700 pair of progressive lense glasses with special scratch proof coating. I noticed tiny blisters on one lense that started to peel off. I thought it was a foreign material that I could not clean off. I took it in to Eyecarecenter and they said it was a defect in the scratch coating and that I would have to buy all new lenses. They said that they could not and would not repair it or make it right. more

By Far The Best Eye Care Doctor... 4/28/2012

I highly recommend this office. Very professional, efficient and friendly. Two thumbs up :) more

Not Interested 3/18/2012

No doctor is perfect. It is great that some people have had good experiences, but it is rude to assume the bad reviews are just for the wrong office. I am grateful for all of your shared experiences as both the good and bad create a bigger picture. Ultimately I sense that there are places with less confusion amongst its clientele and more consistent behavior towards new clients. more

Excellent Care 3/11/2011

Dr Scott Bedsole and the team at Eye Care Center are the best. Dr Bedsole recently discovered a disturbing condition had developed in my eyes. He was kind, patient and caring in discussing my condition and my options. He answered all my questions. He treated me as though I was the only patient he had. (If you ever have to wait beyound your appointment time at ANY doctor's office, please consider that the doctor may be spending extra time with a patient who has just recieved bad news.) He was even concerned that my insurance would cover the costs that will be incurred at Duke when I see the specialist there. The staff has made sure that I get the appointments I need and always make me feel welcome and not only cared for, but cared about. more

My Family's Choice 8/16/2010

My whole family has been cared for by the Optometric Eyecare team as long as I can remember (I'm 25 now). They have always been kind and personal and given quality service. more

Excellent Eye Care with Souther Hospitality 1/23/2009

Dr. Forsyth has been my doctor for over 10 years. I have only great things to say about his skill, his practice, his disposition, etc. He and his staff are always so pleasant to work with. I recommend him to all of my friends & family. \r \r The are efficient. I never have to wait over 5 mins. They offer excellent service.\r \r \r more

Never Had An Issue 10/10/2008

I have been going here for a few years and have never had an issue. I have found the office staff to be very nice and the optometrists to be very helpful when it came to the insurance and finding ways that I can get discounts with my insurance. \r \r I do recommend before you go though, you find out from YOUR INSURANCE company if this center is on your list of allowed doctors. They take a lot of different insurances and its your responsibility to find out if they cover yours through the company. Also its your responsibility to find out what your insurance will pay for or not pay for. Or if you are like me and have a VSP where they offer discounts, talk to the office before you make your appointment to ensure that they have the VSP discount list for your provider. Pros: Staff is always nice and polite, they make the lenses there (except if insurance doesn't allow) Cons: Sometimes, there is a wait but that is usually because the doctor is taking his time with a patient or the patient came late. more

Great doctors and staff! 7/29/2008

I have had exams and purchased glasses here for many years, so has my husband and my 80 year old mother. The staff is always pleasant, helpful, patient and knowledgeable. My only ""room for improvement "" suggestion is to add more choices in designer eyewear.\r \r \r more

Incompetent Take Your Business Elsewhere 4/9/2008

I work for Duke University and against my better judgment of going to Duke Eye Center I went to 'this place.' The reason for going to 'this place' was just in case my eyes needed to be dilated. etc. etc. I know SOP for eye exams and I live in Raleigh (I work in Durham). I got off work at 3pm arrived at 'this place' at 340pm and my appointment was not until 430pm. I spent 45 minutes or more discussing my insurance with the office personnel. I'm going to be generous and say that they've heard of Duke... just wasn't aware that people worked for Duke and that Duke has it's own insurance plans. At one time during this awful visit about 30minutes in they tried to sweep me away to an exam room....and I was like 'No if my insurance is not accepted I might as well leave.' Unbelievable!!! I knew exactly what they were trying to do start the exam and then after it was over say they couldn't process my insurance and stick me with some out of pocket expenses.\r \r What makes things worse is when I called to schedule my appointment I asked do you accept Duke Select and her response was 'yes.' btw for the other responses.... I know the office I'm referring to and it is:\r \r Optometric Eye Care Ctr\r 101 Sawmill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615-6148\r 919-847-0051\r \r They are incompetent when it comes to insurance filing and are naive to think that patients are as incompetent as they are. Pros: None there are lots of optometrists in Raleigh take your pick just not here. Cons: Office Staff more

Very professional and courtesy 4/8/2008

I am shocked by that one review. It seems like the person has the wrong office. I have been going to Dr. Forsyth for about 15 years and feel he is one of the nicest, most caring doctors I know. The staff has always been so friendly and helpful. They work with you on your insurance and do whatever they can to find out your reimbursement information. I have referred people to them that have been very happy and will continue to do so. more

Great! 3/6/2007

I have been going there for almost 10 years myself and wouldn't go anywhere else! I just got married and since my husband moved to north raleigh I am referring him too! more

Very friendly, but professional 8/16/2006

I felt that I must repsond also. I'm sorry that person had a bad experience. I have no problem in recommending this office to someone. I have been going to this office for at least 10 years. I have always been treated friendly and professionally. Dr. Forysth is very friendly and is always helpful and caring. Maybe it's not the doctor or the office. Pros: very little waiting, professional, friendly more

Do not go to this office 1/26/2006

I also feel compelled to write as two visits I had there were awful experiences. The doctor I felt was very rude and the staff also very unprofessional as the other review describes. Additionally, they will not give you an out-of-pocket estimate before the exam, yet you have to sign a document that says there will be ""additional charges"". I ended up paying more out-of-pocket money than I should have after insurance paid for what should have been the majority of it for an in-network doctor. Cons: SERVICE, DOCTOR more

Response 7/19/2005

I feel compelled to respond and disagree with the existing review. Dr. Forsyth has always been courteous, attentive, and responsive. I personally find him to be very friendly. I have never had a problem with the office staff. In fact, they have been polite and helpful. One woman in particular was very patient as I struggled for over half an hour to get my contacts in the first time. Quite simply, this is a good office/practice that I am comfortable recommending. more
