Beck Furs / Berkshire Furs did not perform cleaning that I paid for.\r I think it is important to make people aware of the very questionable business practices. I say STAY AWAY!!!\r I found a soiled, smelly, but intact fox fur jacket at a tag sale and took it to Berkshire Furs / Beck Furs be cleaned. It was returned to me not cleaned at all. My expectation was rather low –just for the obvious soil to be removed and that it would smell better. The proprietor, Jeanne Carmel told me not to expect it to come back white like it was when it was new. I was okay with that. She said she would work on the smell. I was okay with that, too.\r I took pictures of the jacket before leaving it to be cleaned and there is no discernible difference. It still stinks of badly of cigarettes & perfume. The fur still feels oily, the sleeves & jacket bottom still look dirty and ratty with obvious soil. The stains on the sleeve linings are still there. There was sand in the pockets when I dropped it off that is still there! It did not even come back on a hanger! I was charged $75 for this dis-service. \r I called to complain and Jeanne Carmel wanted to know what made me think that cleaning had ‘t been performed. I gave her the above stated reasons. Her first comment was that I should “turn the jacket hem side up and give it a good shake”. I told her I thought that was all she had done to clean it. Moving on from there, we began to discuss the lining stains. She told me they do nothing with the lining, that they only clean the fur, which she failed to indicate when I gave the coat to her. I asked about the matting on the sleeves – she said that she thought that the jacket looked very good when it left her shop. I asked if she was saying that my friend had made it dirty before giving it to me. I asked about why it wasn’t returned on a hanger. Jeanne said all they had were wooden ones-(so, why not use one?) Rather than continue to detail out our conversation, for purpose of this review I will say that instead of addressing my concerns Jeanne Carmel repeatedly tried to evade them. \r I made the #1 mistake by paying in advance for this. I did that for my own convenience, because I intended that my friend who lives near Berkshire Furs in Hinsdale, MA to be able to pick the jacket up. Had I picked it up myself, I would not have accepted it. I am going to give 1 more chance for them to perform the job I paid for. \r I picked up the coat on 12-6-2013 and it has now been cleaned. It should not have been that difficult.\r more

The store is dirty, the apparel & coats are dusty and the prices aren't worth it! Additionally, the staff is extremely rude and arrogant. more

*Watch your back and have them request ID and permission*\r Left 3 furs for cleaning: ankle length mink, dark colored shearling in very feminine style, and light colored classic shearling in male style. (am a tall slender female and the classic shearling looked great with jeans and boots)\r Beck folks seemed to find it not eventful that my exhusband called *repeatedly* asking when MY furs would be back from cleaning and ready for pickup. I'm talking daily phone calls, something that would certainly lead one to question....? my ex of course knowing where I USED to have my furs cleaned....\r Particularly when said ex showed up and paid ONLY for the cleaning of the man's shearling, which he wanted for himself. \r And without contacting me, Beck Fur personnel released it to him for the modest cleaning fee!!!!!!Did not contact me that my coats were ready until the classic shearling had already been stolen for the price of a cleaning fee. I was shocked when I went to pick up three coats and only two were there. I discreetly asked to speak to the weekend manager privately, and she was quite gracious. \r Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the owner/proprietor who was disrespectful and rude to me---this after releasing a $2K coat to a person to whom it did not belong without contacting me for permission for the price of a cleaning fee ($150 or so)--if my ex were such a doting husband don't you think all 3 coats would've been picked up?And weren't they concerned when he called repeatedly only for information about the classic man's style coat ?(which can be worn by either sex and incidentally was a gift from him) \r I've subsequently bought two other coats at other stores and will certainly never use this business for cleaning or other services again. The disrespect and arrogance I encountered when merely expressing my concern and disbelief that a fur would just be released to anyone at anytime: no questions as to why my ex was only picking up one coat? why he'd called on an almost daily basis knowing that in the past I'd had my coats cleaned there? no red flags in this behavior?\r Amazing arrogance and tacky coats. I prefer to shop in the city. more

truly the best fur store i have ever stepped foot in! great prices! great selection! great quality garments!!!!\r \r those ladies working there really know what they are doin!!! helpful and friendly and concerned about your happiness! Pros: selection, prices, quality Cons: not open enough hours more
