I used Beastie Boutiques grooming service for the first time about 3 weeks ago. I wanted to support local business and get away from the chain stores. Big mistake on my part. The groomer butchered my dog's fur. I thought we had an understanding as to what I wanted but I was wrong. I have a Pomeranian and I asked her to keep her fluffy but round her up. We even talked about how bad it is to shave these double coats. I was shocked to see that she did in fact shave my dog down to about 1/4 inch and cut her ruff down to nothing. She wasn't even shaved down evenly. She had choppy areas and long pieces hanging on her legs and back side. So needless to say I was upset but didn't make a scene in the store. I did email both Kristina and Roger (owners) however. After one week of not hearing back I wrote them again. Still no response. There is nothing I can do about the bad cut but was just asking about their policy on customer satisfaction. They had me pay for the grooming service before I saw my dog. So that is why I am writing this review. I feel they have had plenty of time to respond to my email but they clearly don't care. Here is a quote off there web site. We put our customers first. I love Beastie Boutique. You've always upbeat and positive. You're always there to help me find just the right things. Your grooming staff is wonderful! They're gentle and loving to the dogs and do an excellent job with grooming. Winston loves you and doesn't mind coming in. more

I took my chihuahua there to be groomed for the first time a few days ago. Alison was the groomer and I was told she was one of the best. She ended up literally taking a chunk out of my dog's right ear. When I went to pick him up, I was told it was a ""knick"" so I brushed it off. When I got home and examined it, I was shocked to find a chunk missing out of his ear. I called and spoke with Diane, the manager, who was fast to offer my money back and also offered to pay for any vet bills incurred by the incident. At least she handled the situation well but I will never take my dog there to be groomed again. My poor dog was so scared to begin with and then he gets his ear cut off. Sorry Beastie Boutique and Alison, never again. more

Ok, I never write these things, but I had to create an account just write about this awesome place. I took my dog here this morning and was amazed by the service and the results. My dog and I were treated as if we were the only customers of the day. I was greeted on the sidewalk by the groomer and another gal who gave my dog a treat then gave us a tour of the shop, which is welcoming, clean, and cute. Then we went back to the grooming area which was also very clean. I sat at the groomer's personal desk and filled out a form while she played with my dog, and answered all of my questions. She then showed me a board with sample hair lengths so I could chose the best one! Maybe this is common in nice places, but I'd never seen it! I picked my dog up two hours later, and the fellow at the cashier raved all about him. Then the groomer came out, and my dog looked and smelled perfect! Not like that cheap shampoo that other groomers use. His nails were not sharp like I've experienced before, his breathe was great, and he was wearing a little red tie! Hahah!! They also informed me that the gland process is often unnecessary and can even be harmful to the dog. Check this out before you have it done. My dog has historically become VERY stressed before and after his grooming appointments, but he was happy as can be before and after this one. He did relieve himself in the store, but the groomer and the cashier were so kind about it, explaining that it happens all the time, and just cleaned it right up. I just loved this place, and can't say one negative thing about it. It's a bit of a drive for me as I live in NE Portland, but is WELL worth it. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

The staff is very helpful on recommending what kind of pet food is best for your animal. They really seem to care about your animals. Every time I go in I learn something new and beneficial for my animals. They also recommended an excellent Vet. Hawthorne Vet has been helping my cat with possible nerve damage.\r Can't thank everyone enough for all their help. more

Beastie Boutique, has an excellent selection of healthy pets foods for both dogs and cats. The shop owner is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I love the selection of cute pet supplies. I highly recommend this shop. Pros: Easy freeway access. more
