Outrageous fees! 8/15/2007

I have brought my cat here for the past nine years, but I have to say that I am fed up with their fees. I have never had a problem with the vets, who I have found for the most part to be adequate. However, I never leave their office with a vet bill that is less than $400 for a routine check up and shots. Recently, I brought my cat in after he had an upset stomach and loose stool. They gave him a shot of antibiotic, and took blood from him, but never actually gave me a diagnosis. When the results of his blood sample came back, I was simply told that he was dehydrated. Did I need to pay $400 to find out that my cat who had diarrhea for a week was dehydrated? Not worth it. I could do better by myself! more

Wierd atitude 6/11/2007

A few yeard ago we found two little white terriers in our front yard on a Sunday morning. The only i.d. tags were rabies tags from Bayside Animal clinic. Nothing came of a call to their office on Sunday, so I called at 9 on Monday. Whoever answered the phone said they couldn't help me! I told them the tags were current and they had to notify the owner! They hung up on me. I drove the dogs up there and marched in and handed them to the receptionist, explaining loudly to her and the 6 people in the waiting room what had happened. The dogs were whisked away, and I and my sarcasm were hustled to the door. Needless to say they did not ask for my contact information to let the owner know what a kind person I am. ;-D\r \r Too bad, I was looking for a new vet! more

HORRIBLE! PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE (better for your pets and wallet)! 6/5/2007

This clinic performs UNCESSESARY PROCEDURES and OVERCHARGES! \r Went to this clinic as an emergency (since my vet was closed) for a laceration on my dog and the vet recommended he be admitted into the clinic and needed to be put under general anesthesia for sutures. I refused his recommendation since I was going to go see my original vet the next morning, so the vet placed a bandage over his wound WITHOUT debriding it first! Then he gave him an antibiotic shot which left a huge bruise on my dog's back. This treatment cost me almost $200!!! \r The next morning, I went to MY vet who stated that it was uncessary to put the dog under general anesthesia. He placed a bandage over my dog's laceration and gave me a neck collar and medications all for less than $100. \r I am willing to pay for treatment, however, I do not think it is fair for the Bayside Animal Clinic to recommend uncessary treatments to make some extra money and to charge excessively for procedures. \r \r Bayside Animal Cl more

BUYER BEWARE 10/3/2006

My kitten was treated for an emergency and I was quoted $500-600 on top of the $300 I had already spent for treatment that had not worked. I was very upset and worried about how to pay for the treatment. They told me about a credit card I could open that as long as I paid it off within a year, would be no interest (sounded great because I was on a limited income, which they knew, and I wanted kitty to live). They preapproved me for $4000 (much higher than that $500 quote), which should have set off warning bells...\r \r It turns out the bill was 3x the original estimate (does a kitten really need THREE chest xrays in 6 days??? think of all the radiation he's getting!!! But hey, look at how much they can charge for it). And the credit card from GE only had a 6 month grace period, NOT the 12 I had been told. Not only that, but if you don't pay off the ENTIRE balance (i.e. if you have even $1 remaining) you are charged 24% interest on the ORIGINAL balance. NOT the remaining balance. Kind of more

They care 3/7/2006

I have brought my pets here for years now and have never experienced any problems. The staff is caring and knowledgeable. My Guinea Pig lived 6 years and I attribute most of that long life to the care she received at Bayside. We visited quite often because she was always eating something she shouldn?t have. When she did pass away the Doctor and staff were very caring. PROS: associated with Central Vet and their emergency services CONS: more

What can I say 7/30/2005

I think the animals are treated well, But I feel that most of the staff doesn't really care, and it's just a job to them. Plus when I confronted one Vet about a flea found on my dog, he yelled at me saying I wasn't supposed to pick him up that night, but the next day, after they had a flea bath. The dog just has surgery, you don't give a bath that soon, and he did tell me to pick the dog up that day. This was a $1400 bill and they had to put little things in like cutting the toe nails, $20 now why couldn't that be done without charging ? This wasn't the first time I have been there. I have 3 dogs and otheranimals. I felt they told me things about the dog to make more money. Do they really need to do extra stuff to gain more money? Its sad that they have to be this way. PROS: They have a 24 hour Emergency Center CONS: They charge for every little thing and then not tell all the truth more

Not a great clinic 7/19/2005

ALthough your pet will get the vet care he/she needs here I never felt that the staff was all that compassionate towards the animals. Also we felt that our cats were given unnecessary shots and services. This not only concerned us because of the cost but also because of our cats' health. We stopped coming here after two visits. more
