I wish I had read these reviews before I bought the whole Academy package. The facility is awful - a strip mall store. Not even a water fountain. Barry over sells all his classes....

Get the Body you Deserve 2/28/2011

Barry's Bootcamp is the real deal. You will get results if you commit to working out on a consistent basis. Barry's classes are very high intensity with a focus on cardio and strength training. You will be pushed to your edge . . .and then some. The music is pumping and your heart will be, too! But, you can achieve the body you have always wanted by putting in the work. Barry's morning classes are the best. But, the other trainers are highly qualified to help you get the body you deserve. If you're ready to ""suit up and show up"", Barry will support you in getting where you want to go. more

Barry's bootcamp 2/1/2011

Barry's bootcamp is an awesome workout and you see results right away. Every class is amazing and their instructors are top notch. Even though its a large grup you feel them personalized workout because they walk around. The music is up beat too so it keeps you motivate, 60 minutes flys by. \r \r I recommend it to all my friends. more

Efficient, Effective Workout 1/31/2011

I've been going to Barry's Bootcamp in West Hollywood for almost three years now. Each and every class is consistently a sweat-inducing, muscle-toning, endurance-challenging workout. After taking classes at Barry's, a solo trip to a regular gym leaves you feeling like you've accomplished nothing. The hour-long combination of cardio and lifting is the most efficient way to keep your body in check no matter what your level of experience. Because of Barry's, I've managed to tone my entire body and keep it toned for the better part of the last three years. more

BEST WORK OUT I EVER HAD! 1/11/2010

This is the best workout I ever had. Sure it is a bit tight and hot and extremely hard. I even threw up my first workout. Only after my second time I realized I had never felt better after a workout (even with all the sourness). Sure this program is not for everyone... but that does not mean it is in anyway bad. I'm sure most of the complaints come from people who just gave up and didn't push themselves. I am a complete fan and can't wait until 5:15 tomorrow morning. more

Berry's bootcamp kicked my booty! (and I liked it) 3/2/2009

Hi All! I recieved Barry's Bootcamp this Christmas from my fiance (I asked for it), so I have not experienced the customer service issues that others mentioned. Now on to what's important, these workouts are great! My idea of great is a workout that makes me sweat and makes me feel muscles I am not use to feeling on each subsequent day. This workout is not for those starting out! There is quite a bit of jumping and switching positions from up right to floor very quickly. This is not a quick fix that can be done once a week. To be successful you must follow a consistent plan, whether it be the calender provided or one that you make for yourself along with a healthy diet (i.e. say no to eating out or keep it to a bare maximum like bi-monthly). If you like an energetic workout this one may be great for you. Keep in mind there is a return period! So, if you hate it don't hesitate to sent it back this is a large company that in this economy can't stand to have a black mark on it's record for not holding up their end of the deal. If you love it, join the club! I think this is a great program, and I have tried ever so many! more

Unlike Other Workouts 10/9/2008

I heard of Barry's Bootcamp through an infomercial and originally purchased the dvd's and I really like those a lot. Then just recently visited the West Hollywood location and I had a blast. It was a drive for me and L.A. traffic I am not a fan of, but it was worth the experience to drive. I personally prefer the dvd's because I can use that at any time of day in my home. But both are a great workouts. :) more

Sweet Workout 9/29/2008

I read some reviews on this website before trying - since most were good I tried it. I loved it. Don't understand why some had a bad experience. The staff and trainers were very helpful. I left feeling like I accomplished much. I will go back soon. The most fun I've had at a gym in a long time. Pros: cool music - cool trainers Cons: its bootcamp - there is yelling - but you get used to it more

Lovin? this place! 9/5/2008

I've tried many different workouts and this one for me has given me great results. It?s a different kind of workout where you focus on interval training so it keeps it interesting. I don't get bored in these classes - in fact - I am more motivated now that ever to workout because I look forward so much to doing the workout - because I have seen how dramatically it has changed me! I recommend it to anyone - especially those who actually want to see results after committing to a workout. Pros: A workout worth committing to Cons: Its tough at first - but your body will adjust more

My favorite place to workout 9/4/2008

At Barry?s Bootcamp you get a fast paced in your face workout. There is no room for slacking off so this is for serious workout gurus. The classes fill up fast so make sure you sign up early. The atmosphere is really fun and is bootcamp style so you definitely get winded. Make sure you bring water because you?ll need it. And be prepared to see great results. My body has undergone some crazy changes since I started there and I don?t intend to go anyplace else since seeing how well it has worked. Pros: You'll see the results you want Cons: The classes are full - but still worth it more

Barry's Bootcamp is the workout to do!!! 8/22/2008

Barry's Bootcamp is a workout worth going to! You'll not only sweat but soon after you stick to the workout, you will see you body begin to change drastically! Barry and the other instructors will get you in the best shape of your life! Between the strength training and treadmill workout, you burn an immense amount of calories and have such a great feeling of accomplishment afterwards! Definitely satisfying and worth the time and money. The DVD""s are great as well - a great way to get this incredible workout right into your own home.\r Pros: A workout that you can count on to see results Cons: None in my book! more

Bad Experience 8/11/2008

I wish I had read these reviews before I bought the whole Academy package. The facility is awful - a strip mall store. Not even a water fountain. Barry over sells all his classes. I'm surprised Building and Safety has not shut him down. It's too stuffy and cramped. If you're a woman Barry will ignore you while he inappropriately fondles all the cute guys. It's disgusting. I understand the Drill Instructor angle, but it appears Barry's power trip motivation is not to help the client, but to fill his own voids. Pros: cheaper than one-on-one training Cons: tiny one-room facility, oversold classes, recycled air, no oxygen, no water fountain more

BEST WORKOUT IN THE WORLD!!! 2/26/2008

Barry's Bootcamp is really THE PLACE to workout. I've never gotten results so quickly in my life. It's even gotten to the point where I can eat whatever I want as long as I show up to class. Joey and Alycia ROCK in West Hollywood! The morning Academy is not the way to go for people who are germaphobes! Pros: The Crowd, The Workout, The Hot Instructors Cons: Parking can get crazy during busy classes! more

Best Workout Anywhere 10/6/2007

There is no other workout that can transform my body and spirit like Barrys Bootcamp. Thank you Martin and Matt. I'd love to take from Barry too,but I cant get there that early. Pros: It works Cons: Its a long drive from my house more

reckless training,loud,fire hazzard 4/4/2007

No one took any interest in\r my health. I left after 15 minutes. I was charged\r for a full class, which was absurd.\r I felt that this was all about the money and less\r about the person in class.\r I am a little disappointed at my experience with your\r 8am class.\r \r I\r \r I hope you are good with the Fire Marshall, becuse it\r looks a little ""iffy"" in that room....\r \r \r \r A little dismayed and disappointed....\r Booo Pros: thumbs down to people who want to smell each other's arm pits Cons: thumbs down all the way more

Overfills His Classes...Academy not worth it 7/14/2006

I hear that there used to be a cap on how many people he would try and squeeze into his studio, but no more. If you have the money, you can be crammed in. There aren't enough treadmills for everyone to get there turn for 30 mimutes on the treadmill...it wasn't even close on many recent mornings...not that it matters to those Barry junkies who've been coming to him for years. For others, you might want to look elsewhere. By the way, he says if you are ""Academy"" and get a card when you walk in you are guaranteed a treadmill, but that has NOT been the case. more
