Handled Issues in a Timely Manner 12/16/2010

There was a time when my life was in turmoil and I was unexpectedly in a need of a place to live. I was looking at different apartments and duplexes (for an amount I could afford) and I was left feeling hopeless. I wasn't in to the college life, I was looking for someplace nice and quiet (after working an eight hour day). Then I looked at the apartments Barr owned. I couldn't believe how nice and well kept the places were. Then I was shown my dream place, not only is it tucked away in an off-street location, but I feel like its my own little village. I even have my own private balcony. There have been only a few instances when I have had to call maintainence, but when I have, it was handled in a timely matter. more

Courteous and Helpful 12/6/2010

The Georgian is in the heart of campus near the corner of sixth and armory. The rent is cheap for anywhere on campus but especially for this location. The premises were kept nice and it is a fun old building to live in. Whenever there were maintanence issues they were fixed quickly and with no hassle. The office people were courteous and helpful. All around very positive experience with Barr Real Estate and with the apartment! more

Impressive 12/2/2010

I've lived with Barr in the same apartment at 105 E Green for 2 years now. They have been very quick to fix any problems that I call about. They have always been friendly any time that I've interacted with them. Their maintenance people are the greatest. All really nice guys willing to help all they can. One time I even called at midnight with a backed up shower, and they sent someone right over. Seriously awesome! I will miss Barr and hope that wherever I end up next, I will find an equally impressive landlord. more

I haven't had a bad experience with Barr. I've lived at 2 of their locations - 807 W. Illinois & 205 E. Healey. They've always responded to my maintence requests within 48-72 hours. Their handyman Rick has been particularly helpful. Additionally, their Barr-to-Barr move policy is really helpful. If you are moving from a Barr apartment to a different Barr apartment they allow you to stay in your old apartment until your new one is ready, rather than making you homeless for a week or two like the other landlords down here. Their office staff isn't the most friendly, but they have always done whatever I needed them to do. Overall, I think renting an apartment in a college town can and will result in less than ideal situations sometimes, but I've been pleased with Barr real estate. more

I have lived here for a while now and I have no complaints. The management is always nice when ever I have seen them around and they are also very quick to fix anything that has needed fixing. I would recommend this place to anyone. more

I have rented a townhome from Barr Real Estate for 3 years now. Their maintenance staff is quick to get to any problem that you have with your property. Most of the time, their response occurs within 1-2 business days! They will actually leave you a note, telling you that they've been there and what they have done to fix your problem. In addition, the office staff has always been helpful and friendly when I've had to deal with them. Overall, I would highly recommend renting from Barr REal Estate! more

Good place to go 11/4/2010

I rented off campus and I really enjoyed my apartment actually. The windows and doors needed to be replaced but other than that I didn't have too many issues. I do have to say though, I never met my landlord, I never bothered calling them, I just went to the office and talked to the maintenance people directly and politely and they were usually out there the next day and did whatever I asked. But like I said, I wasn't on campus, I was on the outer edge of Champaign and never talked to my landlord, so maybe that's why I had a better experience. more

I recommend them 10/5/2010

So this morning two maintenance guys from Barr came to my apartment, and they put a new fridge and a set of new blinds to our apartment. The maintenance guys are very experienced, and they are very hard workers. I am also very pleased with the fact that they took off their shoes as they entered the apartment, I just want to say thank you to Barr Real Estate Inc. again. Barr Real Estate Inc. is a very good company. I would recommend you to rent apartment from Barr Real Estate Inc. more

Bad service 12/24/2005

Maybe because it is a large real estate company, the service is not carried out sufficiently. Once a friend of mine was locked inside the apartment because the lock was failing. Then the promised to go help him but they never show up that time. Maybe the person who received the phone call wasn't responsible for the lock fixing? more

Racist Rental Company 9/29/2005

It was my landlord 4 years ago so hopefully it has certain change during these years. It is a big landlord so the price is good. Yet my experiences to interact with the people there were very unpleasant. You could definitely see the different attitudes the agents had toward Americans and foreigners. They would smile to the American who lined up before you and then when it was your turn, the face suddently changed. more
