I have used several doggie daycares for my two rescue pups and the thing I like the most about the barkmore is the dog to staff ratio. They are 1 staff to 10 dogs and most other places are much higher. The last local place we used had a ratio of 1 staff member to 26 dogs!! There is no way they can safely monitor that many dogs! I had heard of many other dogs (at this ""resort/daycare"") being bit and taken to vets because of poor monitoring of the daycare dogs. This is why I will only use the barkmore from now on. I know my babies are safe there. more

I have used the BarkMore for a long time and my dog has very special needs. He is blind in one eye and can have seizures. The staff watch him constantly when he is there and even let him sit on their laps so he feels safe. Where else can you get this kind of loving care. Thank you Barkmore staff. more

I just started bringing my shepherd mix to daycare. She loves it! And I love the home-like feel when you walk in. She hates to leave at the end of the day. more

I have used a lot of boarding facilities in the past. My German Shepherd had been through a traumatic experience with another facility and was very shy and scared when we first started going to the Barkmore. The staff was so gentle and patient with Henry and after a lot of TLC, Henry started to trust again. He looks forward to staying at the Barkmore and I cannot thank the staff enough for all the love and attention they give him with every visit he makes. more

I couldn't make it without the Barkmore's daycare. My dog looks forward to seeing his friends and all the staff are great! I have shopped around and have found the Barkmore to be the best in town. more

We have boarded our dogs at The BarkMore for several years. We have never had a negative experience with this facility. The friends we have who also board at The BarkMore say their dogs also LOVE to go. The people who work there are so kind and truly care about our pets. We would highly recommend The BarkMore. more

DO NOT BOARD YOUR ANIMALS HERE - FOR THEIR SAFETY. 1/14/2012

We use the barkmore for our two dogs (at the time they were puppies - one was 10mos, the other 4mos). We started them out with doggie daycare to aviod any possible anxiousness for when we planned to go on a two week trip. I said my dogs were puppies - one is a pure breed lab and the other is a lab mix. The pure breed is a large boy (at the time his was about 40lbs and now his 90lbs) and if anyone has ever been around a lab before they know that especially when they are puppies, they are very hyper! My pup was no different. He was always very excited to go anywhere, the barkmore included. One girl that worked there would always make comments about how wild he was and how her dog was so well trained... I would ignore her for the most part because my dog was a PUPPY and we were putting him through training which he was doing very well in... Well, the day that I dropped them off, before we were going on our big trip, I got a call about 20mins after leaving, from that same girl saying that I needed to come pick my puppies up because they felt that my 4mo old lab puppy was ""showing aggressive behavior"" and didn't feel that it would be safe for their staff or the other dogs if they stayed. I was in SHOCK and complete disbelief!! I asked what he did - she then told me that he was barking at other dogs through the fence.... I asked if that was it and she said yes. I explained to her that was NOT aggressive behavior. Dogs bark at one another. That does not mean they are aggressive. Aggressive behavior would be biting someone or another dog, getting into a fight with other dogs, growling, showing teeth... SOMETHING!! Not merely barking at another dog through a fence... She insisted that I need to come pick them up anyway and at that point I was so frustrated that she would suggest that 4MO OLD LAB PUPPY was aggressive. I told her I would come but that I wanted to talk with the owner. I felt and still do feel that she just thought my pup was too wild to handle and if that as the case, she should of just said that instead of suggesting that there was something dangerous about my dog. When I got there, they had my sweet boy ""quarantined"" in a small separate room that looked like a closet. When I looked into the small window, he was sitting in the corner, whimpering, shaking, head down obviously terrified! I was furious! When I opened the door to scooped him up, the room reeked of bleach as well, doing a number on his senses i'm sure... at that point I just wanted to get them out of there. I asked for my other dog and to speak to the owner. She said the owner wasn't there but that she would call me when she got in. After gathering up my two puppies and all their stuff, I left and a year later, I still havent recieve that phone call. Not only were they unprofessional, obviously completely ignorant of dog behavior, almost ruined our trip (we were able to get friend to watch them last minute) but we found out after we got back from the trip that our lab had to be taken to the vet because the pads of feet were literally flacking off and he had these wierd snotty nose bleeds. Our vet said that he suspected (after hearing our puppies horror story) that the room was recently coated in bleach or some other strong cleaning solution and that it was still wet when my puppy was thrown in there. He said that standing in it for any length of time could cause such a reaction. Also, he attributed the bloody congestion to being locking in the small unventolated room... my dog still has a problem with congession to this day. more

DEVASTATED 4/12/2011

We left our perfectly healthy Papillon in the care of the Barkmore Pet Hotel while we went on our European dream vacation. We trusted the Barkmore Pet Hotel with our most prized possession, our dog, Cha-Cha. We had left her there before and had no reason for concern. However, in less than 24 hours we received a call from the Barkmore Hotel's owner that our dog was dead. The owner stated that she had received a call from one of her employees that they had found our Papillon lying on her side with blood coming from her mouth when they arrived early that morning. The owner took our dog to the veterinarian, however, our dog was already dead. The owner stated that she did not know how our dog died. Later, the veterinarian said that our dog died of ""physical trauma"" and ""that she had a bruise above her eye."" more

Disappointing 11/7/2010

We had a terrible experience, all around the way around. I wish we knew then what we know now, because we would never have boarded our dogs there. My husband and I continue to hear horror stories about the dirty environment (behind the scenes) and unprofessional owner. Several dog/cat owners we recently spoke with said their pets became ill shortly after being boarded at this facility. When we picked up our 2 dogs, we realized that there was still quite a bit of food left in their bag, which meant they missed meals and were not even fed according to our instructions. One gentleman who boarded his dog there even told us that medication that was to be given to his dog was still in his bag when he picked him up and never administered! The most alarming common thread in these stories is the owner's cavalier attitude when these concerns were calmly voiced to her. Apparently, she becomes very rude and defensive, instead of offering an explanation or an apology. I wonder.....if the owners are being treated so badly, how are the animals being treated when we're not there? I'm sorry, we board our babies quite frequently and will never go back. more

Cat Boarding Is Great! 5/28/2010

I have boarded my cats here 3 different times. I was very impressed with the service I received. My cats looked great when I picked them up, their belongings were clean and they did not seem to be stressed like they have been when boarded at other facilities. This was a great experience for me and for my cats.? Pros: Lots of one on one attention more

Excellent 5/27/2010

I have 3 dogs who are like my children. The staff at the Barkmore took excellent care of them. They were given so much attention and were treated with lots of love. I know this because my pups get so excited every time we drive into the parking lot of the Barkmore, they cant wait to get inside and play! I highly recommend this facility for boarding. My experience with the Barkmore exceeded my expectations. more

Terrible! 11/30/2009

Last night I picked up my two cats, Buttons and Gisele. When I picked them up all of their belongings were already packed at the front door. I thought it was nice, until I realized that their blankets smelled strongly of urine. I asked the associate if she smelled the odor when she was packing, and she said no. It took me seconds to smell it, so I have a hard time believing she didn't. Then when I physically picked up my cats, they too, smelled of urine, and I noticed dried urine stains in the cage. I commented on the stains and the associate was silent. Furthermore, on occasion, my male cat has balance problems. He was completely off balance when we got home (tried to jump on our bed and fell off it was so severe). I have ear drops I could easily, and would gladly, have provided had someone contacted me. Part of the reason I selected the Barkmore was because when I called and spoke with the associate on duty, she told me that the cats would be out to play. She said that they would close the kitchen off to the dogs, and the cats could come out. I even packed their favorites toys. When I picked up the cats she told me that they had been out all week playing. I can think of only two options: either the cats were not out of their cages at all and the balance issues were ignored, or the Barkmore's associates had complete disregard for Buttons' balance issues and were not concerned with contacting me. I cannot believe that I paid $135 for my cats to sleep in their own urine for a week. Cons: Terrible care for my cats! more
