Baristas

The owner clearly preys on tourists. He was fidgety just like someone on something and just didn't seem right to us. The menu items are excessive and not accurate at all. He sat there and proclaimed how great and fresh everything was but when our food came out it looked like it had been a display item for the last several years... it tasted that way too. The portions were extremely small and so overly priced that I feel ashamed of myself for even spending that amount of money on something I would compare to larva laced fecal matter... My children probably won't be able to go to college now because of how much our bill was. Anytime we mentioned anything he did not want to hear he became very combative and disrespectful. I kept thinking I was going to wake up from this nightmare but unfortunately never did... My life will probably never be the same :(\r \r I really don't know how this guy has stayed in business at all because I don't see how there is any way he has repeat customers... he's clearly a vulture who preys on tourists that come through Hurricane looking for something to eat. My recommendation is that everyone who has had a bad experience with this restaurant needs to contact the City of Hurricane to make a formal complaint against this guy to get him and his business removed so it doesn't continue to do damage to the city. I wouldn't even say this but I have read negative review after negative review and see this is clearly a problem.\r \r Just to set some context to this review, I have never posted an online review on any company before. This experience was so disturbing that I really feel a civil duty to make sure anyone who is looking into finding a place to eat while visiting Hurricane does not go here. Don't put you or your family through what we went through... I really feel like I wasted a part of my life away as well as my life savings.\r \r Gotta run... I feel the horrible aftertaste coming back up. more

I'm not sure how the owner has created so many false citysearch accounts to write deceitful positive reviews about his terrible restaurant, but it should give you a sense of how much overcompensation he feels a need to provide. If you have any doubt, look at reviews at tripadvisor, urbanspoon, yelp, or google-- all paint a grimmer, more accurate picture (though each of these is also plagued with false positive reviews). Other reviews have said it all, but the bottom line is that the prices are astronomical, and the food is hardly above average. If you were to, say, order nothing but a cheeseburger (no fries, which are $6+, and no water, for which you will be charged by the glass), you might get away for $10. If you were to pick a random item from the menu, you would more likely pay a premium similar to what you might find in, say, Le Cirque, or another of New York's finest restaurants. What a disgusting way to make a living-- the owner clearly has no shame whatsoever, and no marketable skills beyond false advertising. Addendum: I actually do know how he does it! Check out the other people who have reviewed the place-- all have either basically no reviews or all positive reviews of an absurd variety of places (Nissan, Honda, Ford, Chevy, and Dodge dealers, for example). Clearly these are solicited for payment on craigslist or another similar site. more

This self admitted local hatter says Baristas is a stain on the community that is ridiculous Baristas is the first restaurant to bring high quality food to southern Utah. and the restaurants in spring dale including the one she works at are so afraid of there high quality, so all they can do is right fake reviews to try and hurt there business. why would anyone complain about the owner showing off his prime steak. i guess Le Cordon Bleu better up there classes on quality cause this self proclaimed chef doesn't know sushi grade ahi tuna cause that's all they sell. The true stain on the community would have to be all these local hatters that are so jealous they right these fake reviews to hurt the most beautiful thing to ever land in this town. I have eaten here a dozen times from certified prime steak to hand made pizzas, gourmet burgers, etc. every time its a home run and its packed every night so disregard this persons phony review cause that's all it appears to be. more

This place is a stain on the community of Hurricane, I work in Springdale (about thrity minutes up the road) and we hear horror stories from tourists all the time. more

Great tasting food. I live here locally and go in all the time. It is pricey thats a definite downfall. But i realize that before i go in. But by far has the best food around. The only thing i would say is lower your prices so the locals have a place to hang out and enjoy. Cause it adds up to spend $75 for lunch 2-3 times a week. I highly recommend you check it out though... more

I'm very surprised of the bad reviews, all the workers were extremely nice! The food is well worth the price, every time I'm hungry I dream about the prime rib it was amazing the best I have ever tried. The burgers were amazing! I absolutely love this place and can not wait till my next visit to hurricane. more

Oh yeah, and the absolutely wonderful beautiful delicious food. Barista's had taken food to a new level and is worth every penny. But you guys take the PRIZE! I went to high school in Hurricane and was back in town for a family reunion. The sign and setting for Barista?s caught my attention and I pulled over immediately and went inside. The owner personally brought me to a great table and discussed menu options with me (after we spoke for a bit). He warned me that the prices were high, but he assured me the food was the best. I ordered the Ahi Tuna platter which came with a mango-papaya salad that was out of this world. I finished it off with one of the best espressos I have every had the pleasure of drinking. This place was awesome?the best food I have had in the area, and possibly the state. It was expensive, but the personal service, atmosphere and absolutely top-quality food was well worth it. Wish this place had been around when I lived here! more

wow this is the best food and service the bread is made from scratch the steaks are usda prime, fresh halibut ,swordfish ,sushi grade salmon,yellowfin suswhi grade ahituna handmade newyork style thincrust pizza, also handpressed gourmet burgers,real salads,handmade chili and handmade 14% icecream made on location,and they take all credit cards,its clear that all of the local haters have spent a lot of time begging people not to go in and find out the truth at baristas. they allways complain about the price price price price price price i mean one lady says she never even went past the door but goes on and on on on on on on about nothing,now why would she spend her time,i recomend she reads up on her bible.then you have little kids etc comparing fine food to fast food, i mean what a joke, they must think everybody only cares about how much cheap food and free drinks and service they can steal, they must not even realize that there are millions of people like me that want high quality and service and know that you only get what you pay for, i hope some day they have that in there lives. keep teaching and changing the world baristas more
