Save Time and Go Elsewhere 7/22/2012

I've had nothing but really terrible experiences here and I'm cancelling my wellness plan asap. Whenever I take my dog for a scheduled exam, they make me wait an hour or more to see a vet and today they took two walk ins before me (even though I had a scheduled appointment) . I'm extremely fed up with the lack of proper scheduling. My dog gets extreme anxiety whenever we go and the ridiculous wait time doesn't help. more

This place runs a scam. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE WELLNESS PLAN. They don't tell you that the plan renews itself after a year for another year, and there is no way to get out of the plan. Long waiting lines, even if you have an appointment. They order unnecessary tests (if you don't have their wellness plan) and their prices are overinflated. more

wrong diagnose 4/16/2010

I took my pug, Cleo there twice and I am not going back here ever again. She looked like she has eye infection so I took her here. The vet gave me medicine to put on here and it's so expensive. $300 including the visit. Today I took her to Girard Veterinary Clinic. The vet was very surprised about the way Banfield diagnose her. They told me that there is nothing wrong with her eye. She is an old pug so her eye just starting to turn blind. They check everything to make sure she is ok. Xray, urinary test, and medicine. the total was $160. They are very nice and friendly. They are not trying to sale stuff to me or add more unnecessary medicine. DONT GO HERE. go to Girard Veterinary Clinic 2806 West Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19130-1215 (215) 232-0831? more

Meh 12/18/2009

I've had nearly the exact same experiences as the "Not Up To Par" post. The last two times I took my cat, the doctors were unfriendly and did not address all of my concerns. The thing that really got me was the last time I took my cat (he was unwell), he was taken into the back and given shots - without my knowledge or consent. I had to ask "what took so long?" before the doctor explained that he had given my cat all of his routine shots. Being poked with needles is probably not the best thing for a stressed, sick cat. The last think that really upset me was the special diet food my cat was prescribed for his sickness. I told another vet (where my other cats go, and where this cat is going to start going) about the mixture of foods the cat was perscribed, and she informed me that they are NEVER supposed to be taken together. Let's pair this with the dogs welping and barking at the stupid "grooming salon" that's attached, as well as customers with kids walking around trying to poke at m more

Banfield The Pet Hospital Scam 9/6/2009

I have ranever met a crasser, more incompetent, or indifferent staff. This "hospitall" is sited inside PetSmart where their customers come from. My dog is a purebred Rhodesian show dog. He was being schooled once-twice week by their pet trainer. He is great. When my dog got stung by a bee and his face swelled to twice its size in 1/2 hour, the Banfield receptionist told me that it was not an emergency and I could wait because "he is still breathing." I did and the vet told me that I needed to carry an EPI gun as this was a life and death situation. Two days later, my dog was hit by a car - no serious injuries but he needed at least a cortisone shot. Reluctantly, I returned to Banfield as it is 2 blks away. I was told I would be seen in two hours, so I waited. When the time came, I was told to wait as I was a "walk-in" without an appointment. I have spent a huger of amount of money in this store - which B knows. My poor dog's imjuries were serious and I could not have been more

Not up to par 4/28/2009

I recently moved and the Banfield on Oregon Ave turned out to be the closest vet to me, plus they had free exam fees on Tues and Thurs, so I figured I would try them out. The first 2 times I brought my dog and cat there I had a female vet who was very friendly, and interacted with me and my pets very well. The prices were a little high (almost $40 to express anal glands?) but I was happy that I found a vet that had a good connection with my pets and explained things well to me (4 star rating for you!).I've been back several times after my initial visits and haven't had the female vet again. Instead, I was stuck with 2 male Indian doctors, who barely even looked at my pets, let alone acted friendly with them. They spent most of there time staring at their computer screen, and were not in the LEAST bit friendly with me.They didn't ask me what I wanted to do, or explain options to me. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. Its one thing to not have a good bed-side manner with people. more

OK 9/30/2008

Banfield is a decent vet. Dr. Gay and Dr. Quan are caring and helpful. Their wellness plan is very cost efficient, and the rest of the staff is friendly. It is a good place for basic stuff, like spay and neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and check ups, but for anything Major go to Penn. more
