Catering with a SMILE 9/2/2008

It is a great pleasure to see that a company still cares about customer service. From the catering manager who helped me place my order to the driver who dropped my food off, everything was about what I needed. With that being said, the food was outstanding and only topped by the design of their tray layouts. They made my training meeting a great success and I will be using them again. Thanks Chris.. Pros: Great Service, Great food, Outstanding Tray Design more

Outstanding Catering and Delivery 8/25/2008

The catering at this location was outstanding. The delivery driver was ten minutes early and the presentation of the trays were second to none. After looking at the wonderful layout of the trays, we dug in and the food was top notch. I highly encourage trying the Tarragon Chicken Salad or the Italian Provision Panini. Pros: Great Customer Service, Great Design, Great Food Cons: Needs More Items for Catering Menu more

NO service!!!! 2/9/2008

We went to Bakehouse Bistro on a Thursday night at 7:30PM. We waited 15 minutes and no one even acknowledged us. There didn't seem to be a hostess so we finally went ahead and sat down. The waitress very intentionally ignored us -- looking in the other direction whenever she passed our table. Finally, we left, having been acknowledged by no one the entire time. Two other parties of 2 left along with us, having waited to be seated for too long. I know that the challenges of starting up a restaurant are tremendous and I hope they figure it out and become successful but we won't be going back until it's clear that they have turned the corner. Pros: didn't have a chance to find out Cons: horrible service more

They Blew us away...the second time! 9/19/2007

This restaurant has come a long way in the short time they have been open. My fiance and I dined when they opened and we experienced a slow, new restaurant fighting it out. They were very pleasant, the food was good but our food seemed to take a long time.\r WOW, the second time in they blew us away! We gave them a second shot and they nailed it. Service was excellent, the food was great, we even got to sample several wines before we made our selection. We spoke to a really nice Manager, Madeline, and she helped us understand some of the little things they had changed which made a big difference for us. We look forward to our next trip to Bakehouse! Pros: The Staff, Wines by the glass list Cons: They are busier now than before and we had a brief wait (5 minutes) more

Don't Let The Signs Lure You In 8/19/2007

Unfortunately, we got trapped by the many signs outside touting that this place was open and served breakfast. Although the help behind the cash registers were all nice and pleasant, they were new and did not appear to have a good understanding of the food served on the menu. My friend actually had to physically hand the menu to the cashier and point out what she wanted. After a moderate wait, the food we received was unbelievably poor. My friend ordered the Sausage Egg Bake Quiche Cup Cake. This item had an institutional look and it tasted bland with the unmistakable texture of something that had been microwaved. I myself ordered the Croque and Dagger. Oh My God. Whoever prepared this thing was obviously undertrained as there must have been over a quart of Hollandaise sauce poured over my food. Furthermore, in this Hollandaise soup were ""Baguettes"" which closely resembled hot dog rolls and roasted potatoes which also suffered from that ""nuked"" consistency. The bacon that was also swimming in my breakfast was a tad soggy and underdone. The coffee tasted all well and good. However, they ran out of coffee twice while we were there. Although we could have really used a refill, we got tired of waiting and had to leave... to go eat breakfast. Pros: The coffee tasted good, when it was available; The undertrained cashiers were friendly Cons: oh so numerous more

SLOW AND INEPT 8/18/2007

Don't waste your money - or time - going to the BakeHouse Bistro at Southpoint. You have to wait in line to place your order - 3 people in front of me and I waited 15 mins. to order just a smoothie because the 2 people behind the counter are SLOW , SLOW, SLOW. One of them kept apologizing because he couldn't figure out how to run the register....they received no training? This is a sandwich shop, not a 4-star restaurant , so we expected time frames like our local deli . BIG mistake. Our party of 3 ordered independently of each other - 2 orders of sandwiches took 20 mins. to come out of the kitchen and my smoothie took 13 mins(yes, we were getting frustrated and timed it) - and there were not many people in the place. I don't think they have enough kitchen help(or maybe they're as slow as the counter help) and they only had 1 waitperson delivering meals. The food delivered wasn't what was ordered - omitted some from one dish, added others to second.. The line thinned, got brave, ordered dessert,(ice cream on a brownie) waited another 15 mins. then had to find the manager to get it out of the kitchen(counter people said couldn't help with that). The food is ordinary (luncheon meat on white bread with chips and a pickle) and is not worth what you have to go through to get it. Eat somehwere else and save yourself the frustration. Cons: Ordinary food, very, very, very slow service more

Most disappointing food I've eaten in a long time 8/4/2007

We visited the Southpoint location in Durham. Several entrees on the menu looked appealing, a nice mix of salads, seafood and meat/chicken. We ordered, and soon a plate of round flat bread arrived with an olive oil/pesto mixture. I tasted a hint of rosemary, otherwise, it was simple white bland bread. \r \r The drunken mushroom appetizer tasted like cheap sherry. There was no sauce, just mushrooms thrown in a dish circled with slices of more tasteless white bread. The dish certainly wasn't worth $6. At that point, we should have walked out, but we were hungry and wanted to give the place a chance. \r \r The waitress served our entrees fairly quickly, explaining that there was a delay with our side Caesar salads. My partner had pork chops (which were average) and dry unseasoned garlic mashed potatoes. He was not given a knife sharp enough to cut through the chops. \r \r My crab cakes contained very little crab and reminded me of cheap hotel food. I really don't know how they could qualify as crab cakes. The sauteed green beans and carrots were greasy -- the only taste I detected -- and far from fresh. I really expected more from a $16 entree. By the time we finished what we could eat, the Caesar salads arrived. I can't imagine what held up these salads. They consisted of romaine lettuce and Parmesan cheese -- not the good shaved or shredded Parmesan cheese -- but cheese that looked straight out of a Kraft Parmesan Cheese shaker. Not a speck of black pepper, no croutons as the menu described. That was the sixth nail in already sealed coffin. \r \r The Bakehouse Bistro website boasts of ""gourmet dinner entrees"" and ""all-natural artisan breads."" I call that false advertising. Pros: not busy restaurant, menu items look appealing Cons: tasteless, overpriced, low quality food more

poor quality 6/22/2007

The bread they serve is very blah - no flavor whatsoever. The panini I ordered had 2 slices of meat on it. The cheese wasn't even melted and paninis are supposed to be toasted! We were one of 3 tables in the restaurant so there was no excuse for the poor quality. I felt jipped. Don't waste your money. more
