Most disappointing food I've eaten in a long time 8/4/2007

We visited the Southpoint location in Durham. Several entrees on the menu looked appealing, a nice mix of salads, seafood and meat/chicken. We ordered, and soon a plate of round flat bread arrived with an olive oil/pesto mixture. I tasted a hint of rosemary, otherwise, it was simple white bland bread. \r \r The drunken mushroom appetizer tasted like cheap sherry. There was no sauce, just mushrooms thrown in a dish circled with slices of more tasteless white bread. The dish certainly wasn't worth $6. At that point, we should have walked out, but we were hungry and wanted to give the place a chance. \r \r The waitress served our entrees fairly quickly, explaining that there was a delay with our side Caesar salads. My partner had pork chops (which were average) and dry unseasoned garlic mashed potatoes. He was not given a knife sharp enough to cut through the chops. \r \r My crab cakes contained very little crab and reminded me of cheap hotel food. I really don't know how they could qualify as crab cakes. The sauteed green beans and carrots were greasy -- the only taste I detected -- and far from fresh. I really expected more from a $16 entree. By the time we finished what we could eat, the Caesar salads arrived. I can't imagine what held up these salads. They consisted of romaine lettuce and Parmesan cheese -- not the good shaved or shredded Parmesan cheese -- but cheese that looked straight out of a Kraft Parmesan Cheese shaker. Not a speck of black pepper, no croutons as the menu described. That was the sixth nail in already sealed coffin. \r \r The Bakehouse Bistro website boasts of ""gourmet dinner entrees"" and ""all-natural artisan breads."" I call that false advertising. Pros: not busy restaurant, menu items look appealing Cons: tasteless, overpriced, low quality food more
