We have been coming here over 25 years and no complaints but today we ordered 3 prime rib plates two of them medium rare which were really rare so you could really smell and taste...

June 20, 2015 Father's Day dinner was awful... Food served undercooked and cold.... Service just as cold with no attention or empathy demonstrated when a cry for help was called. The GM ignored our comments at the table and tried to bill for a botched dinner that arrived after the entire family was finished eating. Tracking down the GM required patience and persistence that took another 25 minutes. With the demeanor of ""Dr. Spock"" it is no wonder the staff has the same ""Idgaf"" attitude! Cooks slapping prime rib on customers plates in plain view of the front reception area made my digestion rumble... Yuk... A Canyon Country icon sinking fast... more

Rancid meat/ Bad Lady Owner 5/31/2012

We have been coming here over 25 years and no complaints but today we ordered 3 prime rib plates two of them medium rare which were really rare so you could really smell and taste the rancid meat. My wife had a end cut so she couldnt smell it. But after four bites she smelled my daughters piece and stopped eating hers also since it was from the same rack. The waitresses were great as always but the Lady Owner treated us very rudely making us feel like scammers. I would never try to scam and had no problem to pay the bill & tip for the service was good. Its just the owner denied the bad meat but if she would have smelled our pieces it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out its bad and should be thrown away so as not to get anybody sick. So if in the future you get your piece well done it might be to cover up the smell and taste of bad meat. more

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND! 5/7/2010

I went to this place on the recommendation of a friend who said the food was great. Maybe there was a change in management or something because a chaulk this up as being the second worst meal I have ever had in my life! I had the fish, my husband the prime rib, and my daughter had a $25 steak. All three meals were just terrible. I don't understand how anybody can like the tasteless food here. The service was not bad, but the food was just terrible. Even the baked potato was tasteless, and my daughter said the steak tasted like "water", in other words, like nothing. I would not recommend this place at all! The only good thing in the meal was the garlic bread. I give this place a big ZERO. more

I"ve only been once with my husband on our date night. Great strong drinks. Really appreciated that! I had dirty martini's and my husband Southern comfort and coke. Service wasn't the best and this was during the week when it wasn't that crowded. I went there on recommendation from another couple for their steaks. I wasnt that impressed. I ordered a prime rib and my husband a rib eye. I just wasnt that impressed. To be honest...I went to Outback Steakhouse around Valentines day and had an amazing ribeye blackened. I know that sounds tacky but in all honesty when i think of a great steak The Backwoods In..is not the place i think of. I did like the comfortable environment. No dressing up necessary! I also loved their salad and blue cheese dressing. We also ordered the sauteed mushrooms which came in some weird coffee cup kind of thing. it was weird. more

Great Food 7/28/2008

I just drove by here on Sunday and said to myself we have not been there for a long time. It has great food and great service. The only problem is the location it is a little of the beaten track, but I think we wil venture on over there it is worth it. more

Great food, fun atmosphere, the Backwoods Inn reminds us of our roots here in Santa Clarita.. a wagon wheel stop where someone could get a BBQ meal on his way through town. more

A taste of the west as it was meant to be. 10/13/2005

There are many steakhouses out there, but there aren't very many that stick to their theme from the time you walk in the door, to the time you leave. I took my mothere there for lunch (which is a review all in itself) and from the moment we walked in, we felt like we had stepped into a wild west saloon out of the late 1800's. The staff there is just as friendly as those pioneers from the period, and the food is right out of the period as well. Made to order with care and love and served with a smile. Prices are moderate and definitely won't break the bank. All in all, a wonderful experience for those meat lovers out there! PROS: good food, good prices, wonderful atmosphere CONS: It's off the beaten track just a little bit. more

Backwoods Inn has been a family favorite for over 20+ years. One's visit is always pleasant. The aroma as you enter immediately gets your tastebuds all primed for a wonderful dining experience. The menu offers enough of a variety that everyone finds something to their liking. The BBQ ribs and chicken is great also. The well stocked bar has a capable and friendly mixologist. My personal recommendation to you would be the bacon-wrapped filet mignon or the mouthwatering prime rib. The salads are fresh,the soups are good. Their Garlic bread is a must. My Favorite Steakhouse EVER 10/6/2003

The true test of any restaurant is its ability to withstand the test of time. Backwoods Inn continues to draw a consistent crowd despite the slew of new restaurants in the SCV. The atmosphere is cozy and fun. Drinks are great. But the best thing about the place is the food. I go back and forth between the Petite Filet Mignon and the Teriyaki Top Sirloin. Both are fabulous. The stuffed potato is a treat and salad is consistently good. The dessert tray offers 6 or more choices and I'm almost always happy with what I choose. I will be enjoying Backwoods Inn for years to come and introducing it to as many people as I can. It's nice to see an independent restaurant thrive. Great Steak House 6/28/2002

Love this place. The sawdust on the floor and antiques really set the mood. The food is great and inexpensive. The seafood platter is overwhelming. I go at least once a week. more
