Worst

Went for our 1 year anniversary dinner on a non busy Sunday evening and... Pros: Ambience is nice Cons: Service is questionable for the prices they're charging on food.

Boooooring food and unimpressive service. 5/30/2008

There were four of us out to celebrate two birthdays. It was our first time visiting Azucar and we'll never return. We all really enjoyed our mojitos but the food was just boring. I eat way better at home. The ahi tuna was supposed to come with some kind of mango salsa and we never saw it. Another one of the dinners was supposed to have plantains and they were missing. The plantains in the other plates and the 'tostones' that we ordered as an appetizer tasted like they were made at least one day before. They were very dry and tasteless. The service was totally unimpressive. I'm writing this review the same night I was there because I probably won't remember this restaurant tomorrow. Save your hard-earned money and go somewhere else. Pros: Good mojitos and that's it. Cons: Boring, cold, tasteless food and cold, uncaring service more

WORST SERVICE, WORST FOOD AND DRINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5/27/2008

I would like to say that I was taken to Azucar for my birthday and it was the worst experience that I had. The waitress Veronica and the manager Hugo Zuniga made the experience at the restaurant. The waitress never came by to ask how we were doing or to refill our drinks. The menu was very limited they seem to have been out of everything and when we did order the food was cold and just terrible. And as for the mojito that i ordered it was just not at all a mojito it was just a bunch of mint leaves and alcohol it was the worst. As for the manager Hugo Zuniga he was rude and was agrumenitve and would not let us explain what the problem was I was just amazed that he was even a manager because he did not act like one. I read the other reviews about this place I guess it just depends on how the staff feels like that day. Pros: NOTHING TO OFFER Cons: WORST SERVICE more

Worst Customer Service Ever! 4/17/2008

I have been in Azucar a few times but this was my last. The manager is very rude and insulting. I told him that it seemed like the establishment does not want caucasian people in the restaurant because they are usually served last, ignored, or spoken to rudely. My other Caucasian friends who have come in at different times won't even come into the restaurant anymore because they were treated so badly. more

Food Marginal, Music Great 12/31/2007

wouldn't go back for the food but would go for the music. live band played excellent Latino music, but so loud my friends and I literally shouted to hear each other throughout the entire meal. Dance floor practically non existent, but dancing is encouraged??? more

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5/4/2007

It is the best place for a first date! Service was exceptional! I had the Tamarindo Mojitos and I loved it! Great drinks, great food but not such a great date! I will definitely go again but either with the girls or another date! Pros: Drinks and Food Cons: Nothing more

Definitely a do-over! 2/24/2007

Worth the wait! Stopped by one night and kitchen was down for some reason - months later, success! Carnivale mojitos were lethally YUMMY! Service was excellent - and unlike other reviews, received our food timely. The staff were all friendly and not one single thing - including the delicious food - could be improved upon. Definitely a do-over! I would recommend this place to everyone. Pros: top-notch food; friendly staff; drinks to die for more

Mojito Paradise! 2/16/2007

Started our Valentine's dinner with their pineapple mojito, which were absolutely killer! Then went straight to the entrees. Ordered the prawn dish drenched in onion-jalapeno sauce and my partner got the baked salmon. Both the dishes were very well prepared and I was almost licking my plate. Overall, the food and drinks were done very well. However, the service was slow and there was a wait. Of course, they made our day by giving us a rose and a strawberry dipped chocolate for dessert, which was a sweet gesture. Pros: Mojitos, the entrees!!! Cons: Slow service more

awesome food and rum selection 1/31/2007

I keep going back to this place because I keep having dreams of the jalapeno shrimp dish. I can not remember what exactly it is called but it?s magical. They also have almost every mojito you can think of. This place is definitely for rum connoisseurs. cheers! Pros: rum selection Cons: food took a little while coming out more
