Wow I have not been to azucar in awhile but I went out last friday night and I must say the lounge in the back is really done well, they have installed a laser light show that riv...

Worst

Went for our 1 year anniversary dinner on a non busy Sunday evening and... Pros: Ambience is nice Cons: Service is questionable for the prices they're charging on food.

Well were do I start I called to make a reservation for dinner and I was told that all tables had been booked so I asked if I could be put on a waiting list if there was a cancellation we about 3 horus later I got a call asking if I would like to come in for dinner, I jumped at the chance because I waited until the last minute to use my groupon. I just wanted say what a great dinner I had. My server was a little slow but the food made up for that in many ways you have to go in and try the food it is not mexican food but food from all over Latin America. Such bold flavors I would like to try and duplicate it at home but I know what a mess I will make so I will have to come back to Azucar and try another one of the dishes on the menu. I heard they are known for the mojitos so I had to try one which was very tasty blood orange. The atmosphere was pleasant and I hear that they have many events throughout the week to enjoy I will come back and see for myself. Once again thank you for getting back to me as quickly as you did. Great Spot 8/2/2011

I m so happy to find place where my latin brothers and sister come out and dress nice. No baggie jeans and football jersey's. What can I say about the mojitos azucar is know for their mojitos and I will have to climb onboard with the mojito bandwagon. The food was excellent and nice portions. I went in on a friend night for dinner with my boys and had a great time. We went into the back lougne were there is a great mixture of different music for those who like other music as well as the salsa and cumbia come to azucar and get your party on. The girls are nice looking and not stuck up you can actually ask them to dance and feel good about it. Very nice crowd hand a good time. more

I can't say enough great things about this restaurant! The food was delicious! Their drinks are great too.... my blood orange mojito was just yummy. The service was on point. Very attentive. I will be coming back and telling all my friends! more

Check out Happy hour 8/1/2011

a few of us stopped by Azucar for happy hour what a time the drinks were not your typical waterd down drinks and the tapas were filling. It turned out to be a very good night I learned how to get my Salsa right but I think I need a few more lessons which are free on Monday nights, if you want to get your salsa swag on you have to try the lessons on monday nights thanks for turning a boring monday night into a salsa fun night more

Impressive Service 8/1/2011

I was invited to Azucar for my cousin's birthday party last Friday night and I must say I was so impressed by the service that we got. I had no idea that the place would have two lounges both offer full bars. The staff was so attentive to our needs that I am going to have my birthday party at Azucar in Septemeber. I will tell all my friends they must visit Azucar for a great time in San Jose. more

You have to try the pescalo vericruz mexico 7/31/2011

I went to Azucar last tuesday with a friend who had a groupon and asked me to go. I have never been there so i decided to go with her and I am so glad that I did we had the best time. The pescalo vericruz mexico was fabalous it is white fish with tomatoes,onions, bell peppers and a sauce to die for it came with white rice and beans with plantains so yummieeeee. I will see you soon for another wonderful dinner. more

Great dinner spot 7/30/2011

most people talk about the mojitos and i would have to get in line with that but I had dinner with my lady on wednesday night ordered the steak strips and must say that the steak was excellent very flavorfu and tender. My lady ordered the calamari and ceviche which I crinkled up my nose since I am not a big sea food eater after much begging she got me to try the ceviche and I must say the I am now converted will come back and next time I will be ordering the ceviche...lol try something new and you just might like it. big ups to the chef. Thanks Azucar for chaning my mind about sea food. more

Family Dinner Night 7/27/2011

I have never been more wonderfully surprised than the evening my family and I went to Azucar From the very start we were greeted with great smiles. Although the wait was about 20 minutes it worth waiting every minute. The environment was rich, exciting, warm and so friendly. From appitizers to dessert the bill was more than reasonable and ensured we would visit again in the very near future. more

went in last friday for a date night with my girl we had a blast the food is off the hook and the drinks were some of the best mojitos that we have tasted. Love the life band son de kali we plan on coming back next week for more salsa dancing and great drinks. more

Happy hour on the back patio was marvelous you get to enjoy the setting sun with good food and tasty drinks. The area is just what you need after a long day at work nice spot to sit back and have great conversation. The addition of the waterfall sets it off just so. more

Best Mojitos 7/24/2011

I came in on Friday after work to have drinks with my co workers they left I stayed had a ball. Since I had nothing to do on Saturday night I went back and had a blast if you like Salsa dancing and Mojitos then this is the place to be. I also found out if you are like me Salsa challenged they have free lessons on Monday nights. more

If you have not been to Azucar I suggest you go. The Mojitos are the very best that I have had, and they have so many different flavors I am going to try at least one of every flavor. The food is wonderful. The staff very attentive. Had a wonderful time, will go back until I have had every Mojito. Thanks Azucar for being the flavor of San Jose more

The food and atmosphere made it unique. The food was very yummy, the service was great the drinks were good enough to definitely want more!! Would go back, and just might tomorrow night.....salute' Pros: Fun and yummy Cons: none that I experienced more
