Avistele at Ponte Vedra

Avistele is a great place to live. The home I'm in is large and works for my needs. When I place a service call it is handled quickly and efficiently. The staff in the office is professional and courteous. The whole staff including the maintenance staff are genuinely nice. The grounds are well maintained. I even like most of my neighbors. I highly recommend Avistele for anybody that is looking for a place to live in the Beaches/Ponte Vedra area. more

Like others mentioned, they rely only on their curb appeal. The customer service is poor and the management lies to your face in order to take your security deposit. If I could get through to the owner, Mr. Howard Primer, I would love to tell him how I feel about the complex. I will not refer anybody here. After living at Avistele for one year, I cannot recommend the complex to friends or family. The apartments are old, and we had a good amount of maintenance issues. My biggest issue with Avistele was the Security Deposit. When I moved out, I left the apartment in very good condition with no damage. They took my $250 pet deposit and sent me a bill for another $200 because they said my carpet needed to be replaced. When I was living in the apartment, we had a slab leak that flooded the entire apartment with a mix of dirt and water. The carpet was ruined at that point. I lived here 2yrs ago. When I first moved in the place looked spotless, but there was a slight odor - sort of like a musty cigarette smell that someone has tried to disguise. The front office girl ASSURED me that it was only new carpet smell, and that it would go away. I was skeptical - and had good right to be because soon after, the place began smelling like an old smoker's house. It's hard to get the cigarette smell out of a home. Let me tell you about the bugs. These apartments are OLD, built back in the late 70s/early 80s. I kept finding these huge gross bugs all over the house - and management said they asked the bug company to spray. So not only did I get to live with bugs, but the chemicals that were sprayed to kill the bugs. It wasn't just my unit that had this problem. A few days after I moved in, the family in the next door unit was moving out and they said they couldn't wait to leave because of the bugs and cockroaches. SO GROSS! As other reviewers have noted, curb appeal is really all this place has. I lived here for over three years, and the customer service orientation dimished each year. They say one thing, and do another. They set a lease value, and then add on fees to nickle and dime you. The manager has created a deteriorating atmosphere for staff and residents. Initially I requested a second floor 2/2 but got a first floor unit. They offered a second floor but I'd have to wait another month, so I took the first floor unit. Once I moved in the place was spotless but soon discovered the following summer my air conditioner was inefficient due to it being 26 years old. The managers refused to replace it unless it completely broke down. Beaches Energy offered to do an audit which revealed the air conditioner was inefficient and advised I ask for an official air conditioner tech to inspect it. Avistele' manager insisted their maintenance manager was certified in air conditioning and only wrapped exposed pipes and wiring. My electricity more than doubled in the summer months and management refused to replace my air condition stating the owner would not install a $3000 new air conditioner for one tenant. We have only lived here for about a month. We were not able to see our apartment before moving in. Overall, we were mostly satisfied. They replaced our fridge because the one in the apt was old and the seal was broken. The microwave is also old, with dials instead of a touchpad. The microwave in the model is brand new of course, and we feel the appliances in the apts shouldn't be too much older than the mode. Some of the baseboards had damage which should have been taken care of before we moved in. The good parts are the size of the apartment and the fireplace. There are vaulted ceilings and a nice wetbar. I would reccommend Lakeview Village, but make sure you see the actual apartment you are moving into before you do. PROS: size, fireplace, vaulted ceilings CONS: older appliances more
