Avia Salon & Day Spa

I think the overall experience with this salon is based on the stylist you get. I went in there a couple hours before closing wanting to get half hi -lights and a haircut, and even though I have very long, thick and curly hair they didn't tell me no. instead, Susan told me she would stay past closing to work on my hair for me, and wow! Am I glad I got her!!! I wanted light ash blond highlights on very dark hair and I was worried she would tell me it wouldnt be possible, but she said no problem and delivered on her promise. She got it to the exact shade that I wanted, with almost no damage, something that is extremely hard to do. Her prices were lower than everywhere else that I have done my hair, and lower than some of the other stylists there. she is a perfectionist who pays a great deal of attention to detail, repeatedly going over my hair to make sure the haircut was exactly symmetrical. I just went to this salon for the first time to get a manicure by Darla. She did the semi permanent manicure and it is great! The salon is beautiful and the staff friendly. Darla did an awesome job on my nails. I previously wore acrylics and they wrecked my nails. This gel feels and looks so good. I am so excited to see my natural nails grow. I love Darla, she is the best! more

I highly recommend Avia Salon & Day Spa for all your cosmetic, hair, and spa needs. I have had a couple different hair stylists there over the years, and they were all very professional, moderately priced, and very current with today's styles. Currently I see a stylist, Kitty, who is great. She's very trendy, educated in hair, and great to talk to. I highly recommend her for any of your hair needs. In addition, Avia's spa services are equally impressive. Their masseuse team is very professional and they provide a variety of spa services. I haven't used many of the spa and other services here, I only get my hair cut but Jess T is the best hair stylist in La Mesa. She cuts both mens and womens hair and her prices are cheap considering she is located in a Day Spa. She is funny, and does a wonderful job on cut, color, and styles. more

I have been comming here for 4 years and Jess T is the best! She has great prices and always makes time for me. This is the most professional place to get a haircut and always have the best stylists. more

Facial rooms have ambiance. They take their time with you. Not so sure about the nail care area. Could use a little work. The nail area is more like your corner shop than a spa experience. more

I love this spa!! I have a regular girl, Kitty, that does a fabulous job. I hired her to do hair for my wedding for my MOH, flower girls, mothers and myself. She was professional, on time and very easy to work with. She even drove to where my wedding was instead of us having to come to her.As for the salon itself, it is always clean and everyone is very nice. I have had a few other girls cutting and coloring my hair and I have never been disappointed with any of them. Everyone seems trendy and educated as to current styles. I consider the prices for cuts and colors to be fair and reasonable for a somewhat upscale spa setting. more

I decided to support my local communitie's economy so I booked an appt for hair styling and make up at this salon for the very first time. I often go to hair salons and I was not impressed with their services one bit and to top it off I developed pinkeye a couple days later. After contacting the manager Jessica Ginn to report my diagnosis, she completely blew me off and not only did not have one ounce of sympathy for my situation, but practically blamed me for having to buy new make up brushes for the salon. Needless to say Customer Service is not her main priority and getting my money back was completely of the question. My experience there has led me to lose 4 days of work due to the contagiousness of the matter and much discomfort, on top of throwing away my hard earned money. I really hope this is an isolated matter but thats not for me to research. I have contacted the appropriate state medical board and business relations agencies for that.
