First, let me say that I am a healthcare provider here in Austin. My husband and I did IVF with the other group in town (several times), to no avail. We joked with Dr. S Kavoussi that he just has that ""magic touch"", because we did in vitro at his Westlake IVF lab and got pregnant 1st try !! He is a real find, a fantastic physician with impeccable bed-side manners. I have already referred my cousin and several of my friends to his fertility clinic. I would recommend him without reservations whatsoever. Thank you Dr. Shahryar, without your help I know I wouldn't have my precious daughter. I will always be grateful. more

Bad Service and Response Time 8/11/2012

First, I want to say that we saw both Dr. S. Kavoussi and Dr. P Kavoussi to discuss fertility. Both were very professional and knowledgeable. However, the response time after the initial meeting was horrible. I had to call several times. Each time, I was told that I should get a call back after the Dr. had looked at my films and 2 weeks later, I still do not know if he has viewed them. First I was told that the films were there and that the Dr. just needed to look at them and then I was told that they didn't have the films and would order them right away. We had a similar experience with my husband. I called and they said they had called him and left him a vm. They had called, however, there was never a voice mail. After several phone calls, my husband was finally able to find out his results. I, however, still do not know if the Dr has my films and if he has reviewed them. Dr. Shahryar Kavoussi is the best doctor ever 9/3/2011

I had a tubal ligation in 2007 during a previous marriage. In 2009 I remarried and my husband and I decided we would like to have a child together, so I set about searching for a good doctor to help us out. In March of 2011 I found Dr. Kavoussi, and from our very first meeting, I felt incredibly comfortable with him and confident in his ability to help us achieve pregnancy. In April my husband and I took out a loan for the full amount of the surgery and scheduled our date in May. My surgery was unsuccessful, due to my excess weight and not through any fault of Dr. Kavoussi. Even though my surgery failed through no fault of his own, Dr. Kavoussi still seemed to view this as a personal failure and even called me personally on a Saturday to see how I was feeling and discuss what my other options were to achieve pregnancy. While this has been a long, painful journey for me, and I won't be able to achieve pregnancy due largely to the financial aspect and that my husband is deploying with the Army, as soon as I can afford it, I will DEFINITELY return to Dr. Kavoussi and the rest of the wonderful staff at Austin Fertility and Reproductive Medicine. more

Really listened 5/10/2011

My husband and I were having a hard time working with today's fast paced OBs that could take the time to consult with us on trying to get pregnant. We wanted an expert in the field of fertility to atleast take the time to consult with us and explore and answer some questions we had. We were very impressed with Dr. Shahryar Kavoussi knowledge and experience and especially the time he took with my husband and I gave us the confidence we did the right thing for some consultation. more

Because of Dr. S Kavoussi, We're Parents!!! 4/22/2011

For as long as I could remember I was always told I would have a very hard time getting pregnant. After a devastating miscarriage I decided to seek help and my OB referred me to Dr. S. I was so nervous at first but from the start he had a plan. He was honest with us about the risks of fertility treatments and made us really think about the options before starting. Our first round we were pregnant and were soon faced with a tough decision regarding high order multiples. He was very caring and referred us to the right place for assistance. He continued to monitor me until I was 13weeks and I cried after I left my last appointment. No matter how things were looking he was very compassionate and always made me feel like I was the one and only person on his mind even though I know I wasn't the only one seeing him. After a difficult pregnancy and 3 months of strict bed rest ordered by my OB we now have very beautiful twins. A boy and a girl! They are three months now and our life is complete. Highly Recommend Dr. S. Kavoussi! 3/10/2011

I originally saw Dr. S. Kavoussi for suspected Endometriosis and fertility problems. He was the first doctor to take me seriously and suggest a plan of action. Since then I've had one surgery, several consults and several rounds of fertility treatment. He has been patient, positive and kind the entire way through this difficult journey. Dr. S. Kavoussi never rushed me or made me feel stupid for asking questions. He always seemed genuinely concerned with how I was doing. I also appreciated that he never pushed treatments and always allowed me to go at my own pace. I saw him for appointments twice on weekends and had several personal calls from him after surgery and blood work. My husband and I joke about how he must never get to go on vacations. He is always so available for his patients. I would recommend him to anyone seeking help with fertility or endometriosis. more

Review all charges 12/14/2010

Dr. K the younger physician is WONDERFUL! He met me @ his ofc. @ midnite to give me my shot b/c my husband & I could not administer it. As for billing, there are SEVERE issues. Make sure you keep a log of everything they tell you & write it down. And repeat everything. Do the same with the SA ofc. This was such a stressful time for me but I made sure to document everything. If it was not for my diligence they would have made out with over $2k of our money. They were charging us for their services which we had to pay upfront then filing claims to our insurance. more

Uncaring, scam artisits. 12/1/2010

Avoid this place unless you want to be treated like a lab rat with a bank account.\r \r The Doctor himself is very knowledgeable and has a great manner however everything else is terrible. There is little if any regard for patients comfort and opinions but the main issue is with the admin staff. In general they are just incompetent, they tell you wrong information, deny ever speaking to you, and never call you back. Additionally not only do they nickle and dime you for everything, they run a scam. They asked us to pay 1000's of dollars upfront, even though our insurance covers this 100%, they then broker a deal with the insurance to just pay $200, which is all they give back to the patients. This practice is so utterly disgusting as they are preying on people desperate for a baby. I'm absolutely sure that the stress they caused us was a contributing factor to us not getting pregnant.\r (FYI - it's pretty clear that most of the reviews here are by friends/famliy/workers) more

Was reluctant to see a male doc, but glad I did! 11/3/2010

I was referred to Dr. S Kavoussi when an infertility evaluation indicated that I had a blocked fallopian tube and would have difficulty conceiving due to a very irregular cycle. I was *very* hesistant to see a male doctor, but he was the only reproductive endocrinologist that my insurance would cover. more

Dr. K.M. Kavoussi has been my OB/GYN for 19 years. He is the most caring and compassionate doctor I have ever been to in my life. Not only is he a good doctor, but he loves what he is doing.\r He has treated me for several medical problems and done surgery twice. I feel like he is my guardian angel. more

I have had a few appointments with Dr. Kavoussi and one small surgery. He has a very dear and caring bedside manner and takes time to answer any questions. He is respectful and a good listener. I felt confident in his diagnosis and his skills in treatment. I would definitely recommend him. Pros: Caring Bedside Manner more

100% agree with all the reviews on this page for Dr. S. He is the nicest doctor I've seen and really listens. I am not trying to conceive just manage my endometriosis, and he really makes me feel like I'm important. Go see him! more

Unbelievably Awesome Doctor 7/15/2009

My husband and I began consulting with Dr. S. Kavoussi back in April and then proceeded to have a tubal reversal last month. From the very first visit when we met him we knew we had found the perfect doctor for this procedure. He is so very knowledgeable and comforting all at the same time. I have never had a doctor with so much care and concern, not to mention an incredible bedside manner. We are able to start ""trying"" for a baby in a couple of weeks and thank Dr. S. Saved My Mother's Life 5/10/2009

This man discovered a lump in my mother's breast. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in the 2c stage. Had he not discovered the lump, she would have had to had her breast removed or worse. She is now in remission and I feel I have him to thank for it. I will go to this doctor as long as I live in Texas. more
