great yoga studio 7/18/2006

I started yoga at a gym about five years ago, hoping to ward off rotator cup surgery. I appear to be doing well with that and have, in the bargain, found a great new part of my life. I've tried many different styles of yoga and a number of teachers, and find that Atlanta Yoga offers among the very best instruction I've found in the Ashtanga style. The teachers at Atlanta Yoga focus on breathing, they are very good at offering corrections to the postures, and they strike a great balance between challenging a student and letting you follow your own path. Atlanta Yoga teachers help you really focus on your practice effectively. Pros: price, schedule, accesssibility Cons: wish there were more first series classes more

Atlanta Yoga is incredible 3/11/2006

Four years ago I chose Atlanta Yoga for primary exercise and couldn't be happier. Practicing yoga has made this 42 year old feel like he's 20! They teach the Ashtanga form of yoga first taught by Pattabhi Jois for decades, itself derived from centuries old core yoga. John Sherrod manages and is also an incredible teacher. The other instructors are also excellent including Lori and Stephanie. No pressure at Atlanta Yoga as they believe its a personal practice and their job is to facilitate not dictate. New to Atlanta? Give Atlanta Yoga a try. Thinking about yoga but putting it off? Don't put it off any longer; check out a "basic's" class and show up 15 minutes early w/towel and workout clothes; free mats provided for beginners. If a student or of limited means, they also offer "pay what you can afford" donation classes too. Hope to see you there! Pros: The People, Great atmosphere, Ashtanga more

Continuing a spectacular tradition 3/7/2006

I've attended Atlanta Yoga since Adele Gale was the leadInstructorOwnerGuru. She is far more then a master yoga instructor (She'll be quick to tell you there is more to master then can be mastered). When she moved to Maine, the studio experienced a period of mourning. John Sherrod accepted the challenge to rebuild the studio's practice. He shares Adele's laid-back approach to the principles of yoga, her humility, and a deep understanding of what yoga is all about. Atlanta Yoga is, once again, the most enlightening destination in the city. The instructors are exceptional and encourage a personal, independent practice. The instructor-led classes are intimate and personalized. Each class is unique and touches on subtleties you may never have considered. One class is enough to fuel a week of home practice. Its an addicting practice. Be warned, once you try it, you may never be the same. Pros: personal, unintimidating, authentic more
