Worst

I went to see Dr. Crane when I found out I was pregnant. I had just moved back to Orange County and didn't have a regular doctor. On my first visit, the front desk was extremely...

frustrated 7/20/2010

VERY disorganized office, calls you 10 minutes before your appointment to tell you that your appointment has been cancelled, double books appointments quite frequently, and books appointments when doctors aren't even going to be there! VERY inefficient. the wait time has ALWAYS been over an hour. it's ridiculous. some of us don't sit around all day waiting for the doctor. some of us have to work! Pros: doctors are fantastic...IF you can see them Cons: office admin/receptionist/appointment people more

More than helpful 1/27/2010

Doctors of Women's health has been very helpful with the many health stuggles I have been through. My doctor has been more than kind and caring Pros: Polite, accomodating, and caring more

Dr. Monica Aszterbaum 1/23/2010

I have been going to Doctors of Women Health Center for five years. Dr Aszterbaum performed one of my surgeries and I was happy with the pre-op information and interaction with surgery schedulers. My yearly paps have also been fine. I like Dr. Aszterbaums' professionalism, she is matter of fact without being cold or abrasive. When I was diagnosed with cancer last year Dr. Aszterbaum recommended an awesome female breast surgeon and followed up with a couple of calls to give me some encouragement. My primary care doc didn't even do that and in the haze of the shock it meant a lot! Yes, the office can get crazy busy however I have never received attitude from reception or been surprised by a lost appointment. Have I had to wait sometimes? Yes, but not usually. With so many patients I expect appointments to run behind sometimes. The answering service is just that, an answering service only. I agree that they are frustrating. I prefer to call back when staff is in because you will have to repeat everything anyway for confirmation with reception. Your health is important, finding a doctor you like and respect is vital. All the best on your search! more

Poor Client Communication! Over 1 month for results! 1/21/2010

Wife went in for routine ob visit. Mentioned to doctor about increased frequency of urination at night. Doctor does urinalysis. 1 month later!!!! Assistant calls saying there's a urinary tract infection and she needs antibiotics. They blamed lab saying they didn't receive results until 3 days ago. Well, as a veterinarian, a urine and culture test takes 5-7 days maximum. Also, I confirmed on JustAnswer . com with many obgyn's that the culture should have taken only a few days at most. Also, all records are computerized, so it did not get lost in the fax or NOT sent by the lab. Excuses....No apologizes....and still....no call from doctor..... By the way...Look at review for Carla Wells. That poor women had abnormal pap smear results, and it took one month for her to get her results. Not a joke. Go look. Stay away from Doctors of Women Pros: see below Cons: definitely, see below more

I don't recommend this place to anyone 10/29/2009

I have been going here for a year, and I am officially DONE. The doctors and staff do not give you the time of day and it's impossible to get anythiing done there. I went in for a pap test and they didnt call me back until a month later to tell me my results were abnormal. I can never get an appt and the service sucks. They made me wait over 3 weeks to pick up my medical records, which are MINE and I have every legal right to them. Obviously they do not value their patient's health because in the case of an emergency, you do not wait 3 weeks to pick up your medical records. Plus they charged me $17 to pick them up, when they are MINE!! If they want to charge you, it should be 10 cents per copy, mine would have come out to 20 cents. It's impossible to get a hold of the doctors, I do not recommend this place to anyone. I am tired of doctors getting away with shitty practice and ripping you off while they do it. more

Dr.Carla Wells= horrible doctor. 9/8/2009

I transferred to the Doctors of Women after a traumatizing experience with my previous Dr. I had to have a coloscopy done and Dr. Carla Wells was ruthless. I've had the procedure done before and the pain was bearable. However with Dr. Carla Wells... she gave me no warnings as to when she would be taking the biopsy or scraping leaving me in tears and feeling faint. 6 mo. after the procedure I scheduled a routine pap to make sure I'm in the clear... which was absolutely painful!! Dr. Carla Wells has no mercy at all and treats a normal pap as if its carving a turkey for Thanksgiving... 2 weeks later I received a letter informing me that I AM in the clear and need to schedule another pap in 6 mo. Then 6 mo. later instead of getting a reminder call or a reminder letter I receive a letter stating that ""After numerous attempts to contact you by phone we are sending this letter to inform you of your abnormal pap smear. It is very important that you follow up on this to prevent further complications which could lead to cancer of the cervix. BLAH BLAH BLAH"" FIRST OF ALL I NEVER received a call from my Dr. explaining ANY of this!!! and SECONDLY the last I heard from them my pap was NORMAL! I called the office outraged to make sure that they have my correct phone number, which they do. I told Dr. Carla Wells' ""assistant"" or whatever she is, that it is unacceptable to send me a letter like this when I've heard nothing from them saying that my pap is abnormal. She went on to say ""we will NOT apologize for this. There must be a glitch in the phone system when they make the calls."" this is unacceptable!! I stated that Dr. Carla Wells needs to figure out a different way to give her patients a ""make your appointment reminder"" because this letter freaked me out and it gives me the worst stress. The entire staff was rude and gave me attitude as if to say ""and this is my problem how??"" I'm never going back there again and I hope they close down because there is NOTHING good to say about them. The staff makes me feel unwelcome and as if i'm wasting their time. its ridiculous. Pros: Close to home Cons: Everything else about the place. more

Great Doctor 8/14/2009

Dr. Monica Aszterbaum was my ob in 1999 and being an obese patient I was very nervous that she would be rude and cold like so many doctors tend to be. She is so nice and after not seeing her for ten years due to an insurance change, she remembered me and took time to listen to my concerns in her office and listen to my history as well as follow up with an ultrasound to double check my symptoms. She is so considerate and professional. Great doctor!!! Pros: Patient and good listener Cons: Staff is a bit busy but where aren't they more

Wish I Would Have Seen These Before Becoming a Patient 8/10/2009

I have been a patient of Dr. Crane's for nearly two years and have been happy with everything until a non-routine matter came up. To make a long story short, if you conform to being a routine, quick, and simple patient, you will be happy with this practice. \r Dr. Crane will not speak to any of her patients over the telephone for any reason, she requires that you make an appointment, even if she just saw you in the same month you are calling in. \r With an impecable background such as hers, I guess you become so in-demand that you can't provide quality care anymore. Dr. Crane is a VERY competent and talented doctor, but I am guessing that she is over-worked because her attitude and demeanor are very inconsistent and downright unacceptable at times.\r Also, the ""support"" staff here is TERRIBLE. I am guessing that they, too, are over-worked because every one of them wreaks of exhaustion, poor attitude, and discourteousness. It seems like a cattle call EVERY time I have walked in the door - they just want to hurry up and get you out of there. \r Also, don't make any simple requests somewhat out of the ordinary such as a copy of your records: ""It will take up to two weeks to send them to you, that's our legal right; the doctor has to give permission/sign off on having them copied."" As stated by a rep in the practice. The last time I checked, it isn't legal to withhold my personal medical records and no one has to give me permission to obtain a copy of them. \r Sadly, it seems as though this practice prides itself on making it as difficult as possible for a patient to communicate with the doctor, process simple requests, and provide basic customer service. I have had nothing but road blocks when trying to accomplish something as simple as making an appointment. I have had two experiences in the last two weeks where I call to make an appointment and after taking time off of work, being forced to pay for an office visit to have a 5-minute conversation with my doctor regarding some test results, I arrive at the office to find out that they ""don't have any appointment on file."" \r All in all, I felt compelled to write a review after seeing so many negative reviews about this practice in hopes that it will help someone else avoid a terribly frustrating situation. \r Also, I sincerely hope that Dr. Crane sees some of these reviews so that she can regain a good reputation and possibly implement some improvements within her practice. \r I wish Dr. Crane and everyone in this office the very best in all their endeavors in life, it's a shame that they don't seem to wish the same for anyone else. \r Pros: Competent Doctor Cons: Everything Else more

the worst 7/16/2009

before i made my appointment, i made sure they would give me what i asked. they said it was OK so I made the appointment. however, when i went there, they said they made a mistake. so not only did they waste my time, i have to make another appointment somewhere else. had i known, i would have made the appointment else where! they practically wasted a month of my time when the problem could have been solved already\r \r Here was my experience:\r waiting room: i had to wait almost an hour to be seen. \r wait some more: after they called me in, I had to wait some more in Dr. Aszterbaum's office\r patient's room: Dr. Aszterbaum was very rushed. Did not address my concerns. i think she assumed since I am in my 20s that I would be healthy, so she did not do a thorough exam. \r \r i work in healthcare so I am pretty familar with the system (I will be receiving my MD degree very soon). do not come to this place. go somewhere else or go to a university hospital. Pros: nothing Cons: bad doctors, bad workers more

Disappointed in Doctors of Women 7/20/2008

I went to see Dr. Crane when I found out I was pregnant. I had just moved back to Orange County and didn't have a regular doctor. On my first visit, the front desk was extremely rude to me as my last name had recently changed due to marriage; however, my insurance still was under my maiden name. Front desk gave me attitude that the doctor might not be able to see me because of this, I was on the verge of tears and then all of a sudden, they told me the doctor could see me. Same appointment I had an ultrasound where I found out my baby had stopped growing and I would need to do a D&C procedure since I would eventually miscarry. The ultrasound technician was extremely rude asking me, ""haven't you noticed that you haven't had pregnancy symptoms for the last couple of weeks?"" Well, NO it was my first pregnancy, I wasn't sure what symptoms were normal. Also, I've had to wait over 1.5 hours for each appointment I've had there, which is really annoying when you have to leave work early to get to the appointment on time and then have to wait that long. I am looking for a new doctor now. more

Dr. Lisa Crane 3/13/2008

Dr. Crane obviously doesn't care about her patients and most of all there HEALTH. I had to go on in for a coloscopy. Before starting the procedure, i started asking different questions and one of the responses from her was ""the more questions you ask, the longer this is going to take"". Then while doing the procedure, she received a phone call on her cell phone, where she proceeded to keep my legs wide open. the phone call was obviously personal. After hanging up, she didn't even wash her hands or change the gloves. Thats just part of the experiece. I suggest anyone thinking about going to her to think twice. It was the worst experience anyone could ever have. more

Lisa Crane 12/2/2007

Doctors of Women's Health Center is terrible. They seem like they care during your first visit just to lure you in but after I went back, they are rude and less attentive. You have to wait there for a long time and I even had my appointment cancelled on me! I called them on a weekend once and they have all these conditions that if you don't qualify as an emergency, they don't page the doctor. What good is that for people who are desperate for answers?!? Don't use any of the doctors here! Pros: nice during the 1st visit Cons: terrible if you visit them after the fist time and if you have an emergency more

Pleasant Dr's, but misdiagnosed twice 11/7/2007

I used to like Dr. Aszterbaum until she couldn't diagnose a very common rash on my inner legs. I finally found out from my dermatologist that I have psoriasis -- which very commonly affects the scalp and groin/leg area. This is something Dr. Aszterbaum SHOULD HAVE KNOWN! She made me feel like I was crazy and making up my difficulties with the rash. Also, I was having problems with extreme pain near my ovaries, but rather than test for problems, Dr. Azterbaum and her Nurse Practitioner told me (diagnosing me over the phone) that my pain was not related to my reproductive organs, and they wouldnt see me. They said I needed to see my General Dr. So, I did, and guess what he found out ....I had enormous cysts ALL OVER MY OVARIES. Uh huh...not related to my reproductive organs? That was the last straw for me. How does this office keep running? Pros: Several Dr's in one office Cons: None of them are any good. more

Love dr crane, but.. 8/22/2007

Dr Crane is great and I really like her. \r But unfortunately I have to agree with the previous entry\r and confirm that the front desk service at the clinic is horrible.\r I took a PAP test and they called and said it was normal,\r then they called again a couple of weeks later and said it wasn't.\r So i had to go in again to do another test. The test came back\r normal so I think they mixed up my result with someone else \r the first time. \r \r 2 (!) times i've made an appointment on the phone,\r got there and they don't have me in their files.\r So I had to make yet another appointment \r and come back another day.\r \r I've been thinking about seeing someone else,\r but now that I just found out im pregnant I really\r wanna go to a doctor I know and not a new one.\r And dr.Crane is doing a great job, so are the nurses.\r \r It's just the girls at the front desk you have\r to keep an eye on :) Pros: Like the doctor Cons: Don't like the 'supporting' staff more

Worst Front Desk Service 9/12/2006

Unfortunately the Front Desk service brings Dr. Aszterbaum's score down. Because of their negligence, lack of professionalism & plain rudeness, I have decided to go with a different doctor. I called their prescription services almost a month ago & have still not gotten a call back, nor any action. I continue to try and contact them with no response. Dr. Aszterbaum has always been a helpful & caring doctor, but the support system around her has made me so irate that I had to give this bad review. more
