Disappointed in Tremont 11/15/2017

t recently needed some plumbing work done, so I picked up the telephone book and found Arnold and sons. What a mistake that was. I needed one valve replaced. I was charged 394.00 dollars, the part was 10.00 dollars, it took 15 minutes. now that is unjustified. The worst part is no veteran discount. As a disable vet I am on a limited income. I feel as though I have been robbed. I received a receipt with no price break down. just 394. dollars. We should call the news stations about this treatment of disable vets. I would like an explanation to this treatment. RESPONSE FROM Arnold & Sons Plumbing Htg: Let me first sir thank you for your service to our country. In addition to the technician who provided your services being a veteran of the United States Navy, I am the service manager of Arnold and Sons and assure you as a veteran of the Desert Storm Era myself, there are very few things I'm more proud of than my service to our country. We have always honored our senior citizens with 10% discounts there is no reason we shouldn't do the same for our veterans so I appreciate this as a reminder of the times we live in and another great opportunity it's to improve our service to our future customers. I think we should be clear that we do not hand anyone a bill AFTER work is completed. I would agree that would warrant the opportunity to feel robbed. We gave the price for the work to be done UPFRONT and the work was authorized to be performed with a signature by you. However, if you feel the service experience did not match the charges then I am concerned of course about this and will addresss this with you at your earliest convenience... I appreciate these review sites and the people like yourself who respond with emotion and honesty... I will make a trip personally to come and see you, talk with you about the service and make adjustments as needed. We have had Arnold & Sons complete several jobs for us. Their professionalism is outstanding. They arrived on time everyday of the job, completed the job as described and when expected. The estimate they gave us was detailed and matched the final invoice. We will use them for all of our future plumbing needs. more

WAY Overpriced! 11/13/2017

The service person was nice and did a good job. However, their prices are almost criminal! $570 to install a garbage disposal!? I looked up the model online and it was only $220. That means they charged me over 300 bucks for labor on a 15 minute install!! Then they wanted $1400 for an off brand water softener. I ended up declining and getting a highly rated Kenmore from Sears for $550 installed. That's right...850 BUCKS LESS! Stay away from this place unless you drive a Maserati! RESPONSE FROM Arnold & Sons Plumbing Htg: We can certainly empathize with prices for plumbing services being what they are. Just want to clarify though that your service technician arrived at 9:19 and closed out the job at 11:02. This remains consistent with our avg 45min task of installing garbage disposal and 15 min for the safety inspection. NOT a 15min install. If we want to be specific with numbers lets at least be accurate. Also the $550 you spent for installation for a highly rated softener doesn't include the cost of the softener. Which our $1450 price did include with a 5 YEAR PARTS AND LABOR WARRANTY. Ours may still be more costly but there are many more advantages to buying through an installer rather than a retail center with Labor warranty being the most critical. We apologize you didn't feel you got what you paid for. We fully understand that prices for plumbing and plumbing services are costly, we will not dispute the costs. We can promise that every customer gets all costs up front before the job begins so there will be no surprises after the work is complete. more

Charge way too much. 10/28/2017

They wanted over $1100.00 to do what they said would take 3 hours. It was a simple job that any plumber could have done in less than 2 hours. I can't see how anybody can afford to pay over $300.00 per hour, for a plumbing job. My brother and I will do the work, and I'll only have to cover the price of parts, which should be less than $100.00. I give them a thumbs down. more

I had a question the day after installation and was told I would get a call back that day. Today, the second day after installation, I still have not received a call. 10/19/2017

I bumped the control panel, taking off the plastic protector, and the digital window display changed to A 0.0. I got it back to showing the temp. The recirculation icon, upper left, is also lit. Is it spposed to be lit? I just want to make sure that it is correctly set, that it will be operating correctly, after my accidental bump. Could someone answer my concerns? more

Terrific as usual 10/10/2017

I was impressed by the professional attitude of everyone involved. They apologized for being 5 minutes past the scheduled time. Five minutes is NOT late! I appreciated their concern. The service man who came made certain to cover his shoes and went right to work. He took the time to explain to me exactly what was causing the problem and how he was going to fix it. The price was fair and this morning the shower worked GREAT. more
