After hearing all the rave reviews of this place, I finally got to try it for myself. As a VIVA BURRITO devotee, I was interested comparing them for myself. There is no compariso...

So i FINALLY went to see what all the fuss was about 12/2/2010

Ok So now that im on city search I can leave this review. I DONT GET IT!!! What is the big deal about this place?? Ok the food tastes good but guess what, if you gave me a million dollars I couldnt tell you the difference between Chipotle and Anna's . I guess if there is no Chipotle around Anna's is a good sub, and vice versa but for all I heard about this place i just thought it was ok/good. more

Am I missing something? 1/11/2010

I don't get why everyone loves Anna's. While their prices are cheap, I don't think that they even remotely resemble authentic Mexican food. On top of which, their service is completely inconsistent. Sometimes I can get my burrito pressed and sometimes they say they don't do that. Their hot sauce can vary from super spicy to completely mild. While it a fast and cheap place to grab a bite, I am just not impressed with Anna's at all. Pros: Cheap prices Cons: Inauthentic Mexican food; inconsistency more

good food, overcharges, questionable employees. 12/16/2009

food is pretty good, way better than taco hell. got overcharged at the somerville location they said sour creme additional .50 on a super burrito, whatever i thought..... few days later go to the one in porter square where sure they were playing authentic mexican rap music with swearing and all in spanish. some of us other folk know the bad words too and its not very professional. saw a big line so i asked to pay and told her what i ordered. turned out to be like $5.30 for a super burrito, fine, plunked down $6 waiting for change while they finished making it. they put it in the bag next to register and i look over again and the lady wanted like $7.06 saying rice and beans were extra. rather than start an argument, because i then noticed from my police work in lynn, she had one of those tattoos of a teardrop from her eye (when a member of the same gang gets killed) i just paid it. if you are mexican you probably wouldnt want a cashier with a telltale gang tattoo/symbol handling the cash, that is unless the money is going somewhere..... in summation: 1) GOOD food 2) WILL overcharge 3) questionable where the money is going #3 = im not ever going back to one. the last thing i want to do is have even a %1 doubt im funding something illicit. Pros: GOOD FOOD FOR PRICE Cons: eerie, rude employees more

Very Afforable food 2/21/2009

YUM! I <3 the Chicken Burrito. Anna's is very afforable with great portions. The ingredients are always fresh. more

Very unappealing food 11/23/2008

Apparently, this site will not let honest reviews through their filter. My first attempt was rejected, as there are apparently words describing certain of this planet's creatures that are not allowed here. Even though, please note, the expererience I am describing here is 100% true and accurate. So, read between the lines on your own. \r \r Today, went to Anna's & ordered food to take home. At home, we'd opened a container of their quacamole and were eating it with chips when we saw an an entire whole and very large brown thing with lots of legs in the guacamole. So, I took all the food and went back to Anna's. Not only did they not apologize, but actually had the nerve to offer to replace the guacamole!!! As if we'd want another serving from the same place that guacamole came from... When I refused this offer, they finally, reluctantly gave me my money back, but only after painstakingly checking their cash register tape to make sure they had a receipt that matched up with what I had in my bag- gee, good thing I remembered to throw it all in, since I was so very calm after having such a pleasant experience. Definitely do not recommend this place. Pros: Pretty space, looks attractive Cons: Not clean more

Best Taqueria ever! 6/26/2008

There is nowhere else that will serve up such large portions of delicious food for prices so low! I don't live in Boston anymore, so I have to eat at extremely second-rate Qdoba if I want a burrito. But every time I go and visit Boston, I have to stop at Anna's. My favorite is the al-pastor burrito! And I love the staff. They are so fast, I almost feel like I'm slowing them down by ordering! I also love the lemonade- refreshing and delicious. This is by far my favorite cheap food place in Boston, if not the whole East Coast. Pros: Food, service, long lines move quickly, cheap Cons: none! more

SERVICE is Rude 6/17/2008

Found hair in my Burrito and was overchaged. I WAS a loyal customer that put up with the bad service (3yrs)but the hair in my food was just too GROSS to go back again!!! Pros: food is good Cons: Service stinks!! more

best mexican place. 1/31/2008

i think Anna's is a great place to go and have a quick bite to eat. The service is fact and friendly and the food is excellent.! Even though there are alot of locals that visit the service is great. i would recommend Ana's to anyone and have! My friends and i always enjoy a burrito from Ana's. more

Great burritos - quick moving lines even at lunch hour 1/16/2008

I have to disagree with the two reviewers below me. I've never (and this is on a weekly basis over five years) had the servers make a burrito without consulting me for my choices. You must speak loudly and be sure of your order before being called on but they are receptive to your requests. Efficiency should not be mistaken for carelessness or impatience. Anna's offers a good size meal for a great price (sidebar: cash only is a nuisance at times) and just like anywhere else in the city, you will be charged for additions to your meal. I don't know who these people are that expect freebies in a city like Boston. Try the chips and guacamole - the guac is fresh and has little chunks of tomato and is really good. I have a Boloco down the street and a Chipotle soon to open nearby, and having eaten at both of those I still drive the 10 minutes to Annas. Pros: Quick service Cons: Cash only more

Go anywhere else for a burrito!!!!! 1/11/2008

Do yourself a favor and go to Boca Grande instead. Anna's is not good in any way... period. I went to Anna's last night in Davis Square and was not impressed at all. First of all, the service was really really bad. When I got to the counter, rather than wait for me to order, they asked if I wanted a Burrito and I said yes. Well, before even saying what kind, they had already made it and began folding it. I asked them to unfold it because they had made something I didn't want and then, after putting in the correct meat that I wanted, didn't wait for me to tell them that I wanted hot sauce. (and I don't talk slowly... he just didn't care to listen). Basically, they kept folding it before I had even listed the ingredients I wanted. I never even got the guacamole I wanted (didn't feel like asking the counter person to unfold it for a 3rd time!) And charging extra for things like sour cream seems ridiculous. I mean, what's a burrito without the proper ingredients????? And it was so hastily folded, that it fell apart as soon as I picked it up. Granted there was a line behind me, but if quality is sacrificed for speediness, what's the point of even eating there??? You can get much better cheap burritos in Boston just about anywhere else. Boca Grande, El Pelon (by Fenway), and even places like Q'doba and Chipolte will give you a better burrito. I know there is a loyal Anna's following, but after my experience, I don't know how. I have lived here all my life, tried Anna's for the first time, and will never go back. Pros: The fountain drink was okay. Cons: Everything else more

The WORST food ever! 11/15/2007

A few friends of ours recently insisted that we must try Anna's Taqueria in Brookline, MA. What a mistake! The food was seriously some of the worst I've ever had! I ordered two soft tacos and they were horrible....the tortilla was soggy, the meat and seasonings were tasteless and the veggies were way overcooked! Even if it is cheap, in my book it still has to be good. And the service was atrocious as well..nobody even spoke any english! In my opinion, Moe's Southwestern Grill needs to open up a location and show Bostonians what good Mexican food (especially burritos) tastes like. It boggles my mind that Anna's continually wins best mexican/burrito year after year in polls taken by Boston Magazines. Is it just because there aren't any other places to have mexican food? I'm not the only one who feels this way, many of my friends think anna's is horrible too. Pros: None! Cons: Everything! more

Can you say Burrito !!! 2/10/2007

I don't care what anyone says Anna's Burritos are pure happiness. I got hooked on Anna's 2 years ago when I worked in Somerville. The toughest part about taking on a promotion was not being able to have the best burrito I have ever had everyday for lunch. The quesadilla is pretty good too, very filling. Also top it off with a taco el pastor with a hint of lime. Thank you Anna's Taqueria!!! Pros: Quantity, flavor, fast, inexpensive Cons: I wish there was an Anna's closer to me - Route 1 : ) more

I <3 Anna's Taqueria!! 11/26/2006

Anna's is a tasty and cheap spot to grab a burrito. I always get a Carnitas (shredded pork) Burrito w/ cheese, rice&beans, salsa, and guacamole. You can also add verde hot sauce, sour cream, or lettuce. There are also the usual meat options as well as a veggie option but, if you eat pork- definitely try the carnitas! It takes a couple times to get down how to order there, many workers speak little english, but if you are polite and clear you will have no trouble ordering. Yes- They will first ask what size and type of burrito you want, then if you want cheese (then the tortilla is steamed and handed off to another person) then they'll ask if you want rice& beans, then tell them if you want the other extras. Piece of cake, err burrito. Only downside is that they only accept cash. But all around, I love Anna's and I'm thinking of going tonight! Pros: Cheap, tasty carnitas burritos! Cons: Cash only. more

The Worst Taqueria Anywhere! 11/10/2006

I'm originally from San Francisco and I love food like no other. Also, I'm not a picky person when it comes to food. However, now that I've moved to Boston, I've become a much pickier eater seeing as food isn't so great here. And might I add to the list of bad restaurants... Anna's Taqueria. Pros: Cheap Cons: Portion Size, Service, Food more

Very Fast, Very Good. 7/26/2006

The menu is very simple but very tasty. The guys behind the counter are like lightening. The prices are inexpensive so you can certainly make it a regular meal. I like the fact that everything is made to order. Pros: fast service, fresh food, and good prices for everyday meal Cons: seating is sometimes hard to find more

So good, and so cheap! 7/4/2006

I eat at Anna's very reguarly. I think it's a great burrito for a great price -- in fact I have become so addicted that I eat here several times a week (I live between the Porter and Davis locations, so it's too hard not to go often). But out of all the times I've gotten food here, and there have been many, there has been a rare time or two where the burrito has not been up to par, so maybe that explains some of the mixed reviews here. But by and large, it's great, quick food, can be relatively healthy depending on what you order, and you can't really beat the price. At this point, I couldn't live without it! Pros: great burrito, great price more

Worth a Move Back East 3/26/2006

Several years ago I relocated to Southern California, where both Authentic and Americanized Mexican food is abundant, and I still found myself dreaming of Anna's. On my yearly trips back East to see family in New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Central MA, I always made the trip to Anna's. In college I went out of the way on a near daily basis to enjoy a carnitas super burrito. Anna's fits a college budget very well! It's cheap, fast, and worth even the longest of waits. I have always gotten the super burritos, but friends have raved about the other choices available. It's easy to customize your selection to get something for the timid or the daring. I would, and have, recommended this place to just about everyone I know. And I am so thankful I am now back in Boston to enjoy it! Pros: Yummy, Close to T, Inexpensive Cons: None! more

On a budget, eat at Anna's 1/12/2006

The best bang for your buck in Boston! I recomend the Super Carnitas! Pros: price, portions, quick service Cons: lack of seating more

Cheap, good food. 10/10/2005

Very cheap and filling, food is good, but not a good dining atmosphere, only good for a quick bite. Pros: Cheap Cons: No Parking more

love it 8/10/2005

i frequent the anna's in porter and davis squares. the service is hilarious - the burrito makers artfully combine all of the ingredients (you have to see it to believe it) right in front of your eyes, resulting in a concoction that is superior, cheap, and DELICIOUS!!!! i never liked burritos, but after hearing so much good stuff about anna's and then finally going and becoming a regular, i'm a burrito convert. more
