Ann Margarete's Kennel has taken excellent care of our dog from day 1. She used to hate going to our old kennel but now our dog runs right in and is always at ease with her surroundings and very comfortable. The additional attention she receives at Ann Margarete's is what makes this kennel tops in our book. We highly recommend this facility to anyone who wants to go away knowing their dog is well cared for. Our dog comes home clean and happy every time making us very happy too! more

Before boarding my Dog Sophie I tried to do my research and found Ann Margeretes kennel. I read the reviews and am quite frankly a little confused how there could be so many good reviews and an equal amount of bad. They are polar opposite. I found this curious so I did some digging of my own. I phoned the kennel myself and spoke to a young man who identified himself as Adam the Manager of the kennel. I expressed my concerns about the reviews and he went into detail concerning each one. He was more than willing to converse freely with me and provided sound reasons for each of the bad reviews given that he had knowledge of. I asked if i could come down and visit the kennel because I would not like just anyone to take care of my Sophie, to which he agreed. The building is huge and the cages are the size of a small apartment I had right after college. The whole place is very clean and everyone was friendly. I feel this is one of the best Kennels that is around and if you are in need of top quality care for your animal go there. You will not be disappointed. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I have boarded my dog here several times, and the last two times she has been reluctant to get out of the car when I brought her here, which is unusual for her. My dog's last visit here was for a week, while we visited family out of town. She went in a perfectly healthy dog. When I picked her up I was told they added an additional charge for a bath because she had a cyst on her neck that had popped. She had been to the vet two weeks prior for a check up and to the groomer less than a week before her stay at this kennel. Neither saw any development of a cyst on my pet. Coincidentally, my kids had taken pictures with our dog the day we brought her to the kennel, to show their cousins on our visit. There was no cyst present on her when I dropped her off. At the time of pick up, I lifted her ear and she winced. I saw a red patch of swollen, raw skin from the opening of her ear down to her neck and it was oozing. Our vet could not determine the exact cause of her injury, so I never accused Ann Margaret's of hurting my pet, plus, you sign a waver when you leave your pet here and after reading the other reviews I knew I would get nowhere. My issue is that no one called me to say my dog had a problem, or I would have come home right away. The girl at the desk told me they didn't call because it wasn't an emergency. Our vet prescribed antibiotics for her for 10 days, and gave her a cortisone shot to stop the irritation. My dog didn't bark for over a week after I brought her home. She is 14 years old and I will be very surprised if she makes it through the winter. My advice is this, if you have any doubt about leaving your pet here, then don't do it. There are several other kennels that don't have negative reviews and also very good pet sitters out there. Check the Better Business Bureau ratings and go with your instincts. more

We have used Ann Margaret's kennels for over 15 years. Our circumstances are such that we bring our dog to the kennel on a very regular basis. We are always treated well, and so is our dog, which is very important to us. He is always clean and fed. We expect our dog to be well cared for and they fulfill that expectation many, many times each year. more

I used and recommended this kennel for over 3 years, several times per year. In late 2008 I noticed the level of care had really fallen off. The last time I used the kennel my dogs were malnourished and dehydrated when I picked them up after a 9 day stay. I saw on the news that another border during the same time period had pressed charges against them for neglecting their dog.The toys and treats that I had left for the dogs were still unopened in their packages. They have a 2 night minimum policy so if you just need an overnight, you will pay for 2 nights... AND if you have to cut your trip short for any reason you pay for your original dates you reserved. I had a family emergency and had to come back from a 2 week trip after 9 days and I had to pay the remainder of the days for 2 dogs even though I had picked them up. AND I had been a good customer... it doesn't matter how often you use them ... you won't build up any good will. This used to be a good kennel but i don't think the original people are still involved. I would never use or recommend this kennel again. I've boarded both my dog and my cat at Ann Margarete's many times and have been very pleased with the care they have gotten while I am away. I am GLAD they don't let just anyone go in the back to get the dogs all worked up and feel I like it is not only reasonable to ask for advance notice for tours but it's better for the animals. Staff members are very polite and caring and my animals just loved them. Pros: caring staff, clean facilities more

I've brought my dog here since she was a puppy and I still do. She loves going there. Everytime I bring her in, she completely ignores me and always wants to go straight back. When I pick her up, she's always happy and energetic. The staff has always been but nothing but nice and polite. I understand their policies for their tours, just because of liability reasons. They've taken me on a tour and the place is huge, including the cages they put the dogs in(which really don't even look like what some would call a ""cage"") I would recommend this place for everyone Pros: nice staff, dog loved it more

Never take your animal here! I boarded my dog here for 3 weeks. He has been boarded this long every year, and the facility was recommended by my vet. When I picked him up my dog was completely emaciated. He was covered in urine. He was dehydrated, malnourished, and losing his hair. I called 3 times while away to check on him, and they told me every time that he was fine. I immediately took him to the vet and he was kept overnight hooked up to IV's due to his condition. When I called the kennel after seeing the vet, they were not concerned with the dog's condition whatsoever. It seemed that my dog had been completely neglected for the entire time I was gone. My vet was appalled and needless to say they will no longer be recommending this kennel. Cons: neglectful actions more

First, I would not recommend this kennel to anyone. When I picked up my dog from there, I was charged for medications. I asked for what ,and the owner, Anna, said, your dog had diarreah. It's understandable to give a dog an immodium or something, but whatever the dog ate, ended her life Then to top it all off, Anna demanded that I pay cash or make the check payable to her. As a business owner I know this is completely illegal and my money was not going towards business expenses or proper bookkeeping. I do beleive that there is some care for the animals, because if there wasn't the place would have been shut down long ago, but to medicate a dog when you are not even certified to diagnose or perscribe them is simply malicious and to top it off, treating your customers like your personal bank is overly unprofessional, unexceptable, and rude, especially after you wrongfully medicate their loved one. more

Ive borded my dog here since Sage was a puppy she is now 8 years old. She has always been very well takin care off, the people are very kind and truly love the animals I wouldnt bored anywere else. And for the other comment about not seeing the cages in the back all I know is Ive walked my dog to her cage on multiple occasions and the place was clean and nice. They even had a play room for my Sage to interact with the workers. Great Place more

I think this is a vary bad kennel. I think they lie and cover up a lot. I think dogs are mistreated and neglected. They don't let you walk through pass the front office unless they know in advance you are coming so they have time to spiff up to make it look all nice. I would not board a stuffed animal there much less my beloved family pet. Cons: looks and talk are decieving more

Loved this place!!!! Looked like something out of a dream for dogs. The staff were kind and understanding, and was the first time our dog looked forward to coming back somewhere. All the other kennels we have brought him too he hated but he loved it here to the point where he tried to go back in when we picked him up... Pros: nothing there looked like a cage, dogs dont come in contact with each other Cons: this place doesnt advertise more

Good care...nice and secure...the dog loved her stay...I would recomend for a nice clean place for your pet...and the staff is very nice and helpful..... more
