Okay, I may be dating myself here, but I have been trusting my difficult hair to James for about 25 years. He is incredibly talented. My hair is going grey, on top of being extremely fine and having lots of hair. My natural color is dark blonde so recently he gave me a partial weave that blended it all together and made it look completely natural.....James always seems to know what looks best for my face and complexion, and when I want to try a new look, he knows what I'm going for. He has never given me a bad cut or color in the years he's been doing my hair...he even did my hair for my wedding....well, last year I left the husband.....but kept the stylist...LOL more

I have been going to Ankh for 3 years now and Been directly going to see Jennie. I have very curly and Blonde damaged hair and she has truley been a miracle worker. Going out of her way to research the best leave in conditoners for me, even helping me with my allergic reactions to hair dye going COMPLETLY out of her way to find a hair dye that would work for me. She has spend countless hours working one on one with me and always makes me feel beautiful when I walk out of the salon. The salon itself is so relaxing and an amazing place to relax and take time off to do something for yourself. The staff is very nice. more

So a friend of mine recently got her hair done, and it was super blonde. I asked her where she got it done and she told me Ankh Studio in Encino. I decided to try it out. I have black hair and have gone to so many places to get a nice auburn color with some honey low-lights. Everywhere I had gone messed it up and my hair either didn't take the color or it came out red. Sivan was my stylist and she did such a beautiful weave that the low lights weren't big thick strands but blended with my hair. She had one of the most bubbly bright personalities and was extremely personable. I liked that everyone was so nice and the salon was really professional looking but still comfortable, not run down or ghetto or all snooty like in beverly hills. Prices were great, people were friendly. I love this place and I refer anyone, men or women, to come here because these girls will do EXACTLY what you want...or even suggest something if you wanna try something new. more

The moment I walked into Ankh Studio, I was greeted by a blonde woman (forgot to get her name!) She looked to be in her mid 40s. She welcomed me in and asked who I was here to see. She walked me over to the chair of my stylist, Jennie, and offered me some coffee and muffins. She made my coffee the way I take it and was so courteous. Jennie also welcomed me and began doing my hair. I think my favorite part was the wash. It was like a massage for my head. It was so good! She knew exactly how I wanted my hair and finished just in time for me to go to work. I have never received so many compliments on my hair, ever! I love how convenient it is and how friendly everyone was (staff and customers!) This is my new salon, and I'm sticking to it. You should really check it out! more

I was looking for a hairstylist in Encino since I had been shlepping to Beverly Hills for a c&c (color and cut.) I met James through one of those deals where you get a haircut,facial,massage and facelift (kidding) for $70. I didn't know James so I asked him to color my hair rather then cut it, and he obliged. Oh my g-d, the scalp massage was a treat from heaven, and then when blow drying my hair he treated each and every strand as if it was Marilyn Monroe's! Next time I went to Ankh Studio I trusted him to cut it, and he told me that if I kept coming to him and letting him trim it every six weeks, in a year or so it would be long and healthy. Fast forward two years and my hair is as long as when I had extensions and has so much shine people stop me to put their lipstick on in the reflection! more

Last week I was desperate for a haircut and luckily I was referred to Nina by a friend. I'm a simple guy and Usually I'll just go to any hair salon but my last experience was not so good, I felt uncomfortable telling the stylist what I wanted so I thought a change this time might be good. I knew for sure going in it would be a good cut for the $$ but what I didn't expect was the service. When I got there for my appointment I was a bit early so I thought I'd be waiting for awhile. To my surprise Nina was at the front desk waiting to greet me and she took took me right in. The salon itself was very clean with a relaxing ambiance and just had good vibessss! The process was so easy and PAINLESS she started with a wash and a scalp massage which let me tell you, was amazing. I had no idea what kind of cut I wanted when we started but she changed that really quick and helped me decide on something that fit my style. When she was finished i was so happy with the results that I scheduled an appointment for next month. Overall I am really satisfied with my experience at Ankh studio and that I can brag about my hair to my friends now :D! more

I live off balboa blvd and so I usually go To the supercuts a few blocks away from balboa on ventura but I stumbled apon this place called ankh and well I was getting a normal cut but I started to think twice because of the price considering it was three times the price I would normally pay. But I figured it had been a while so what the hey. First of all he had a mini cupcake for me wich was awesome. Then he was actually a really nice guy. I was kinda vauge as to what kind of cut I wanted because I'm so used to someone else doing it. But he knew exactly what I was talking about. I haven't even put gel in my hair, cuz I don't think it needs it. It was soo good. It might have cost me a pretty penny but it was sooo worth it! I will always pay top dollar for top notch services and this one was definetly a good investment.I left that guy a james a big tip cuz he gave me a valuble one about tryin a new conditioner that so far is working amazingly well for me. If ur smart use ur head, literally and put urself in good hands at ankh. more

I recently decided I needed to improove my style and needed to find the perfect salon and stylist to make me silky smooth. I was having a good New York style dog when suddenly it occured to me I must return to pay the meter. It was at that point that I ran into a beautiful woman with long Blonde hair. She said her name was Sivan and she could take me and transform me within the hour. I said no way proove it and one hour later she did just that. I walked out feeling like a whole new man with my amazing cut and style. Can't wait to return and be silky smooth once again! more

My hair dresser James, just recently put color, highlights, cut, and style... HUGE IMPROVEMENT! Not to mention, the atmosphere is very personable. Though these procedures may take some time, I didn't feel any anticipation in speeding up the process. James made my stay comfortable, and i enjoyed the interaction he held in conversation =) all in all, i highly recommend Ankh Studio because i have not been disappointed at all with my results. I have fine, curly, frizzy hair- yet i was able to get a great look in the end. Smooth, beautiful color, healthy, feels great, bounces the way it should. very satisfied! more

My first time at this studio was on tuesday (7/28/09), and I was a bit scarred because I was trusting my hair to someone I hadn't seen in almost three years. Well, I worried for nothing! Nina has great experience, she's uber friendly. All the other girls were pleasant too. They even offered to get McD's lol The owner is down to earth (in my opinion), very chill and she's cool =) I enjoyed my experience to the fullest extent. My hair usually suffers a lot of damage after going through the bleaching process. but this time it didnt! And I've been getting compliments on my hair cut and color from every girl I meet. I will FOR SURE make Ankh Studio and Nina my official Go To's for hair styling =) One thing though (there always has to be a but), I'm a fulltime student working a part time job so for me it's a big expense getting my hair done every three weeks... It would be nice to see Student Discounts or something, I'm sure the studio would get much more business and be more appealing, seeing as Pierce College is right around the corner... =) Pros: everything more

If I had another way to reach you, Anikaa, I would have phoned you to see what we could do to make things right for you. Sivan is a great hairdresser, albiet new on the floor as a stylist. She is young and not as experienced, but I have never had anyone say she is not professional or unfriendly. We have gone back through her books to see who you may be, as she hasn't had too many walk in clients yet and just when we thought we might have figured it out, that client (who we thought may be you) came back in to get her hair done again, very happy with her results from the previous time. We don't have a receptionist (everyone books thier own appointments), so it must have been me who greeted you, although my memory is not serving me as to who you are. So, please, contact me. We have been in business for 15 years and have a very good reputation. I will gladly take care of you personally in any way I can to gain your faith in us again. I am truly sorry if you had a bad experience and all I can do is my best to try to make it right for you.....please call me... more

These guys that work in this studio are as PRO as you can get, they can do hair like no other! they are amazing wit hstyling, cutting coloring,ect. one the the valleys best ever. When you are ready try them out you will not go wronge, I asked one of their stylist why they are not working for the movies & his answer was amazing! he said "" I do not wanna lose my creative edge"" it meas he does not wanna do the same thing day after day. Very artistic very funny. & the atmosphere was great!! Pros: everything was AMAZING!! the staff is GREAT! & the talents are even better!! more
