Best Vets ever! Dr. Keil and his staff are awesome! I used to work there, and yes they are very busy. That says something. If you want a hospital with floors you can eat off of (white glove test) then go to one of those fancy, high-tech 8-doctor (super expensive) hospitals where the Vet Techs are busy cleaning the hospital all day because they rarely have any business. What's more important, good care by a great Vet or a clean floor? I moved 3 hours away yet I make the drive to Erdman, as I wouldn't trust my pets' lives to anyone else. more

Excellent\r At the beginning I was scared because of the facilities. But I went because my dog needed a femoral head ostectomy and everywhere I looked (even in the vet schools) they were charging me with $2,000. Some friends told me that here the price is afordable. I went without appointment with the xrays of my puppy, and the vet looked at them and said the same diagnostic. They charged me with $967.00 LESS THAN THE HALF!!! The surgery was scheduled for the day after I payed the deposit. My dog is doing awesome, when I went to pick her she was in a very clean cage and they treat her very carefully. The incision has completely healed and she is using that leg again. more

I've been taking my dogs to EAH for years now and they are wonderful. \r \r On one occassion my Yorkie had to stay overnight and the staff arrived back in the office very early in the morning to check on her. They (the doctor and front office staff) were genuinely concerned about her well-being. \r \r My yorkie (Chanel) made a full recovery because of the competent and caring staff at EAH. more

I currently work at the animal hospital, our hospital is extremely busy, we do not take appointments. We have a great kennel staff at this point in time, Our lack of taking appointments is a set back for clients to have to wait. Yet our doctors, prices and techs are incredible. Previous employees that comment on here should not be judged because they probably got fired. To the gentleman that had there dog on pred, every dr. there will tell you the affects pred has on dogs, i'm sorry for your dog passing, however it is not the dr.s fault. For people who are dropping dogs off for boarding or to pick up meds should come between the hours of 12-3 when we are not seeing clients. more

Boarding 4/17/2012

Do not board your animals here. They neglect them. I'm a previous employee. No one shows up on time, employees call out. The animals are left in little cages for 12+ hours at a time and sometimes forgotten about. They don't care about the animals. more

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!! 2/8/2012

Dr. Anis had been seeing my lab for over 11 years and in June of 2010, he became VERY ill and was rushed to the Pet ER. After being there for four days, I was advised that the Pedizone that was prescribed for Baille's skin condition destroyed his liver and was affecting his overall health. The Pedizone was prescribed to Baille for YEARS! Dr. Anis NEVER once advised me of the health conditions of being on this medication would cause. \r \r After the Pet ER, Baille was seen at another Vet Practice in Baltimore where we were able to make him comfortable. YES, I saved $ by going to Erdman but in the long run the trips to the Pet ER and another vet cost me well OVER $5,000.\r \r Baille crossed the Rainbow Bridge in August 2011 due to issues with his liver. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra money now to get your pet seen by a Vet who cares and not one who is only concerned about moving you in and out as quickly as possibe. :( more

Dirty, Dirty, Dirty 8/18/2011

I think my headline says it all. The only good thing is the fact that it is open 7 days a week, however, beware!! Anyone that has boarded their pet there will tell you that the services are not good. Many of the employees are not trained properly in customer services or pet issues. I am not surprised at the comment of Josietwo. They think just because their prices are cheap, that you should expect below average care!!! I will never take my pets there again!! The vet I saw was not at all experienced with my breed (common breed). I will continue to go to my regular vet and shame on my for considering this vet. more

Never Again! poor customer service. 8/9/2011

First impression means a lot! I had to wait over an hour, in the dirty waiting area, just to drop off my 7 month old Golden Retriever for boarding for one week. After paying the bill, I ask for his tags (name tag, rabies and microchip tags), collar, harness and leash. The staff informs me that the items where mis place and they would call me when found. I waited for three days did not hear from Erdman Animal Hospital, so I called and spoke to the manager she inform me that they were not responsible for the lost items because it is their policy to give the dog tags and collar to the owner during drop off. I inform the manager that the policy was not follow, so I needed my dog things back. The manager stated "" that their vets were very good and they charge low fees and were not in business to make money"", therefore they could not give me any thing for my lost. I was P...ed because I was a new customer and my business did not mean anything to them. I wish I would have taken them to court but, the claim would have been to small. I will never go their again. more

Cropping Ears & Docking Tails 9/20/2010

Looking for someone who has used Erdman's services for getting their dog's ears cropped and / or tail docked. Looking for your opinion about the services. Thinking about taking my dog. Thanks more

The ABSOLUTE BEST! 8/26/2010

Erdman Animal Hospital has done more to save the lives of animals than any animal hospital in Baltimore. They keep their prices low so that people without the means to spend big dollars for pet care can keep their pet healthy. I know of no other hospital that can claim that. I also have dealt with Dr. Keil for many years and he is a terrific vet. Most recently, I dealt with Dr. Youseff and I was amazed at his thoroughness, his compassion, and his skills. Unfortunately for me, he couldn't help my cat survive FIP, but he tried everything possible. Then--when I could not stand to see her suffer--he came in on his day off to (1) confirm in his own mind that nothing else could be done; and (2) once confirmed, humanely euthanize my beloved Chilly. I just think that is such a commendable thing to do, and I can't thank him and Erdman Avenue enough. They are the best. Maybe not the best neighborhood, but the best overall care and price. Dr. Keil and Erdman--thank you!!! more

great help when truly needed 5/8/2010

My female boston terrier had been in labor since 7.30 am on a saturday morning and needed a c-section operation and they were the best price around the county! not only did they have a great price but awsome help for my dog. I was in need of help and they let me put down a small deposit for the operation and they asked all the rite questions. other than a small location the service is great and great help from all people working there! great job guys! Pros: lots of great help in emergency Cons: small location more

Awesome animal care!!! 4/27/2010

Erdman animal is an awesome clinic, I've been taking my animals there for years. The doctors and nurses are very friendly and obviously love animals. However, it is located at the not-so-great corner of Belair Rd and Erdman Ave. The parking is pretty minimal and the walk-in type service makes it diffiicult to be in and out. It's always crowded but I guess that's a good thing, for them anyway. I give the place 5 stars for overall service and a half a star for accessibility. Pros: Knowledgeable vets and caring people Cons: The area...not so great more

Good for Vet services. The worst for boarding!!!!! 2/2/2010

I would recommend them for preventative care such as shots and such because of their low rates. I have yet to use them for emergency care, so i can't speak on that. I would definitely NOT recommend using them for boarding services. Although they were 50% cheaper than most places, the quality of services was extremely poor! Like the above poster, my dog was clean and well-groomed when I dropped him off. Two days later, he was filthy and smelled like urine and feces. When they brought him out, he was wet and shivering. He also looked like his hair had been cut. I had to bathe and brush him immediately when I got him home! In addition to that, he normally eats 2 cups of food per sitting. When he came home, he ate 3 cups and drank 48 ounces of water. Luckily, he reverted back to his normal self after the bath and feeding or I would have definitely been back the next day to complain. There record keeping is poor as well. They could not find records of his first visit there when I brought him in, yet I had called them a few weeks earlier to find out when he was due for his shots. What happened to his file within a matter of weeks is beyond me. If you're looking for a place to get shots and preventative care for your pet, then they are the place to go. If you need short term boarding for your pet, PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE! Pros: Low prices, Good vets Cons: filthy kennels, long wait, bad record keeping. more

i recomend this place to all! 3/31/2009

I took my older dog whom I adopted here Mr.Murphey and he had a swollen face because of bad teeth, the vet great! told me not to waste my money on dog toothpaste to clean my dogs teeth and to just give him a juicy steak with the bone so he could clean his own teeth, and he loved it! i made them aware of my budget and the let me pay for what i could afford. I am a young lady with limited means and i didnt feel pressured to buy anything but what i wanted too. very understanding vets. The man was kind to my dog and very nice to me and my family we will be going back, my advice to everyone dont let the niehborhood scare you away like it almost did us! my dog is agressive with other dogs and i was called in by a vet tech from my car! and we went in threw the side door! the whole appointment took 10 mins! EXCELLENT! HIGHLY RECOMENDED TO ALL! Pros: cheapest i have found in baltimore city and county Cons: the niehborhood , and the seating availability (not enough) more

stuck up vets 2/17/2009

The place is a joke tried to make a deposit for my dog for a minor operation and they dont take credit cards for first time vists you have to come in person then make a appt. they need to get with the new age of computers and move out of the bad area and spend the money they make for parking instead on erdman ave I had bad vibes about even taking my gold fish there.it is what it is. Pros: only in walking distant Cons: to many to write more

Good Veterinarians Poor Management Low Fee 2/11/2009

Well I have a very mixed feeling about this hospital. First the positives - Its very cheap in comparison to other hospitals. Vets here know what they are doing. You do not feel that they are there just to make money by patting your pets. I have visited the hospital couple of times now and I feel very comfortable bringing my dogs here. Most of the time there are two young lady vets. Both of them are caring and knowledgeable. I disagree with anyone who finds a fault with veterinarians here. They give extraordinary care in exchange of very low fee. Last time i took my dog to one of those young vets, who appeared to be Asian or Latin American, and she really could connect with my dog. She has the knowledge and the skills you want in your veterinarian. She was very good listener and diagnosed my dog very well. Most impressive was that she was very careful for not making my pet care expensive. And other vet , (short one) is very good as well. I have seen personally some very rude owner who lack communication skill altogether, coming to this hospital and just making noise over small issues. This, no matter how good veterinarians are, creates a bad working environment for the vets and the staff. Here I will bring the negative side of the hospital. This hospital does not have enough staff for a walk in hospital. You need staff to keep the hospital clean. You need more veterinarians for the type of crowd i see at the hospital. \r So in summary I will say its not the quality of the veterinarians but the number of vets that leads to frustrating waiting period (almost every time I have been there). Its like back home (a small European town, where i come from), where we had only one hospital and we had to wait for hours, but in the end veterinarian was good and caring. Pros: Veterinarians and Fee Cons: Management and sometimes bad clients more

Terrible Boarding Experience 11/29/2008

We took our happy, healthy 18 mos old rottweiler to Erdman's for boarding over Thanksgiving. When he got there he was his usual charming self licking the office staff and stopping at each to be pet. His coat was lustrous, his eyes shining and his demeanor confident. When we picked him up he rushed to get out of their, his ears were down, his coat was filthy, his eyes were sullen, he had two hotspots on his bum, and he looked weak. We took him outside to go to the bathroom and it was like he had been holding it for days. He was dehydrated, exhausted and sick. After we took him home he drank a lot of water and spent the rest of the last day and a half resting. He has been feeling so bad that he doesn't even lift up his head when we enter the room, whereas usually he jumps up. He hasn't touched his food, so we are giving him rice and chicken until he feels better. Whenever we have boarded him in the past, he is always happy to come home, but he has never been treated so badly.\r Needless to say we are absolutely livid about the way our dog was treated, he was completely neglected and now he is sick. Never go there, it is not worth the cheap prices- you get what you pay for! Cons: Staff neglected my dog for 3 days, he entered healthy and came home sick! more

Great Care is Worth the Wait 7/2/2008

After reading the previous review, I just had to add my two cents. I have taken my animals to this facility for over 20 years. I have moved from Baltimore to Pasadena, Towson and then Severna Park. Each time I have tried out a local vet and each time I was disappointed. Now, I just make the drive back to the doctors at Erdman Animal Hospital. About 7 years ago, my male cat had a life threatening serious urinary tract infection. The Pasadena vet wanted $2000 to take care of him and try to save his life, but obviously could not guarantee it. I took my cat back to Dr. Keil and Dr. Anise. They did everything the other vet proposed and after two days in the hospital, my cat sadly passed away. Hospital treatment, plus private cremation cost me under $200. This happened on Christmas Eve. The doctors kept the cat's body and gave our family time to come say goodbye. They had him wrapped in a flannel blanket and he looked peaceful. As traumatic as that was, it was the kindest way for my children to experience the loss of their cat. Just a month ago our kitten contracted FIP. The local vet we consulted ran a test and wanted us to take her to a neurologist. Dr, Keil gave our kitten a much more thorough examination, ran tests the other vet failed to run and helped us get the information we needed to make a very difficult decision. Unfortunately FIP is terminal and our kitten was suffering, so we had to have her euthanized. Again, the event was handled professionally and with compassion. We even received a personal sympathy card from the doctor. My other cats lived to be 18 and 19 years old, thanks to the excellent care they received. Now we have a new puppy and he is receiving the same good care we always get when we go to the vet.\r I have tried other vets recommended by friends, but I know better than to bother to take my animals anywhere else. Yes, there is often a long wait at Erdman Animal Hospital, but the affordable good quality care we receive is well worth it. Pros: Excellent quality care at an affordable price Cons: Long wait more

Animal Hospital 3/19/2008

This facility is not the fanciest Veterinary you will ever go to but they usually do a great job and their cost cannot be beat. I have taken my dog there ever since I have had him and I have not had any complaints ... until recently. \r Usually a gentleman looks at my dog for all his visits and this gentleman is excellent! \r But yesterday I had a small built lady, whom I've never seen before, look at my dog and give him his annual shots and check up.\r I have never been so upset. She didn't even great my dog or let him smell her when she came into the office. When she saw my dog she said ""oh"" and looked terrified.\r My non aggressive dog winced on the 2 injections she gave him- something he has never done.\r She stood as far away from my dog as humanly possible on all occasions, thus not doing her job or giving the injections as well as she could if she got close to my dog like vets usually do. \r When giving the medication that goes up the dog?s nose, she had to mussel my dog and gets 2 assistants in to man handle my dog and she still struggled to give the medicine.\r My dog that has never been a problem at the vet when the gentleman has seen him and I will not allow that lady to come near my dog ever again.\r She has made my life harder after this incident, as a dog that only had good vet experiences will now not be the same the next time I have to take him to the vet based on this last experience. Pros: Good prices, gentleman vet is great, staff are wonderful. Cons: Usually a good waiting line, not the fanciest place, be wary of any new inexperiencest vets - may not be as good as the vets who have been there for years. more
