I brought my beloved chihuahua in to Animerge early Tuesday after I found her unresponsive on the floor when I woke up in the morning. I'd never been there before, but I'd taken ...

I recently brought my 14 year old cat in for an emergency visit over Thanksgiving. \r New to the area, the local recommended vet was off for the holiday.\r My cat was diagnosed ...

animerge Great! 11/22/2007

my pet was in a life threatening situation so I had brought it to animerge. Someone was there to help me immediately. The technical staff took my pet to the veterinarian right away for help. The staff's experience and immediate response to my pets illness may have saved it's life. more

Animerge utter rubbish as an emergency facility 11/14/2007

just recently I had the unfortunate necessity to need an emergency hospital for my pet. One of the vets I have used in the past and have a very high respect for is a stakeholder for Animerge, so I felt confident that the service and treatment would be top notch....It was't and not by a long way...\r \r My past animal emergency experience has been; I was greeted upon arrive and escorted into an examination room, with in minutes a vet was examining my pet and assistants were taking information and asking for a payment. once the pet was evaluated / diagnosed additional treatments were provided or recommended at a later time. this was my expectation as I arrived at Animerge....Not so at Animerge\r \r stepping into Animerge was like walking into a low end vets office. 5-7 minutes filling out paper work, 21-27 minute wait to get into a examination room, once in the room the vet tech was fumbling around and took another 5-7 minutes, then left, 10-15 minutes later the vet showed up...by that ti more

Very helpful and reliable 10/21/2007

My dog cut his paw in Pennsylvania on a Saturday so we had to bandage him up there. Then we drove him here and waited about an hour because there were other animals who needed attention too. Once we got called, the vet and the vet technition looked him over and gave us a low - high estimate of where the price would fall. We left our dog with them and a few hours later got a call to pick him up. When we got there they had a report printed out of what happened and they had already sent it to our vet's office. I thought that was very professional and it showed how organized they are. \r I understand why some people are mad that there is an automatic fee of about $110 just for bringing an animal there, but I would gladly pay that to get relatively immediate help for my pet than wait for my vet's office to open on Monday. more

My cat died twice 9/13/2007

I brought my beloved cat to Animerge and unfortunately she had to be put to sleep do to renal failure. She was kept overnight and the next day we had our appointment. Upon arrival I was greeted by reception and then by an assistant who happily asked if I was there to pick up my cat. Clearly they should have some sort of sensitivity training. \r I had to ask that we complete paperwork and pay for our bill prior to putting her down. My husband filled out an individual Crematory Request so that we could have her remains buried with our own one day. He was told that they would be available within one to two weeks. \r After three weeks I inquired about her remains and was told a week later that there had been a mix up . They took the blame and apologized because my cat had been put with the general cremations by the receptionist. I was offered an explanation of "maybe the staff was tired" "she was a young cat, it's rare they come in with an incurable disease" "We'd like to offer you a more

Terrible, Unprofessional Animerge Raritan NJ 7/29/2007

My dog was sprayed in his face by a skunk at 11:30 pm. I called Animerge because the spray was in the dogs eyes and he was rubbing his face in the grass. I was very upset that he could go blind or get an infection. The person that answered the phone didn't know what to do. She told me to hold on, after several minutes a tech. came on the phone. I said I was concerned about the dogs eyes. She told me to bring him in. I live an hour from Raritan I explained to her, would she just tell me what to do to sooth the dogs eyes. She told me to hold on and THEN HUNG UP ON ME! I found the. info I needed on the web to sooth his eyes. more

Animerge Raritan NJ 4/19/2007

I have had an occasional visit to Animerge and although the vets are satisfactory, I do not think they are worth the prices they charge. I think the other vets in the area should be ashamed of themselves. Pet owners are loyal to them all year long and then they are not available when you really need them. To be financially raped to boot is an insult. Animerge always wants to do way more than what is required to treat the problem at hand and often the regular vet has to repeat the same tests the next day incurring even more financial damage. If Animerge needs finances to stay in business, then they should stay open during the day and/or board to sustain themselves. It should not be the publics responsibility. They truly pray on your emotions when you walk in the door. more

They got ya by the wallet and they know it! 4/28/2006

My cat was sick with a urinary issue - Vet closed. I went to Animerge because I didn't want to risk him not being treated until morning. We called ahead and were told that they could not advise us over the phone, we'd have to come in. They further said that "Walking in" incurrs a $110.00 charge before the pet is even seen. We arrived and there was 1 pet being seen ahead of us. We waited. They finished with that pet in about 45 minutes. We still waited. Someone finally emerged from the back and put us in an exam room, examed the cat and left. We waited. A doctor came in. examed the cat. Yup. Urinary problem. OK. Well, they have to keep the cat overnight and handed me an "estimate" of between $730 and $810 - and they want 80% up front! OUCH! Talk about having you over a barrel!! In their behalf, the people are polite and seem to care about the animals. Just make sure you have a small fortune in the cookie jar in-case you ever have to go there. PROS: People seem genuine more

Crooks 11/13/2005

This place knows that when you come to them you have no other choice. If your pet gets sick after normal vet hours, you have to come here. They overcharge ridculously and make you pay before they will even talk to you. They charged me over $300 for my ferret and did not even help. The end conclusion was that they did not know what to do with him and told me to take him to my vet the next day. more

Animerge 10/22/2005

I brought my dog here in an emergency situation and felt that she was well cared for. The staff seems compassionate about helping animals and they see patients with more urgent cases taking priority. I did feel I was overcharged, as did my vet, but in an emergency, you don't have many options. In this way, I do think Animerge tends to take advantage of their patients' owners' vulnerability. However, they provide a highly necessary service when all vets offices are closed. The one kind of scary policy they have is that if you are not on time to pick your dog up before a certain in the morning (usually for transport to your pet's usual vet), the hospital will lock your dog inside all alone and unattended until the night time when the doctors and nurses return. I was on time, but the penalty for being late seemed very horrible! more

place for emergencies for animals 9/30/2005

This is an emergency room for pets. They are open at night and weekends. I used them when my dog was attacked by a pit bull and needed help at 10pm. The Vet was the fantastic. They were very thoughtful and thorough and really great all around. Its about $100 to walk in the door. They were great and if you ever are in an emergency with your pet go there. PROS: Open when your vet isn't CONS: Price more
