Very good Doctors and very friendly staff. Waited a long time, but it is an emergency room and I'm just very glad that my baby was stable. I was approached several times by the front desk ladies to see if my pet was doing ok and also if I was. Very busy place, organized well. Good to know they are close and I saw how they hustle when an animal needs urgent care. I was very pleased. more

Your Pet deserves Better\r \r Our 13 year old cat appeared to have nasal issues when we came home on a Sat and since it was after 5pm and our vet was closed we took our pet to Animerge. She was examined and a chest xray was taken and we were told it was a respiratory issue and a plan that would require up to three days at their facility. First thing on Moday afer paying close to $1200 dollars.. we took her to our Vet and as soon as she was examined... our Vet noticed a broken tooth and some gum issues... When they put her under for the broken tooth they took tissue and it came back cancer. How can our vet within a few minutes come up with proper cause while Annimerge had her for over 36 hours and if we did not take her.. they would of continue treatiing her with a respiratory problem... These people are not cheap and while I have no issue with the cost but I expect a proper diagnosis at those prices.. When I emailed Dr Dean regarding what occured.. He never had the courtesy to response...\r more

I brought my beloved chihuahua in to Animerge early Tuesday after I found her unresponsive on the floor when I woke up in the morning. I'd never been there before, but I'd taken note of the place when driving by in the event of an emergency such as this.\r \r The care she and I both received was outstanding. When I brought her in, she was moments from death. The doctors didn't give up on her...they saved her life and were able to successfully diagnose her with a rare disease that, from what I've read, is often overlooked. They took the time to explain everything to me and kept in contact every step of the way.\r \r My sincerest gratitude goes out to the doctors (especially Dr. Freeman), the nurses and the rest of the staff at Animerge...they truly saved my precious girl's life. more

Thank God for Animerge!! 12/28/2011

I have a little shih-tzu named PJ. She was first diagnosed with Adrenal Cancer on June 3, 2008. Her Doctor referred me to Animerge for a consultation. I met with Dr. Collins and she was wonderful!!! I was terrified about my baby's condition and what would happen to her. Dr. Collins explained everything to me in great detail and spent alot of time with PJ and I and put us at ease. PJ had her Adrenalectomy on June 18. 2008. The entire Animerge staff was so wonderful. PJ and I went back to Animerge for 2 years for PJ's cancer screenings. Then on June 14, 2010 we found out that PJ's cancer was back. We were devistated. Dr. Collins performed an exploritory surgery, but PJ's tumor could not be removed. Dr.Collins has never given up on PJ and she is always comming up with new ideas of how to make PJ's life better. That was 1 1/2 years ago. Thanks to the skill, dedication and love of the entire Animerge staff, PJ is still with me and enjoying life. I know that Dr. Collins and th more

compassionate, urgent 8/30/2011

I called during hurricane Irene. My cat was breathing shallow and rapid for 10 hours. As soon as we walked in, the doctor whisked him away. He died as soon as he was out of the carrier. The doctor offered cpr, but I did not give permission. She tried oxygen and verified that he had passed. She was compassionate and concerned for my young son. She put my cat in a burial box and I left. Professional, caring, and considerate. God bless them more

STAY AWAY FROM ANIMERGE 4/28/2011

This facility is a nightmare, literally, from beginning to end. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. They are rude, nasty and uncaring. Their one and only concern is money and not you or your pet. Of course, businesses are there to make money but they are supposed to at least pretend they care about your pet while they are doing it. more

How that vet sleeps at night is beyond me! 3/27/2011

How they sleep at night it beyond me!!!!! I took my 12 week old yellow lab named Peyton there today. He had eaten a bone and part of the bone was stuck in the dogs rectum. He was in great distress. The girls at the front desk were so nice. However just to say hi cost $126.00 Ok I was fine with that. They told me they weren't sure how much it was going to cost and that payment was to be made up front. They took the dog into the back where the Dr. looked at him. The girls came back and told me he would need X-Rays and to be sedated. They said it would cost at least $1000.00. I explained that I didn't have the $ and could make payments. They told me they would not except payments. How that Dr. can look at a puppy see how much pain he is in and not do a damn thing is beyond me. Yet you can go to jail for beating a dog. I took my puppy up the road to Red Bank vet and they didn't even want to talk about money getting the dog out of distress was most important to them. They removed the bone a more

bad experience with Animerge 1/29/2011

Do not go to Animerge, go elsewhere.\r Take your money to any other place, do not go to Animerge. I took my AKC-registered Boxer there, because she has delivered 4 puppies and could not go any longer. We waited for 1:45 min for Cesarean, but the time it was done all puppies died and her uterus needed to be removed as well. And they charged me close to $3000! more

I am forever grateful to Dr. Freeman and Animerge for saving my cockatiel. I had my birds in their cages in the backyard under trees, and a hawk attacked my cockatiel. This happened on a Friday afternoon when the area avian vets had all closed for the weekend, so I found Animerge thru the phonebook. The Techs, the Receptionist, and Dr. Freeman were all very professional. I was greeted, my bird was immediately attended to, and I was updated constantly on his condition. He required surgery to suture holes under both wings, and had tremendous head injuries, but Dr. Freeman and Staff knew how to handle him. I feel that I got the best treatment available ANYWHERE. Dr. F. even consulted an avian vet/friend to be sure that she covered everything. Yes, it was expensive, but all fees were discussed upfront. And for those of you who whine re: cost, please remember that you have taken your pet to an EMERGENCY facility, and that these folks are working 24/7. That fact is worth every penn more

made us feel our cat was the most important 8/23/2010

We walked in with our cat who was in physical distress from a pregnancy that had complications. They made us feel that we were the most important people in the world and they were taking care of the most important cat. It was expensive but the care we received was worth it. The doctors let me go in the exam room with our cat to help her tension and anxiety. Once we left, the doctor called us several times to update us of her condition before and after surgery. Would use again more

Animerge is a fantastic (& expensive) alternative when your vet is closed. 6/24/2009

Yes, Animerge is incredibly expensive- but I would recommend them if you're in a pinch and your pet needs serious medical attention.\r \r We adopted a boxer lab puppy last week and after only a couple days at home, we realized her cough was pretty serious and she needed medical attention. Our vet was fully booked and recommended Animerge, so we took her there. \r \r We were devastated when we found out she had pnemonia, but the vet (Dr. Guy) was incredibly understanding and caring for us. She showed us her x-rays, explained exactly what was wrong with her, and the course of care she needed. We couldn't be more pleased with the level of care, attention, and service she received. \r \r Yes, their care is incredibly expensive, but they are a full hospital. Where else are you going to go where there is a vet and staff of nurses and vet techs on site 24/7? If your pet isn't super sick, wait and take them to your regular vet. But if they need immediate attention, I would recommend Animerge more

THEY ARE GOOD 1/14/2009

OK for all of you complaining about money issues well let me tell you. YOUR PET IS SICK DOES MONEY REALLY MATTER!!!. YES ITS EXENSIVE FOR EMERGENCY. sorry had to get that off my back but think about when anyone you know is sick does the price really matter? As long as they can cure them and take care of them and live the price is worth it. If your pet isnt really suffering or sick then dont go here you will have a bad review. IF your pet is really sick and needs HELP ASAP then go here and your review will be great and the price does suk but just keep in mind its another day with your pet when its all done and said. The staff and doctors are all great i like to thank them for keeping my dog alive. She is healthy as horse and i hope she doesnt get that sick again. more

animerge 12/24/2008

Reading many of the reviews in this category have made me concerned about the severe lack of knowledge and respect of todays common person. I am an emergency veterinarian, although I am not affiliated with Animerge. Let me address a few issues. \r Cost: do any of you know what it takes to run an emergency clinic? To have the equipment to diagnose your pet any time, to keep it staffed 24/7? I bet most of you wouldn't choose to work overnight and wouldn't be willing to work for free! No one holds a gun to your head making you go there. If you dont want to spend any money on your pet's health care, then either dont have a pet or get insurance for your pet.\r Waiting: It is an emergency room as well as a hospital. Your pet is not the only animal there. If it is in a life threatening situation, the doctor will see it right away. From my experience, most emergencies are not life threatening. The doctor on duty has a lot of other responsibilities which may mean that you have to wait more

Animerge kills your pet to make money. 12/2/2008

Coming from previous employees that I know of they all have said individually that Animerge will diagnose a pet with an illness of any sort and push the owner to consider beuthanasia and I believe this. I have had over 6 dogs these past few years (I rescue) and everytime I have brought my pet there for something simple, the "thought" of putting the pet down was brought up. The one time I brought in a puppy with Kennel cough and the Dr asked if we were attached because she said best bet was to put her to sleep. Mind you that was 10 years ago and I still have this puppy who is healthy and full of life. She would have been put down over a sickness that was treatable. THEY MAKE MONEY OFF OF THESE PETS!!! Take your dog to your normal vet or find another hospital! And the staff is RUDE. more

Wrong diagnosis 9/23/2008

I took my cat to Animerge over the weekend due to the fact that my normal vet. was not open.\r \r Upon walking in, they immediately took my cat away and I waited to meet with the vet. When he came in, he told me that my cat was suffering from asthma. He told me this without even giving me a chance to tell him what had been happening over the weekend and breathing difficulty wasn't even one of the problems. I left my cat there for observation for 6 hours and upon picking him up was given the same diagnosis which in my heart I knew was wrong. He was discharged with steroids (pills) and some other med. for asthma (also pills). Problem is, the biggest issue was that my cat couldn't swallow and hadn't eaten or drank water for days. I kept telling the doctor that something was wrong with his throat. My cat was never given fluids and the vet. never even acknowledged the fact that he couldn't eat. I was told to give him the pills and it WAS NOT necessary for me to see my regular vet. and that, more

RE: Crooks 1/26/2008

Regarding your ferret and the care it received at Animerge. The staff at Animerge does ask what is wrong with your pet when your call is received, and often will check with the current doctor to be sure they are comfortable if it is NOT a dog or cat, before advising you to bring your pet into the the hospital. Even if the doctor on staff at that moment sees ferrets, the receptionists have always advised me that they do not have an exotics specialist on staff and are not able to do complete diagnostics on my ferrets or bird. They have advised me that they can do supportive care and some outpatient care, but they never present themselves as ferret experts, and in fact, have given me the names of several reputable veterinarians with more experience in ferrets, Much like the other individual refuting your claim, I have always been quoted the price even when I tell them I have been there before. I have even been told over the phone when there has been a price increase. When my pets have more

Corrections. 1/7/2008

Adding a correction to the "Crooks" review. NO they do not charge you before they even talk to you. You are seen, your pet is treated and then a doctor goes over the price with you before you pay and then leave. Get your facts straight before you open your mouth about them.\r \r To the people who complain about the consultation fee, you are aware of the fee before you even walk in the door. When you call, the receptionist advises you of the charge. YOU are the one who makes the decsicion and walks through the door. Don't blame Animerge for their price. I bet an object worth $120 dollars is no sweat off your back when it comes to buying it, but paying for your pet to be treated is. If you feel that way, GET RID OF YOUR PET so it can be in a home where they are cared for regardless of the cost.\r \r As for the tech's being young, yes some of them are. As for them having a degree in what they do, yes they also have that. Do you? NO. So whoever is seeing your pet obviously knows more than you more

RX &Follow-up info requested. Response: Go follow-up with regular Vet 11/27/2007

I recently brought my 14 year old cat in for an emergency visit over Thanksgiving. \r New to the area, the local recommended vet was off for the holiday.\r My cat was diagnosed with Azotemia( kidney disease) and was dehydrated from not eating for a few days. He also suffers from herpes which generates an upper respiratory condition during times of stress and can last more than a week.\r I received a low/high statement of his treatment plan based on a min.3 day stay up to a week. It was recommended that I begin changing his diet right away once he's resumed normal activities and was released from the hospital. I was told there were many good low protein, low reside cat foods available via RX. I asked if I would be supplied with the RX and told I'd get RX and all that information when he was released. \r I was contacted 24 hours later and told he no longer needed to be in the hospital, I could pick him up and that he was eating fine the very next day. I was given notes and x-ray to bring more
