Animal Medical Center in Orland Park is really good. Their Doctors really care about your pet and take the time to explain what is going on. They have always answered all my questions. We have been going there with all our pets for over 10 years and we are very happy. We wouldnt take our pets anywhere else. more

VERY RUDE STAFF! 10/11/2011

I have to say when I went to Animal Medical Center the doctors were great but one of the girls we had to deal with at the front desk was horrible! Me and my husband recently brought our dog there and right as we got there we were ignored like we were not even there. There was one girl who was taking care of us that not only was rude but made us feel very uncomfortable. She made it seem like we were a bother to her the whole time and she had something better to do. After seeing the doctor we had noticed something was wrong with our prescriptions. We asked her if she could ask the doctor and she replied "They are too busy" We then told her that something was wrong with prescription and she rudely grabbed them briefly looked and said they were fine. We had told her we knew they were not and her response was "Yes they are. I know what I'm doing. I've been here over 10 years." Finally I said I wasn't leaving until I was completely sure. She rolled her eyes, walked away, and we had someone el more

Snotty but good prices. 9/23/2009

I'd have to agree that every person I've ever talked to has been short and snobby. I've only used them for boarding because they're the only place that has outdoor runs and has great prices. But they need an attitude check. more

THIS PLACE SUCKS!!! 7/30/2008

All the staff is garbage with an exception of Dr Porcelli and a couple other receptionists. They are all snotty and very rude. They act as though they are above you when in actuality we the clients are paying your bills. Think about taking your pet here before going. more

Great Care 5/31/2008

I really don't care what these other "negative" reviews say. I know these Vets and I know the staff. I've been using them for over 20 years. If things were as bad as they say in some of these other reviews (which are most likely written by employees who were fired or by employess of other animal hospitals in the area) then I don't think they'd be in business. Take it from a long time customer who's been using them a long time and has taken 6 different pets here. This place is great!! The prices are great, the docs are great, and Dr. Lantow is a great owner and a great guy!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!!!! more

So Friendly and Caring 5/28/2008

I am a new client to this clinic. So far though I must say that I have been happy with the doctors and prices! At my first couple of visits the receptionists have been the only problem that I have encountered. Tipically i find them to be short and disconcerned. However I recently had such a pleasant experience with one of them that it by far compensated for the negative ones that I have had previously. My new pet is a puggle and she endulged that she too owns one and as a first time dog owner she assured me that my decision to purchase our new puggle was a good one. She was so patient and informative offering all the information i needed. She took more than a half hour to explain heartworm prevention and make a list of vaccines my dog would need and when they would be needed and how much they would cost. She even offered training tips that have been working out so far! I believe that without her it would have taken an aweful lot longer to get adjusted to one another and even longer for more

Best to Avoid... 12/27/2007

I would not recommend them after multiple questionable and negative experiences. You decide...\r \r 1. Diagnosed my pet as having a tooth infection and adminstered $90 of antibodics. After going back with a swollen throat again, they realized that there really was no infection - my dog was licking the salt ridden tires of my car in the garage! I was told to hang on to the antibodics just in case. In case of what?? Hmmm.\r \r 2. They took my pet away and into the back of the center to administer tests that are were never devulged nor discussed. This occurred multiple occassions and always before I get to see the doctor. For example, they decided to test for heart worm without even asking me, when in fact my pet was tested 4.5 months previously and was continually on Heartguard every month. I contacted the Heartguard folks and found out that this vet far exceeds the manufacturer's recommended testing schedule. It would be wise to ask clients if a non-manufacturer endorsed schedule more

Successful Adoption 8/29/2007

I just wanted to write a thank you to the staff of Animal Medical Center of Orland Park, IL. I live in the Washington, DC area and last year we lost our cat of 20 years to kidney disease. Our house was quite lonely without her; she and my daughter had literally grown up together. So, I decided I wanted to get my husband a new kitten for Father's Day. I had unsuccessfully made attempts to adopt a calico kitten from the DC area, but something always seemed to throw a monkey wrench into my plans. While visiting family in Illinois during June, they brought me along to Animal Medical Center on a visit for one of their dogs. It was fate! This is where I met our little Winnie. A calico...and up for adoption. The helpful staff explained that their adoption kittens came usually from clients who found them, and the clinic ran tests to ensure the adoption kittens were healthy and updated vaccinations before the kittens could be adopted. The adoption charge also included the cost for the more

A Very Caring Clinic 8/28/2007

I have been taking my pets to Animal Medical Center for over 5 years now. Last month I had to put down my 14 year old cat because of a year long struggle with cancer. This was the hardest decision and thing that I ever had to make and do. I loved my cat very much, she was an angel in my life and I miss her terribly. I wanted to thank the whole staff at Animal Medical Center for giving her such good care and love. It seemed that the whole hospital knew who my cat was and when they knew it was time they all came up to offer me support. I wanted to specially thank Dr. Handke for all the time and love she gave my cat, including many tests and surgeries to remove the cancer that kept coming back and to Tina the Office Manager that gave me great words and support throughout this whole experience. Thank you both for having such big heart. I would definitely recommend taking your pet to Animal Medical Center. Great staff that really cares. I would also like to comment on a review saying not a more

They killed my mothers dog! 6/27/2007

My mother's dog was attacked by 2 pit bulls that pulled her through a rod iron fence and tried to tear her apart. Animal Medical Center performed surgery on her and we thought she was getting better (that's what they said) they let us visit her on a daily basis, but then a week after the attack (she had stitches up one front leg, across the back of her neck and down the other leg) Animal medical center decided to take her iv out and when her condition started to decline they did not put her iv back in as they should have (according to another vet) but let her get an infection because they could not give her the antibiotics that she needed and she was on her death bed before the told my mom maybe she should take her to Arboretumview in Downers Grove, Il (becs there was nothing else they could do for her and admitted they made a very bad decision about taking the iv out) her condition was so bad there was nothing anyone could do for her and she died a horrible death. I can not stre more

A Place That Cares... 4/18/2007

First I just would like to disagree with the review placed on 3/11/07 "Watch for Hidden Charges". My experience with this vet clinic was very positive. The doctor who treated my dog was very caring and the staff overall seemed to genuinely love animals of all kinds. I am new to the area, however, when I called for pricing information, they told me clearly what to expect, and they did say that some services could only be quoted as an estimate. I have had animals all my life, and have been to many different vets; this one was far from being the worst. I have some cats as well, and the doctor and staff discussed health concerns for them even though I was there with my dog. They didn't come across as being incompetent or sneaky as described in the 3/11/07 review. Actually my impression was that they were honest, and cared about the pets as well as my checkbook...offering me options, coupons and discounts for multiple pets. I plan to continue taking all my pets there, and would hig more

Watch for Hidden Charges 3/11/2007

I recently brought my cats in for surgery after having a telephone consultation about services and costs. The Animal Medical Center did not divulge examinations and the charges associated with them, the vaccines were quoted much less, and the pain medication I was given had different doses on the label for the same cats. Overall it was a negative experience. I've been an animal owner for 35 years and never had this type of thing happen. I'd look elsewhere for services. more

Great vets 3/2/2006

We took our previous dog to this vet and they offer high quality care and really care about your pets. They are more expensive than some other vets in the area but worth it. When our dog had to be put to sleep they were so caring and wonderful to us and our dog. They even sent us a card a few days later, which really shows how much they care about these animals. more
