Compassionate 3/14/2013

Last summer my beloved boxer got sick on a Sunday afternoon. I got the phone book to find a vet that may see her. I found the ad that said the Dr's had emergency service. We got her to Dr Jay and Betsy as quickly as we could, but we were too late to save her. Dr Jay was prepping her for emergency surgery and even tried CPR to save her but it was too late. They were very compassionate and it was then that I could see how dedicated they were. A few days later we even received a sympathy card from them. Since then we have acquired another dog that had a lot of "lack of care" type problems. They have treated him a few times and do very well with him. My only complaint is price, but I'm sure its competitive with other vets. more

**BAD REVIEWS** 7/12/2012

In response to negative reviews...\r \r This practice used to be owned by Dr.Stansell. I tried his practice a few years ago when I first moved to Calhoun. The staff was rude and I was not allowed to go back with my dog. I had questions that I couldn't get answered because everything went through the receptionist and I NEVER even meet the doctor. I never went back because of this. Then I heard that Drs. Jay and Betsy had taken over the practice and after trying all the other horrible vets in town, I tired them out. They are GREAT! My first experience with them was my beloved dog being diagnosed with cancer. They gave him and us such TLC in a very devasting situation. They helped us give him very afordable treatments that helped us have some remaining months with him. When it came time to put him down they came to our home so that he would be more comfortable and surrounded with his family. I have also taken the rest of my animals to them for check ups, emergencies, and even boa more

top quality doctors! 7/11/2012

Dr. Betsy and Dr. Jay are the best. They are kind people who always listen to my concerns and make educated, accurate diagnoses. I feel they honestly have my pet's best interest in mind and give my pet the best treatment possible. I will without a doubt continue to see them for all my pet's needs. more

Love this place! 7/11/2012

All of my experiences with the doctors and staff at Animal Hospital of Gordon County have been wonderful. The Drs. Hendley are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and caring. I have had pets for a long time, have known several veterinarians, and have even worked in a vet clinic myself--but AHGC is definitely the place where I have felt the most comfortable leaving my animals. The staff is obviously comprised of animal lovers and I know my babies are always treated with the best everyone there has to offer. I also think that their prices are reasonable and comparable. Thank you, AHGC!! more

Gordon Co. is lucky to have them! 7/11/2012

My dog and I have been going to Drs. Jay and Betsy Hendley for years. I only wish that I lived closer now so they could treat my dog all the time. Everytime I take my dog to them, she is happy to be there, and she gets special treatment. It's nice to go to vets who are obviously animal lovers. They go above and beyond here to help my dog. I can't recommend this vet highly enough. more

2nd Review.....More to come!! 6/25/2012

Well, Well, well......Isn't it strange how someone could leave a review on here only to have it mysteriously dissappear?? In case some of you missed my review that is no longer here......I had an experience with mrs. betsy hendley in Dalton when she worked at an animal hospital there. (lower case name because she does not deserve capitals....) To make it short and sweet.....this person is a viper and has the heart of a king cobra!!!! She has no simpathy for your animal or you as well!! With her it is only about the money and your feelings and love for your animal don't mean squat to her!!! She will be nice to you.......as long as you shell out the cash. Try telling her one time that you don't have a job and can't afford the surgery (which by the way was unnecessary anyway) and see how kind she is then. Her suggestion for you will then be to simply put your pet down and she is willing to do it right then for you. (because it is fast and easy money) You can erase my reviews all you want more

Excellent Animal Hospital 5/26/2012

In my opinion Doctor Betsy and Jay Hendley are definitely the greatest veterinarians. They have provided excellent medical care and attention for my dog Sasha. Since I live over 90 miles away, and have access to many vets in my area, I believe there are no better qualified doctors to provide the professional caring medical attention for my loving dog. It is definitely worth the time and effort to travel so far to get the required medical attention for my pet. more

Under New Management 10/4/2011

We moved in 2009 and our vet was 3 1/2 hour drive from our new home. This summer when Amber, our toy poodle, fell it was obvious she needed immediate attention. I asked for a referral and was sent to the Animal Hospital of Gordon County. After a quick phone call we jumped in the car and rushed her in. more

The Hendleys are the best! 5/4/2011

We live in the Dalton area and our dog was in terrible shape on Sunday. She just went down hill very quickly from Saturday to Sunday. We called everywhere because we needed someone to come to our home to put her down since we could not transport her because she was in so much pain. We called everyone even our own vet who is in our area. Jay and Betsy Hendley were the only ones who took time out of their Sunday to come do this for us and our beloved pet. They were so caring and kind to do this for us even though we were not their clients. These two are the most precious people I know and what they did for us could never be matched. My husband and I have discussed bringing our other pet to them even though it would be a 30 minute drive because of how wonderful they are. Thank you both for the wonderful people and veterinarians that you both are. We are forever indebted to you both.\r Ronnie and Laurie more

Nice folks! You DO get what you pay for HERE!!! 4/28/2011

The new owners are really nice. We go to them because they are professional and are more current on modern veterinary methods which we find to be a plus- We are not necessarily looking for a vet that has a huge out-going personality, like the previous person that posted before me- We just want our animals to be well cared for and we feel like we are getting that from Dr's Betsy and Jay. I believe that the quality of the service has improved since they took over and that it can only get better. We are going to be long term customers- I feel like we will get what we pay for when we take our animals to this vet... more

new vets 3/3/2011

Although I like the new owners of Animal Hospital, I did notice that the Vet that I spoke with about Sushi's problem seem to agree with everything that I said and whatever I called the problem he called it that also. I just want his opinion about what is wrong with her and not repeat something that I have just stated. He seems to be concerned about the situation and I am going to give them a chance. I am not sure that I liked them coming in and changing the food without giving the animals a chance to adapt though this may be the way it should be done. I don't know that much about being a Vet though I have had a lot of dealings with them.As far as going back when they are working on the animals,I think we have to trust them to know what they are doing and not insist on going back if we are going to take them there. I think they do charge a little too much and a payment plan would be helpful. They have been very helpful to me as far as carrying my cat in and out for me as I have arthr more

Wouldn't take my fur babies anywhere else!! 3/2/2011

I have taken my animals to Animal Hospital of Gordon County for years. Although sometimes I've had to wait to pick up, speak to the vet, I have never complained because my animals were treated with love and respect, as was I. Dr. Stancell was loving and caring with my pets. When my corgi Ladybug died he called me crying. He was gentle and kind when my grandmother's 18 year old terrier passed away due to pneumonia. When one of my cats died the staff called to see how I was doing and even sent a card.\r Now that Jay and Betsy are owners I have experienced the same kind of love and care I received with Dr. S. The prices may be higher than in other places but I have always felt as if my pets were well treated and well cared for. Today as I take my doxie in for his annual exam and grooming I know I will receive the same type of care and love. I wouldn't consider taking my fur babies anywhere else. more

Quality People...Quality Care 1/8/2011

I met with Dr. Jay today, one of the new owners. I was thoroughly impressed with his love for animals, humility, integrity, and his desire to serve the community. I don't know what this vet hospital was like in the past, but this may be the best place in the county to take your pet. more

Wonderful new vets! 12/21/2010

I have used the Animal Hospital of Gordon County for years, and have always been satisfied with the way my dogs have been treated, but the change in ownership is a nice change from how things used to be. The new Drs. Hendley are very personable and seem to truely care about the animals and the owners (and their budget). They saw me each time that I went in for a visit and spoke to me like I truely matter. They saw me and Spanky in a timely manner and are the most wonderful couple I have met in a long time. They have truely won me over!!! more

Very pleased! 12/21/2010

I haven't had experience with this particular location but I have had experience with Dr. Betsy Hendley and I don't have enough good things to say. I first took my lab mix (Moe) to see her when he was only a puppy. She was very attentive to both of us. A year later when he had an allergic reaction to something, she remembered him and played with him for a few minutes and discussed in detail with me how I should care for him at home. Even when I went by to pick up heartworm medication, Dr. Hendley recognized me as "Moe's mom". She's very personable and, in spite of the other reviews I've read, since the Animal Hospital is under new ownership (Drs. Jay and Betsy Hendley), I really think previous customers will be pleasantly surprised. more

Under New Ownership 12/2010 12/19/2010

In December of 2010, the Animal Hospital of Gordon County was sold to myself and my wife (Drs. Jay and Betsy Hendley). We have read the previous reviews and are working hard to provide more one on one time spent with clients/patients as well as giving detailed estimates prior to any surgeries or treatments. We hope to serve your pets for many years to come. 706-625-3300 ahgcvet@gmail.com more

Money Hungry Vet at ANIMAL HOSPITAL OF GORDON COUNTY 7/3/2010

I called ahead of time to bring my pet in and they said they could work us in. When I got there they were telling people they could not go back with their pets. It sounded strange. Then the receptionist started telling me about keeping my pet overnite which wasn't necessary. She was trying to tell me this clear accross the room full of people. I just thought I would take my pet in to see the vet and then we would discuss treatment. I did not think it was appropriate to discuss this in a room full of people to where she was almost yelling accross the room. I told her that I would discuss this when I saw the vet and I did not think it was appropriate to discuss this in front of everyone in the office which was packed. A lady that worked in the back came out with some papers and said we can not see your pet I will have to refer you to the Emergency after hours clinic. I was baffled they said they could see my pet before I drove all the way to the clinic 15 miles one way. I asked her why they could not see my pet she said they were to busy. I said you should have told me this before I drove all the way to your clinic. Then she said you refused to leave your pet with us overnite. I said I want to make this perfectly clear I never refused to leave my pet at the clinic overnite. She then did not know what to say she mumbled something about sorry we are to busy to see your pet. They did not see my pet because all they care about is making a buck. I did not think it was neccessary to leave my pet overnite but I would have and when I spoke up they did not like it. They are liars. They told me to come and bring my pet and then refused to help my poor pet because they are a bunch of petty unprofessional hicks. Cons: STAFF LIES CRUEL VET/SNEAKY PRACTICES more
