Good: Good prices, friendly. Bad: Place was scary! Like a back alley you know what. Took in female cat rescue with hesitation. When they called to pick her up, she was still sedated, pupils dilated, unable to walk. Was told to keep her in a calm, restricted area until she came out of it. She did, 6 or 7 hours later. Incision was large & gruesome.. Improvements: Was grateful that they did use anesthesia, but maybe they should keep animals in that condition a while longer as needed. Some owners are too stupid to care for their pets let alone in a compromised condition. I think it would benefit them to update their abilities. Spays & neuters have come a long way & are done with minimal invasive procedures. I've heard the crazy glue story from several people. Maybe that should be addressed.. Other: They are busy & do or did help a lot with Petco rescues. I just think they need to update their techniques & really prepare owners what to expect & how to deal with animals after surgery. Insist on pain management. Good luck. more

So far so good 5/31/2011

I took my sick cat there last Friday and they seemed very thorough, fair priced, and I felt like I got the attention I deserved. There were a couple of other people there too and I felt they were sincere and professional with them, so I didn't see any rudness or cold mannerisms. I only gave it a 4 because I'm waiting to see if what they gave my cat will fix his lil' ailment that they said he has. Hopes are high. more

Best Place for My Dog. 5/9/2011

I had taken my dog to a different vet, they told me my dog had a week to live. My friends said get a second opinion. I took him to Animal Clinic of La Mirada and they saved his life. When another vet wouldn't take the time to save my dogs life this vet gave me my dog back. The prices are awesome as well as the vets are awesome. more

Good Experience With This Clinic 4/11/2011

Male dog required neuter for licensing so I took him, here. It's located on the corner of Imperial and Santa Gertrudes in La Mirada and the manager's name is Melvyn. Price was reasonable and I was able to pick him up in good condition late evening, same day. Antibiotics and neck cone, included; stitches to be removed in two weeks, free. Price paid was as quoted by phone. I recommend this clinic to other pet owners. more

great place 2/25/2011

i have taken my many animals over the last 25 years or more and find them to truly care for my special family member more

BUTCHER!!! 1/25/2011

Good: The shots are cheap.. Bad: My mother took her dog to get fixed there and the incision got infected because he used crazy clue to shut it. She took her there and the vet charged her an additional $100. And my mom is a senior citizen on a fixed income! My friend took her dog there to again have her dog fixed, the dog had a reaction to the anesthesia and and wouldn't eat would just throw up. After many calls to the clinic the vet indicated that she should take her back that most likely it would cost approx. $60.00 for the medicine.. Improvements: Vets that one could understand what they're saying and a more humane place. I no longer take my dogs there. I only use his services when our dogs need their shots.... Other: Pay a little more but go to a better Vet. Like Dr. Gregg on Beach Blvd he is great.. more

Stay Away 1/19/2011

Stay away from this place. The only positive thing about this place is that the vaccinations are less expensive than at other Vet's. Aside from price they are terrible, cold and rude. The place is filthy too. The main thing they pride themselves on is spaying and neutering. They need to offer cheap services to get people to come in the door. Go to Petsmart, a little more expensive but well worth the price. more

Cold blooded vet 9/21/2010

On my way to work, I saw a kitty was hitted by a SUV and then he went to a Senior living unit and lying under a truck. It was 7:15 am in the morning. I called at 8 am and wanted them to have someone to check on the kitty to see if he's injured or not. The senior housing unit is right next to the clinic. But the vet told me that it's a private hospital and I should call Animal Control not them. I think they don't really love animals and the way they acted is cold-blooded. They would do everything if they can charge you for it. I would not recommend this vet to anyone. more

Wonderful Place! 7/22/2010

I have taken my animals here for years and really trust the doctors. Dr. Lopez is an excellent surgeon and is very patient with all my questions. The staff are all friendly and happy to help and educate the clients about the proper care of my pets. The prices are very reasonable and they do a lot of work with rescue groups. They are truly compassionate people and really care about the animals as well as the well being of the owners. I have become good friends with them as well as a client for life. more

Don't take sick animals here! 6/2/2010

We took our Sugars here when she bloated suddenly, they took blood and gave her a shot of lasix to reduce her bloating! Did no good and the test results came back negative, we were told pancreas and thyroid failure and they put her on antibiotics! None of which did any good...aftter three visits and five days later the doc threw his arms in the air and said, 'we have no idea what's going on with her or how to treat her, we mainly do spays and neuters here'...his words! At this point my 12 year old lab could hardly breath and could not stand on her own, I insisted something else be done! They gave me the name and address of the animal hospital in Fountain Valley,w who not only saved my Sugars life but were absolutely incredible! DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE with anything other than spay or neuter! The emergency doc told me the antibiotics they prescribed Sugars were actuallly doing her more harm than good! My baby almost died! more

Good Doctors - Fair Prices 1/16/2010

I take my pets, both dog and cats, to this animal clinic. The doctor is very kind and gentle, and the office mgr. and receptionist are pleasant. Two more reasons I like them...they have later hours and they are fair in their charges. I would highly recommend this clinic. In fact, I have sent several of my friends there and they all agree with my opinion. They have always helped us with our furry friends with correct diagnoses and no complications. It isn't fancy, but it's clean and the personnel are competent. more

Great animal clinic 11/4/2009

I love this place! They are very understanding about pets, and they are not all about the money. Dr. Madriaga is always very helpful with my smooth fox terrier. Eight years ago, my 16 yr. old wire fox terrier, Gunter, became paralyzed and wouldn't eat. I took him to a clinic in Fullerton. They ran a million tests and strung everything out over a week, and when I asked if they thought maybe he needed to be put to sleep, they said, "Well, if you don't care about him..." What an awful thing to say. I was crying and heartbroken over the decision and they were asking, "Do you need more Frontline?" Any way, I found the La Mirada Clinic and Dr. Madriaga took one look at Gunter and said, "He's not eating; he's suffering." He helped me and my husband make the decision and then we held our dog while he was peacefully put to sleep. Since then, we have trusted Dr. Madriaga with our new fox terrier. Dr. Madriaga is honest, caring, compassionate, and does what is best for your pet! I hope he doesn't retire for a long time! more

Inexpensive treatment 2/27/2006

Animal Clinic of La Mirada is located in the Marshalls shopping center on the corner of Imperial and Santa Gertrudes. Its hidden at the end of the building and is hard to see. But if you need to get your cat or dog fixed, they do it for the best price here. Now, its not the nicest looking place. So if you are particular about your animal doctors, this may not be the place for you. But I needed to get my two cats fixed and they did it quick and cheap here and there were no complications. Their vaccinations are done for a good price too. more
