What can I say? Not only is Shahla Whittemore, the owner of Angelbare, unsanitary and dishonest, she is a complete psychopath. My dealings with her were an absolute nightmare, and with no exaggeration, I lost several nights of sleep because of her. A few months ago, I went to Angelbare to get permanent eyeliner makeup. Because her prices were so inflated compared to other places I have been to, I assumed her work would be of high quality. Instead, I got a shoddy makeup job that was a far lighter color than I had requested (it disappeared in less than 2 weeks), and I even got a gift on top of that: a huge, nasty eye infection. In the middle of the procedure, Shahla would go answer the phone and write down appointments (multiple times) without removing or replacing her gloves. So after going to the doctor, I returned to Angelbare, and asked to be reimbursed. It was like watching a real-life Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. She instantly turned into the angriest, meanest, most abrasive person I have ever met. She berated me and screamed in my face. When I told her I would report her, she replied threateningly: ""Go ahead. I know where you live, and I know where your daughter lives"". She did indeed have my information, as well as my daughter's, since I added her as my emergency contact. Two days letter, my daughter received a suspicious postcard from Shahla simply stating: ""Happy Birthday!"" [My daughter's birthday was months away.] ""Please accept this gift card as a token of our appreciation."" [There was no card enclosed]. Needless to say, I panicked, and went straight to the police to file a report, and get a restraining order, but couldn't do the latter because the postcard did not constitute an explicit threat. The police simply called her and ordered her never to contact me or my daughter ever again. Still, I couldn't sleep for many nights, fearing for my daughter's safety as well as mine. I couldn't be sure this woman wouldn't do anything crazy. She certainly looked like the crazy type the last time I saw her. Anyway, in the end, I didn't get anything back from her, and couldn't even take her to small claims court, as the contract she made me sign before the procedure protected her completely and unequivocally from any litigation. I made an appointment to go in and discuss having permanent eyebrows applied. After speaking with Shahla I decided to do it immediately, before I chickened out! My husband was not happy when I arrived home that night with my dark, obviously ""inked"" eyebrows. I went for my second treatment, followed Shahla's instructions and absolutely love the results! The color does become more subdued after about a week and the ink actually appears ""feathered"" in. This was such a great decision for me. No more worries about running out the door and forgetting to apply my eyebrows. The best part, I don't have to worry when I sweat at the gym that my applied eyebrows will run! This treatment has given me freedom and confidence. My advice for anyone without eyebrows currently using brow makeup...GO GET THIS DONE! (and yes, my husband now thinks it looks great and is really glad I did it) Pros: convenience of not needing brow makeup anymore more

\r I took the permanent cosmetic course @ Angelbare last year it was a excellent learning experience days were fast paced no time was wasted and I am great full that you could modify my training to accommodate to my personal needs.Fabulous teacher the course was complete,very comprehensible and I would recommend it to others. more

\r \r I recently graduated from Angelbare located in Newton, Ma. The courses I was enrolled in were Permanent Cosmetics, I decided that I will continue my education there to learn advanced programs such as Paramedical. The classes are very informative and hands on. Shahla is a wonderful teacher she takes her time and makes sure you understand everything before moving forward.She gives you fantastic hand outs from all the conventions she attended through out the states so we can have as much information as possible. She wants us to learn everything she was taught. Not many teachers are as kind as her about sharing knowledge :) After I complete all my courses I will open my own salon. I can not wait! Shahla is a great teacher and caters to your schedule.Although the course was 50 hours, i never felt rushed to learn anything. I could spend extra time here and watch the video library. She is always happy to help you! I recommend her to anyone that is interested in studying this field! more

Before we started, I asked Sheila Whitmore if I could have my sister with me so I can get her opinion on how I would like my eyebrows done since it is going to be permanent tattooed to my face. She looked at me with a blank look, stared at my sister, and said (word for word), ""You want her opinion? Look at her eyebrows. They are crookied and yours look perfect, so why do you want her opinion?"" My sister and I were shocked. I told Sheila we can just get started without my sister but Sheila continued to offend my sister by saying, ""Her eyebrows are crookied, they are too long, and too big"". My sister told her that was very unnecessary to judge her eyebrows and to say all those offensive things. She said that we were very unprofessional (go figure) for arguing with her since she knew what she was doing. I told her I'm glad to have found out what personality she had because if my eyebrows didn't turn out the way I liked it- she would lash out at me. I took the papers with my private info on it and walk out. She used her hands to stop me by my shoulder and tugged the paper out from between my arm and bag. Sheila said she wanted her paper back and I said that it was MY PRIVATE INFO on it and I didn't think it was right for her to keep it. While walking down the stairs, she said (word for word), ""Good luck on finding a boyfriend"". We turned around and I asked, ""Why do you keep making rude comments?! You had no right to judge my twin sister's eyebrows with your rude comments just because I wanted to get her opinion on what's tattooed to my face."" Sheila had no explanation for it. She started changing the story around to try and justify what she said earlier. After leaving, she called me and apologized. I told her that what she said was very unprofessional and I will admit the truth and quote her word for word. She said, as an apology for her actions, she wanted us both to come back so she can give us a session on our eyebrows. Of course, I said no. Cons: HORRRRRRRIBLE more

I had a really bad experience there. I arrived at the place on time but I had to wait for around 20 mins because she was busy doing her personal stuff. After she took me into the treatment room, there was a woman waiting for her already. she was going to get her eyebrow touch up. So basically she was having two customers at the same time. We didnt not spend anytime for consultation. She only asked me what color you want for your brow and eyeliner. I told her then thats it. She didnt not take time to explain to me anything else. During the treatment, she talked on the phone more than once. She picked up the color of the brows for me and told me usually I do dark brown and it will turn into ligher brown, I didnt even see the color at all. She drew on my eyebrows, but two sides didnt look that even, but I thought she would adjust it during the process, but when it was done, it was even more obvious that the two sides were very uneven. Then she told me we will adjust it next time during your second visit. I was hoping the color would become lighter and softer as she said, it has been three days, but I still have very very dark brows. I do not know what to do now. She said she would provide some after care kit, but she only gave me an ice pack and a cutip, told me to put vaseline on my own. I spend around 1000 dollars on the treatment, but the outcome is very dissapointing. Right now, I am thinking, I might as well skip the second treatment and get my brows and eyeliner fixed on newburry street. I forgot to mention that one side of eyeliner is thicker than the other one. Words can not describe how unsatisfied I am with the treatment. I send her an email asking if there is a way to resolve this, cus I am very angry. We will see, but most likely. nothing will happen...Dont go there to have anything done. more

Let me start by telling you I had no visible eyebrows and very light eyelashes. I got my eyebrows done in early June and on the second follow-up got the eyelash lining. Both of these look great. And I am still amazed every time I wake up and look in the mirror to really see eyebrows and eyes looking back at me. They look so natural.\r more

I went to Angelbare for permanent eyeliner and eyebrows. I had a wonderful experience. The owner is so professional and I felt totally confident in her care. I have had so many compliments on my eyes and brows, and they look totally natural so no one knows that it isn't just regular makeup. This was a great experience and it has boosted my confidence exponetially. I highly recommend Angelare to anyone who is looking for a natural beautiful look! more

The technician answered the phone three times during the treatment procedure, leaving me unattended. Shahala Wittemore did not remove or replace her gloves in-between answering the phone and returning to the treatment station. I waited 15 minutes for her to show up for the appointment. A sign instructed me to wait in the waiting room, which was locked. Her manner was brusque, perfunctory, and not professional. I declined to go back to the spa for the secondary follow-up treatment, and was not offered a refund. The carpet of the treatment room was stained and filthy. The blanket on the treatment table was wrinkled and had obviously been used several times. The pillow case was not fresh or clean. There were unopened food and beverage containers in the treatment room. Cons: limited parking, filthy waiting room, inattentive service more
