These where the worst movers ...... Every big piece of furniture was broken........ All antiques,all not replaceable.....the boxes were crushed, and most of the stuff in the boxes were broken....... The packers stole my nephews Nintendo DS.....the movers where rude, and tossed all the boxes around, the driver told us, we had to sign papers or they would leave....... It was just a mess....... They did not get to our house Untill 7:30pm And were not done Untill midnight....... The drive demanded us to take him to get food...... And then said not to bother him, because he would rather sleep than help........ more

HORRIBLE experience! I was quoted one thing and charged another. Then when I said I wanted to cancel because my contract went up $1,500 they charged me an additional $500.00 for canceling on top of the $200.00 deposit I made. I reported them to BBB and would advise everyone else who had a bad experience to do so as well. more

I moved from Orlando to chicago and I hired American van lines east for my move. The service was excellent from the people at the office to the guys That came to pick up my items and the guys that delivered to Chicago. May moving advisor helped me all through the move explaining me what I need to do to be prepered,so my move will go smoothly. This was the best and professional move I had .with my line of work I do move a lot and by far this was the best move I ever had. I highly recommend every one who is looking for a honest and affordable move to call American van lines east. I am glad I did! I will definitely recommend every one that is moving to call American van lines east for their moving needs a 5 star service great rates and service. more

This was one of the worst experiences of my life. I will make a very long story very short. Company quoted $3200 for our move. When they showed up, they demanded $16900! We were told that most people just pay it because they are in a bind on moving day. We threw them out, and they had the nerve to charge the $200 downpayment AND $350 cancellation fee. Bait And Switch. Don't even call these crooks! more

I moved from Tampa,FL to New york city and i used American Van Lines East as my moving company.All i can say is that American Van Lines East offered the best rate and best service .My estimate stayed the same without changing anything in the original estimate. This whole move was very sudden for me and Mike my sales person was very helpfull from The pick up date to my delivery in New York city. YOU CAN TAKE LEGAL ACTION. I would rate zero stars, but not an option. I won't go into detail, but my experience is identical to all of the bad reviews here - bait and switch, deceptive sales, estimate issues, delivery issues, customer services issues once sales process is done, having to leave tons of belogings behindand they've had my items for almost a month and no one will call me back. I have to be really aggressive to get a response. I filed a complaint with the BBB but we all know that's pretty much useless. However, the trend I noticed here is that a lot of people signed the contract under duress due to a tight time schedule, no time to find new movers, non refundable deposit and cancellation fee. This is technically illegal. It is also a violation of what is known legally as 'Undue Influence"" as well as signing a contract under duress and I'm sure often in a mentally incapacitated state due to extreme anxiety and stress. I am still waiting for my items (almost a month later - I am sleeping on an inflatable mattress), thus I will be pursuing everything I can legally with this company, but am waiting until my items arrive to see what condition they are in. Look into legal options. Bait and switch is a legal grey area. AVL East has protected themselves with a BS contract, but contracts mean nothing when the person signs in an altered mental state. more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! I only wish I had read a similar warning before hiring them for a very simple, local move. The phone quote they give you is a lie. Gil Velasquez sounds professional and polite over the phone. BUT....the day of the move the cost is MUCH higher than originally quoted! AND the problems do not stop with the higher moving fee. The movers are careless and do much damage to your possessions! I had a beautiful dining room table in pristine condition. The entire corner of the table was broken off! What is American Van Lines East willing to compensate me so I can attempt to have this beautiful furniture repaired??? $36.00 !!!!! This company needs to be put out of business. If you prefer an honest company and one that will value your possessions, DO NOT HIRE AMERICAN VAN LINES EAST!!! more

When I ask for quotes to move from Florida to New Jersey they had the best quote but is a FRAUD. This is my story: on october 1st 2011 I schedule my move with you guys and was the worst experience I ever had. First of all I did an exact estimate with Hanno and he gave me an estimate of 410 cft for a price of $1365. I agree with the price and the conditions because I was completely accurate on my estimate and Hanno assure me that the price will not change if I tell them exactly what I had. I agree to the $200 deposit and wait for the moving day with everything pack and extra packing material as recommended by Hanno. When the guys came for the move from the get go they told me that the estimate was not accurate and they will need 100 or 200 cft more to fit my belongings. They agree with me that everything that was on the estimate match exactly with what I was planing to move but the estimate was not accurate. They contact their supervisor right away to see what they can do. The supervisor ask to talk to me and he start yelling at me asking my where I was from and that I have to stop crying like a woman and pay what they want. When I asked this guy for his name he refuse to answer and told me that he was the boss and owner on the company and no one supervise him. I can't believed that this was happening in the exact day of the move. The supervisor told me that if I don't pay what they want they will leave and I told him that they need to honor the estimate because I told them exactly what I had. They steal $550, the $200 of the deposit and $350 to tell them that if they are not going to honor the price they will not move my belongings. I was ready with the money and the budget to maybe paid a little more but I think that the jump from 1365 to $2996 is unfair and not justified. When I saw reviews like mine before I thought that these cases were isolated but they are all real. more

I've moved 8 times and 1600 miles in the last 6 years, and this was by far the WORST experience ever!!!\r \r I just moved this weekend from my 1 bedroom apartment to another across town. It was SUPPOSED to be a simple move more

We just moved yesterday 11/20 with this poor excuse of a moving company! It's companies like these that give those hard working ones the bad name!! They start off by showing up late by an hour and 15mins on a Sunday... well obviously our calls to see where they are go unanswered. Then the guys get there... Starts making a check list of stuff.. and says our price to move is $890 from our $300 quote. To bubble wrap one piece it cost $12.00 even if it's a fork... the list went on and on. I kicked them out... but dispatch called and said they wanted to move us.. and would do it for just the $300.00. Then these guys agreed to just wrap with blankets and use about 50 rolls of tape to do so. Well then the fun begins! They wrap all the pieces and because of the time... they couldn't even move everything. Then they take 30mins to get to my place which takes 10mins max! Now they need payment before they even touch one piece of furniture off the truck. So they call in for Credit Card Approval and they sit in my A/C Condo... for 20mins as i see my money going down the drain! At this point they have 10mins to unload.. which means they start taking off the coverings and staging it out in the parking lot! Then they lean stuff on each other and start scratching wood. At this point I have no choice but to pay for another hour... and they still drag their feet and almost hit the hour for 9 pieces of furniture and oh by the way, they did no set up that was part of the quote. I also had to help them wrap stuff up to keep them on time or they wouldn've not taken the stuff they took. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD... AND DO WHATEVER YOU NEED TO DO AND USE SOMEONE ELSE!! PUT PEOPLE LIKE THIS OUT OF BUSINESS SO THEY DON'T TAKE OTHERS MONEY!! BTW... to top it off... I call the office manager Gill... Guy is baked off his mind and is a complete idiot! more
