BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE!\r Upon the very first contact with AVL, the ENDLESS LIES begin!\r \r First, AVL is NOT moving co. AVL is a BROKER SERVICE no matter what AVL reps. say or what their website advertises.\r My HORRIBLE nightmare is parallel to other AVL clients' nightmares. \r And I totally agree with other clients' who highly believe that any positive ""tips"" are most likely from AVL.\r \r more

EVERYTHING WAS A NIGHTMARE, PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY! 5/10/2012

We contracted with this company to move our household items from Dayton, Ohio to Tampa, Florida on Friday, March 9th. In the original estimate my husband told the estimator, Joseph Amato we were closer to 10, 000lbs, but were told by him that in order to keep our deposit low we should go with 7, 000 lbs and if we went over the weight it wasn't a problem and that we would pay the difference. Well, truck shows up (a day later than what was promised to us & no notification was given to us of the date change until the NIGHT before they showed up) & there is not enough room on the truck for all of our items?!! The movers also did not show up with the items we contracted for (mattress covers) & only 2 men showed up for our 3, 500 sq ft home?! It took them over 13 hours and the help from my Dad to disassemble our furniture and carry down the stairs as surely our furniture would have been damaged/broken with only one man carrying it down the flight of stairs. We were told by the driver that the company would not be sending another truck to pick up the remaining items as they had no obligatioin to do so since they picked up more weight than was on estimate?! Again, we knew the estimate was low but swayed to keep it that way and told not to worry?! We had to scramble the next day & rent a U-haul (more costs to us), get a storage unit (again more costs to us) and fill up my parents & sister's garages with our leftover items. Once the truck arrives at our home in Florida we discover that dozens of our items (some brand new, some heirloom pieces) are badly damaged/broken or ruined. I called ""customer service"" and they told me to write a letter describing our problems. I did this & never received a call or email back. After numerous calls into AVL asking to speak to a supervisor the only compensation made was that they would waive the deposit for our next order?? When I call back to discuss picking up our remaining items stuck in Ohio I am asked if I have anything in writing saying that they would waive the deposit?? It took over a month of calling Joseph Amato, supervisors, customer service to even get a new written quote stating the deposit would be waived. We finally gave up & went with another company. They wanted to charge us all of the fees again as if it was a brand new order. One of their fees is something they call a 'binding estimate fee' which I have been told by Sam, Aramid, Joseph Amato & Matthew all different explanations of what this fee is- all of which are bogus. We still have yet to hear anything back on what the status is of our damaged items and receiving a claim check for those items. This move cost us double what it should have & the company no concern for our problems, resolving our issues or wanting our business. I have sent numerous letters & emails into the company and have yet to have any of my emails returned or any form of compensation offered. I would hate for anyone else to experience what we have with this company as it has been the most stressful, horrific, frustrating & costly experience. Please people, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They seem very nice on the phone, but that is it. After they have your money forget about anything they promised you & expect headache after headache & if you even get your furniture at all- consider yourself lucky! more

Great Movers At A Great Price 1/31/2011

My wife and I moved from Ft Lauderdale to Columbus Georgia and we had a limited time to make the move because of our new jobs and they delivered on time and even unloaded late at night to help us move in a day early. I recommend this company for anyone who wants their items delivered on time and unbroken. Great communication and great customer service. more

Excellent Service at a Competitive Price! 1/31/2011

Over the past year I have used American Van Lines twice to move my entire household and they have been awesome! Their moving crews have been very curtious and professional. They showed up on time, they were very careful with all of our things and last but certainly not least, they were nice people. \r \r I have referred American Van Lines to family and friends and everyone has been just as satisfied. If you are looking for a trustworthy, reliable mover for a very competitive price I strongly recommend going with American Van Lines! more

Efficient & Friendly Movers 12/5/2010

Very pleasantly surprised by finding such a great company randomly on-line. They are impressive with their communication and availability--at first I thought they sound too good to be true. But when we needed them for moving/packing furniture from NY to Texas, they helped us every step of the way. They were always pleasant and available on the phone--none of that automated frustration that you have come to expect with large companies. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a smooth moving experience! more

By far the Best Movers Around 10/25/2010

We have finally settled into our new home in Atlanta and my husband and I wanted to officially thank the excellent team of movers from American Van Lines for such a smooth move. We did not know what to expect from a moving company, but we have heard enough horror stories to know that you guys are at the top of your class. Everything from the communication with our moving coordinator to the interaction with the movers was great. Our move went as planned, stayed on schedule and it was everything we could have asked for and more. We highly recommend them! more

Canceled Out of State Move 10/21/2010

I paid $1000 deposit and signed a contract with American Van Lines / MBM Moving Systems for an out of state move in early June. After talking with various (but never the same) representative over the entire course of June, the Company called me on a Saturday afternoon to cancel because they overbooked (three days and one business day before my scheduled pickup window). They offered no assistance or solution other than refunding my money. Folks, this was a cross country move, not around the corner. It was the worst customer experience that I have ever had. I would avoid doing business with this Company. more

Highly Recommended Movers! 10/18/2010

I am constantly moving due to my profession and every time I have to pack my things in moment’s notice I use American Van Lines to perform the job. This is my third move with them and they haven't failed me yet. Their moving coordinators are simply the best; they are always willing to help me find the most affordable way to relocate my things in such short notice. I know that when I entrust my belongings to them I have nothing to worry about because they simply offer the best services around. Highly recommended movers! more

Excellent Service from American Van Lines 8/13/2010

On May 7, 2010 I moved from my home into a condo. The two movers who assisted with the move from American Van Lines were a great help. Their names are Eddie Robinson and Derrick Jones. I know this reviewis a few months after the move, however I just got some what settled and they were so kind and professional I had to acknowledge the excellent help they provided me. I remember it being extremely warm that day. Mr. Robinson and Mr. Jones never once complained and just continued to work never taking a break. Again, I truly appreciate the terrific service I received and would definitely use American Van Lines again. more

Efficient, Polite Movers 6/4/2010

This moving company did a great job with my things. the guys came on time everyday. I was moving from Ft. American Van Lines - They did a marvelous job! Thanks you! 12/18/2008

With most moves, one anticipates difficulties and annoyances, however, in this instance \r moving was really a positive experience. Amount the many things moved they picked up a China Closet from my aunt back in Weston to be delivered here in Baltimore, Maryland. I was in disbelief that one man could actually move one piece of furniture with that size and they actually did a marvelous job! I will definitely recommend American Van Lines to anyone making a cross-country move. I look forward doing business with them again in the future.\r \r more
